Well House is an imposing, lovingly furnished with Farrow & Ball colour schemes, Grade II listed home dating back to the early 1700s (circa 1640), which retains many of its original period features, being high ceilings and exposed beams. Formerly the Angel Inn, Well House faces the high street in the popular village of Belford. This property was believed to have been protected throughout war due to the property being the main source of water for the village, and amazingly the well still remains in the cellar of this historic property! Well House has significant historical local importance and legend. Directly next door to the property there is award-winning Well House Café which offers the most mouth-watering home cooked bakes and breakfasts, ideally located.
Sleeping 8 guests over 2 floors with three bedrooms plus a master suite boasting outstanding features throughout, this property is ideal for a large gathering of family or friends to celebrate a special occasion. The ground floor and lower ground floor is home to two sitting areas, and a snug/games room providing you and your family ample socialising spots; both of the sitting areas have toasty wood burning fires and cosy seating. The second sitting area, named The Stable, is a stunning open room with views over the garden with full exposed stone walls, with a fascinating medieval feeling. Head into the well-equipped country kitchen/diner and you will find a fantastic gas range oven and a large dining table, ideal for good social gatherings. A welcome pack with some goodies and a helpful guest information book will also be waiting for you upon arrival. Additionally, on this floor you will find a gorgeous kingsize bedroom boasting a lovely en-suite with a double shower and basin (no toilet). When evening draws in, head off to sleep in one of the further three bedrooms on offer.
Occupying the first floor are two bedrooms, the first is the master suite, a luxurious kingsize room with a grand bathroom offering a large roll top bath and a double shower. The second bedroom is another spacious kingsize with its own en-suite. To the rear wing of the property there is a further room with two single beds. The garden is a particularly beautiful and restful feature of Well House, so take the time to enjoy with a good book or some alfresco dining under the summer sun. When it’s time to unwind after a memorable day, take yourself to the hot tub with a nice glass of wine.
Belford, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is a quaint village retreat in an excellent location for cyclists, walkers, historians, and families to explore Bamburgh, Seahouses, Berwick, Alnwick, Holy Islands and Cheviot Hills in Northumberland National Park. It also has pubs serving food, fish & chips, restaurants, newsagents, farm shop, museum, church, and supermarket, along with some great local walks. The picture-postcard, coastal village of Bamburgh, dominated by its majestic fortress and wide expanse of golden, sandy beach is only 5 miles away.

Set on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, the location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, the Scottish borderland and the Lake District National Park, which is just an hour away. Nearby you can discover the Vindolanda Roman Fort, The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre and the world famous Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall. Also within easy reach is Haltwhistle, which is the ‘Geographic Centre of Britain’, with sports centre and outdoor heated swimming pools, and Burn Gorge. Stonyfield Cottage is the ideal get away for couples, friends or families, It offers a tranquil and relaxing location with beautiful countryside views. Set on the outskirts of Rochester, within the Northumberland National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a designated Dark Sky area. The cottage is only a few hundred yards from the A68 up an old Roman road known as Bremenium Way. Rochester is very close to the popular, historical and picturesque village of Otterburn.
At the South-facing rear of the property, there is a large decked area with plenty of outdoor seating, looking out onto an expansive wildlife garden with far-reaching views towards Kielder Forest. The decked area also houses the hot tub where visitors are able to enjoy for the ultimate in relaxation and stargazing. Walking, Hiking and Fishing are particularly popular around the area. The Scottish Border at Carter Bar is a mere 12 miles so you can easily visit Scotland whilst holidaying at Stonyfield. The border towns of Hawick, Kelso and Jedburgh are also easily accessible from here. Of course, you will want to visit Hadrian’s Wall, maybe stop off at Housesteads Roman Fort or why not take a trip over to the Northumberland Heritage Coast, only 32 miles to Warkworth Beach where you can spend a wonderful day exploring castles and beaches up and down this golden coastline.
