The local scenery is beautiful and there are many walks from the doorstep. Exmoor and Wimbleball Lake are close by for walking, cycling, fly fishing, horse riding and a wide variety of water sports. Bampton has a wide range of amenities with butchers, bakers, greengrocer, three pubs, restaurants and cafés, two convenience stores, two antique shops and a children’s play park. While great pubs, restaurants and delicious local food also available in Dulverton. This is a fantastic location for exploring many villages and local sites especially on Exmoor; Dunkery Beacon, Porlock, Landacre and Dulverton. There are several National Trust stately homes and gardens within easy reach, including Knightshayes Court, a striking gothic mansion with extensive grounds. The large town of Tiverton is just 4 miles away and offers some interesting places in amongst the hustle and bustle of everyday life, including Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, which is one of the largest social history museums in the South West. The rolling wild green hills of Exmoor are nearby, where you may find stags, streams and breathtaking scenery, along with the town of Dulverton and Dunster village. Exeter and Taunton are a short 35-minute drive away offering shops, theatres and restaurants, or visit the beaches of North Devon and even the Jurassic Coast. This is a perfect base for touring rural inland Devon, often missed by tourists heading for the coast. Crawshaw Cottage is a modern and fresh holiday let, located within one of Buxton’s villages, Harpur Hill. As you arrive you will see how surrounded by countryside you are, and you can step into the fields from the doorstep.
On the ground floor of Crawshaw Cottage is an open-plan kitchen and diner with patio doors backing onto the lawned garden. The kitchen has everything in place for you to prepare a delicious meal which can be enjoyed around the dining room table, and there is also a sofa area here with a small TV. The sitting room offers ample seating to relax and enjoy a series or film on the Smart TV, a toilet is also available on the ground floor.
Upstairs are three bedrooms, the master is a kingsize bed with TV and an en-suite shower room, the second bedroom is made up of two twin beds which can be linked together to make a super-kingsize bed if requested, the third bedroom is a small room and only has a bunk bed with 4ft double on the bottom bunk and single bed on top. There is also a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. Outside is a private garden which is enclosed and has garden furniture. You also have access to the garage where you can store bikes/luggage, and the driveway provides parking for one car but there is ample street parking directly outside as well.
Buxton has a lot to offer for holiday makers, there are countless walking routes close by such as Solomans Temple or hop in the car to Tissington or High Peak trail. Castleton is a short drive where you can walk or explore the caverns or take a trip to Chatsworth House. Buxton town centre has many delicious restaurants, pubs and bars as well as independent cafés, a 5* spa plus the opera house with shows on weekly. Alton Towers is a short 45 minute drive away.
