A large bathroom with sumptuous underfloor heating completes this floor. Outside is where the fun begins. Pop on a robe and take a dip in the hot tub, surrounded by trees and shrubbery, it’s a perfect hideaway. Find a quiet spot to read a book, or set the table and enjoy an al fresco supper. Steps lead off into a secluded garden with fruit trees and benches to sit and a raised pergola, a perfect spot to sit and enjoy a glass of bubbly. The garden opens up into a paddock and the most amazing wall to wall views of the Tyne Valley and North Cumbrian Fells. An elevated decking area sits in the farthest spot with uninterrupted views of the countryside beyond. As night draws in, take a warm throw to wrap up and sit and experience the amazing starry skies above Northumberland.

Set on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, the location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, the Scottish borderland and the Lake District National Park, which is just an hour away. Nearby you can discover the Vindolanda Roman Fort, The Sill Landscape Discovery Centre and the world famous Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall. Also within easy reach is Haltwhistle, which is the ‘Geographic Centre of Britain’, with sports centre and outdoor heated swimming pools, and Burn Gorge. A must visit is the historic market town of Hexham, which boasts a stunning abbey, the oldest gaol in the country, and an abundance of eclectic shops, restaurants and pubs. Continue to the beautiful Roman town of Corbridge and meander round its boutique shops, art galleries and antique shops, stop for a coffee or take a stroll along the river. Locally there is an abundance of eateries to choose from. A nearby inn serving good food and ales offers astronomers a star gazing experience and is a 20-minute walk away, with nearby Haltwhistle, Bardon Mill and Hexham offering a range of pubs and restaurants. A cosy and peaceful property for a family or couples wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle, whilst retaining the convenience of the nearby A69 for exploring the area. This detached holiday home stands in a stunning location, with wonderful views of the Tyne Valley and North Cumbrian fells. Set in the Northumbrian National Park, the location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, the Scottish borderland, and the Lake District, which is just an hour away. The cottage is ideally placed for visiting the Roman forts along the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, including Housesteads and Vindolanda, or Chesters where you can explore how the Romans lived. After you have finished donning your toga and training to be a centurion, you can retire to modern day comfort of Hadrian’s Garden Villa, relax in front of the wood burner and look out over the beautiful views in the open plan living space with decorative oak plank flooring. As night draws in, it is worth stepping outside onto the south-facing patio, surrounded by planting and including views over the valley, to enjoy the non-light polluted dark skies and be stunned by all the stars. There is a number of good golf courses within easy reach, including Hexham, which is described as one of the finest in the north of England, and Brampton which is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Cumbria. There is storage for your bike at the property, so you can make the most of the local rugged landscapes. The landscape is equally good on foot, or to walk your dog, why not take a wander to Sycamore Gap and see the most photographed, iconic tree from the movie ‘Robin Hood’? On the way back, grab a pint or something to eat at the local inn.

Tucked away in a peaceful and secluded village setting, these five comfortably furnished holiday cottages are set in an idyllic location, only 5 miles from the spectacular Bamburgh Castle and one of the longest sandy beaches in England, and within a few minutes’ drive of Seahouses, where regular boat trips depart for the Farne Islands. Between the Cheviots and the sea, there is easy touring through the beautiful countryside with its numerous castles, stately homes and NT properties. Furnished to a high standard, and close to the owners’ home, Fordson offers single-storey accommodation and Ferguson is a detached two-storey cottage. The Mill House stands as a detached converted barn, with Waren View and The Granary Cottage forming an adjoining pair. This is an ideal choice for family holidays, with use of a very pleasant lawned area by a stream. There is also shared use of the owners’ hard tennis court nearby.

Warenford Village serves as an excellent base from which to discover Northumberland and the Scottish border country. Just 4 miles distant lies Budle Bay, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as an SSSI, with the ancient walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (15 miles) and the Duchess of Northumberland’s ornamental gardens a short drive away. Created to rival the best in Europe, the gardens are contemporary in design and include waterfalls and cascading plumes set within landscaped grounds with themed planted areas. Also sure to delight both young and old alike is a visit to neighbouring Alnwick Castle, which served as the location for the Harry Potter films. Home of the Percy family, it stands as the second largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle, with some of its rooms open to the public and displaying a wealth of decorative and fine art.

Within easy reach, too, is Holy Island – renowned for its medieval religious heritage, priory and picturesque castle – and also known by its Anglo-Saxon name of Lindisfarne. Accessed by a paved causeway at low tide, the island is popular with bird-watchers and nature lovers, with the north-western portion of the island being maintained as a nature reserve, where terns, plovers and seals can be observed. Whilst on the island, a trip to The Museum of Island Life will reveal former living and working conditions there, and St Aidan’s Winery tempts visitors with its sweet concoction of local Lindisfarne Mead.
There are quiet country lanes for cycling and several excellent golf courses nearby, as well as a selection of shops in Belford (3 miles) and good inns and restaurants in which to enjoy a family meal locally – the nearest pub with restaurant being just 30 yards.

Bamburgh, with its majestic fortress towering over the village, is a short drive with a golden sandy beach making an idyllic spot for picnics and days by the sea. Alnwick has enchanting water gardens and a famous castle as well as many pubs, eateries, fine shops and cobbled streets. Nearby Seahouses, famous for its lovely fish and chips, is a bustling harbour town unchanged for years. Take a boat trip from here to the Farne Islands to see the migrating birds or seals. No trip to Northumberland is complete without heading over to Holy Island, reached by a causeway at low tide. You will find golf courses, hills and valleys for strolling, rambling, cycling or driving. Claremont is a deceptively spacious cottage bursting with character and period features. Fully renovated in 2020 to a high standard, natural traditional materials have been used whilst updating the cottage for comfortable modern living. Situated opposite St Paul’s Church in the old village centre of North Sunderland, now part of Seahouses, a mile from Seahouses North Beach. The cottage is set back from the road and enjoys a very quiet and secluded location, yet the bustling harbour and seafront are just ten minute’s walk away. This cottage features exposed stone walls and beams in most rooms and is packed with original features. The exposed wooden lintels are derived from ship’s timbers and the original 200-year-old wood floors upstairs have been restored and sanded. The lighting is mounted in exposed steel conduit with Edison-style bulbs. Downstairs the floors are limestone flags throughout. The kitchen has a wide range of newly installed high gloss kitchen units, granite worktops and a vaulted ceiling. The living room has an exposed stone fireplace with a wood burner (all logs for the week included) and an open feature staircase. Nestled away in Northumberland along a country lane and with views across open fields, Vindomora Country Lodges are an ideal place to enjoy a super holiday. Perfectly situated near to the banks of the River Derwent with a boat house and fishing permits available for a small fee, guests who enjoy river fishing will be spoilt for choice. Also just a few hundred yards from the Derwent Walkway as well as a variety of established public footpaths, walks and cycling routes, there is no better base for enjoying and exploring the local area. Then leading further out into County Durham, Northumberland, the Northumberland National Park and the stunning North Pennines. Only half a mile from the village of Ebchester, there are plenty of amenities and facilities right on the doorstep. A local village pub, excellent restaurants and a village shop are at the heart of this thriving community and within easy walking distance from the lodges. Golf lovers will be able to book a place on the famous Slaley Hall course just 15 miles away or the closer course at Consett which is just 3 miles away.
