Set in the heart of the pretty little village of Barrasford, Willow Cottage is the perfect retreat for up to three adults or a small family.
When you step into Willow Cottage there is a calming and relaxing ambience throughout with a living room and a modern kitchen with a dining area. The living room has a super cosy wood burner for those chilly evenings in snuggled up watching a DVD or a movie on the Smart TV. Upstairs are two bedrooms; one super kingsize bed which can be made into singles, and an additional single room. There is also a modern bathroom with a bath and shower over, whilst to the rear is an enclosed seating out area perfect for relaxing after day out at your favourite places.
There are plenty of walks from the door and Willow Cottage is within easy travelling distance to all the major tourist attractions throughout the county. Set conveniently next to a family friendly pub which serves home cooked food, perfect if you want to walk and enjoy a pleasant evening out. Perfectly located for exploring the National Park with the amazing dark sky observatory at Kielder (booking needed) or go over to Hadrian’s Wall and visit The Sill, a great tourist centre. Corbridge, a pretty Roman town, is an easy drive with some gorgeous cafés, pubs and bespoke shops to explore, whilst a little further you will find Hexham with its abbey and a great choice of shops and eateries. Newcastle upon Tyne is easily reached from here and the heritage coast peppered with castles and golden beaches makes a great day out. Visitors to Willow Cottage will be sure of a real warm Northumbrian welcome no matter which direction they decide to explore.

Within a short walk there are a variety of restaurants and eateries, a theatre, a cinema, a golf course and a leisure centre with a pool and ten-pin bowling alley. For guests who enjoy a day at the races, Hexham Racecourse is within a short drive away and has a packed calendar all year round.
Walkers and cyclists will find themselves only a short distance away from established public footpaths, walking routes and cycle paths. There are many traditional Northumbrian villages to visit all within a short drive, including Corbridge, with its beautiful river walks and boutique shopping, as well as the nearby stunning Northumberland coastline. Within a short drive you can visit the famous Hadrian’s Wall, the county’s greatest Roman monument and World Heritage Site. This crosses through stunning countryside, natural woodland and meadows, with established public footpaths, cycle paths and bridleways to explore, as well as Roman forts and settlements the Northumberland National Park and International Dark Skies Park are both close by and offer some of the most fabulous scenery and views, as well as unbeatable stargazing at night. Hexham is very well-positioned for exploring the bordering counties of Cumbria and County Durham, with Carlisle, the Lake District and the cathedral city of Durham all within an hour’s drive. Just 20 miles west of Newcastle, guests will find there are plenty of shopping opportunities, art galleries, museums, restaurants and bars.

For a day at the races, Hexham racecourse is just 15 minutes’ away. In just over an hour you can reach the golden beaches at Tynemouth or head further north to explore the Northumberland coastal villages of Amble, Bamburgh, Warkworth and many more. The magical moorlands and wildernesses of the Scottish Borders, peppered with explorable, historic market towns, are within easy access. Whittle Dene Reservoir House is a Grade ll listed building, built in 1848 by the well-known architect John Dobson for the Gateshead and Newcastle Water Company. Originally the superintendent’s house, it stands proudly on the banks of the reservoir with uninterrupted views from all windows. Built in Tudor style with a two storey octagonal tower, and grand features throughout, the property is truly unique in every way. The golden beaches on the Heritage Coast are also within easy reach and make a lovely day out. The vibrant city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne is also only a 25-minute drive. There are two pubs in the village so after a day exploring, just take a short stroll and you can enjoy a well earned meal or drink.
The market town of Hexham is only 6 miles away and offers a variety of shops and restaurants. Enjoy the historical sites the town has to offer at Hexham Abbey or the Old Gaol. A must visit is to the pretty little village of Corbridge, again only 6 miles away.
