Rowan Cottage is ideal for relaxing in front of the multi-fuel burner and watching the wildlife on the live feed to the cottage. Relax amid spectacular and dramatic scenery in this gloriously unspoilt part of Northumberland. Lying within the Northumberland National Park and enjoying panoramic views over Whitelee Fell National Nature Reserve, the cottages are former shepherd’s cottages on the owner’s sheep farm, renovated to a very good standard and retaining lots of character. Oak Cottage and Birch Cottage have beamed living room ceilings and all three have inglenook fireplaces with multi-fuel stoves for a warm and cosy atmosphere as well as power showers in the bathroom. There are wildlife cameras which feed live pictures direct to the flatscreen TV in each cottage, so you can watch barn owls, badgers and other wildlife. The area is rich in wildlife and ideal for walkers. Whitelee Farm is an idyllic base for exploring the Roman wall, Lindisfarne, Alnwick Castle, Kielder Forest Park and the Scottish borders. Newcastle and Edinburgh are within an easy drive. Shopping in Otterburn and Jedburgh, both 15 minutes away.

A very pleasant first floor apartment a 5-minute walk from the popular golden sands of Beadnell Bay. Delightful distant sea views from Castle view and good views towards Dunstanburgh Castle.
The property offers two spacious bedrooms, master a double with an additional single. The second bedroom perfect for the kids with a bunk bed (standard 3ft). The lounge is open plan with the kitchen which makes a great social room for the family to get together and play some good old board games whilst dinner is cooking! There’s a good size family bathroom with a bath and shower over. Externally the property does have fifteen steps that lead you to the front door and there is a pretty enclosed gravelled garden to the rear through a shared access, perfect to take advantage of on them hot summer evenings.
A gentle stroll from Castle View brings you to the golden sands of Beadnell Bay. This is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts, including sailing, kite surfing, sea kayaking and scuba diving. Beadnell is renowned as a holiday destination and offers local facilities including a village shop and pub serving good food. Just 1 mile up the coastline is the traditional fishing port of Seahouses, where boat trips, depart regularly from its harbour to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony. Here there are also several charming tea rooms, quaint pubs, and shops. Horse riding, fishing, and golf on the links close, by being only a sample of the many amenities available in this popular location.
A further 2 miles up the coastline is the picture-perfect village of Bamburgh, famous for its majestic fortress and Grace Darling Museum. The market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle, is only a short drive inland. Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. Church View is a delightful semi-detached property situated in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick. Aptly named, this immaculately presented house sits adjacent to the imposing St Paul’s Church and enjoys lovely views. There is also the convenience of en-suite shower facilities to the master bedroom too, and good quality bed linen and towels are supplied.
Church View sits back from the hustle and bustle of the town centre and has the benefit of its own private parking, yet there is a wide selection of amenities all within a gentle stroll. There is an array of independent shops and a variety of pubs available within walking distance. Golf is also available less than a mile away. Close by is Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts!) and the spectacular grounds of Alnwick Gardens, a 12-acre visitor attraction, including the grand cascade waterfall and world famous poison garden. Head outside and finish off you’re evening with a bottle of wine and take advantage of the fabulous garden equipped with garden furniture and a firepit for those chillier evenings. Seahouses welcomes you and offers a wide array of tearooms, restaurants, pubs and shops within walking distance. Boat trips run from the nearby harbour to the Farne Islands, famous for their nesting seabirds and grey seal colonies. The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, dominated by its majestic castle, is only 2 miles north, where there is a wide expanse of golden, and often empty sandy beaches. The tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as Holy Island, can be seen from the beach and is accessible via a causeway twice daily. A further 2 miles up the coastline brings you to Waren Mill, which is steeped in history. Once an important port, its harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary. Budle Bay is a bird sanctuary and at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is home to thousands of sea and land birds, making this location a haven for bird watchers.
Harry Potter fans can head to the historic market town of Alnwick to the incredible Alnwick Castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in the UK and used as Hogwarts when filming scenes for the Harry Potter films so it’s a must-visit for any fans, with Harry Potter related events organised here throughout the year as well as guided tours. The Alnwick Garden is also an exciting visit with its spectacular interpretation of a formal garden, including the Grand Cascade waterfall, poison garden and largest tree house in Europe where guests can dine in the restaurant. Being close to a great road network you can explore easily from here even taking a day trip to Berwick on Tweed almost on the Scottish Border where you can explore the history of the borders of England and Scotland.
