The large wooden chapel doors open to reveal a big hallway with a couple of rooms leading off to the sides. You come to a useful study room first which offers a little privacy or peace, and the opposite is a utility room providing the perfect place to dry and feed the dog, dry wet coats after a busy day’s walking in the Lakes. A second set of doors opens into an impressive, Instagram-worthy living space, with high vaulted ceilings, large leaded windows, and oak beams.
Once you catch your breath, you can take in the large kitchen with all the amenities and space required to cater anything from a simple sandwich to a family feast. The breakfast bar is the ideal place to watch the chef show off their skills whilst enjoying a glass of wine before moving the feast to the large dining table, where you could easily imagine you were starring in an epic movie during a medieval banquet.

The owners provide a welcome tea tray and have added maps which shows which fields and walks you can have access too. The wonderful National Trust Property of Wallington Hall and Gardens is only 5 miles away. Matfen Hall, Spa and Golf Centre is only 10 miles, and you can drive down to Corbridge in 20 minutes. This is a lovely old Roman town with plenty of lovely pubs and cafés. The pick-your-own fruit farm and café is only half an hour for you to enjoy in summer.
