The lovely market town of Reepham, with The Dial House (boutique hotel restaurant), pub, cafés, antiques shops, butcher and supermarket situated around a historic market square is under a mile away.
Oozing with character glass bi-folding doors extending along the property flood the contemporary and spacious open plan living area with light and provide views across farmland beyond. After a busy day exploring, gather around the wood burner to relax and unwind. Each bedroom benefits from an en-suite bathroom which makes this property the perfect place for couples travelling together, providing everyone with their own private space. Traditional stable doors in both rooms open out onto the large enclosed south-facing courtyard.
The Cowshed enjoys a convenient location providing easy access to both the North Norfolk Coastline and the Norfolk Broads.
The Norfolk coastline has a wealth of sandy beaches, including Wells-next-the-Sea, Mundesley, Sea Palling and Horsey, and the traditional seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham are both within an hour’s drive. You will also find RSPB nature reserves, bird reserves and coastal paths nearby. Guests visiting between the months of December and February, make sure you visit Horsey Beach for your chance to spot hundreds of grey seals and pups along the shore.
Wroxham is 17 miles away and is known as the ’Capital of the Broads’. Hiring a boat is arguably the best way to explore one of Britain’s finest wetlands or you can enjoy a river trip. Nature lovers are advised to bring binoculars, as the Norfolk Broads are home to a diverse range of fora and fauna. Keep your eyes peeled for otters, kingfishers or the elusive bittern (one of the rarest species of birds in the UK).
National Trust properties in the vicinity include Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall, Sheringham Park and Horsey Windpump. Nearby is the Bure Valley Railway Line, a nostalgic 18-mile round trip by steam on Norfolk’s longest narrow gauge railway, running through pretty countryside between the historic market towns of Aylsham and Wroxham, stopping at Buxton, Coltishall for on/off exploring by foot and Alby Crafts Museum. Norwich city is 15 miles away and has a cathedral and a 12th-century Norman castle.
Families with young children will enjoy trips to the Dinosaur Adventure Park, Pensthopre (nature reserve, indoor and outdoor adventure playgrounds) BeWILDerwood (tree top and woodland adventure park), and Holt Country Park with miles of trails to explore; seasonal activities held during school holidays like mini beast safaris, treasure hunts and guided ranger walks. This delightfully situated, semi-detached, single-storey, holiday cottage has been renovated to a very good standard and is located within the national scenic area between Dumfries and Annan. The cottage is near Caerlaverock Castle and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. The county towns of Dumfries and Annan are a short drive away providing a wide range of shops and places of interest. The cottage makes an ideal base for exploring this wonderful area either by car, cycle or on foot, and the Mabie Forest mountain bike tracks are close by, whilst the scenic Caerlaverock Estate has a network of paths to enjoy close by. Close to excellent salmon fishing on the River Nith and wildfowling on the National Nature Reserve. There are several excellent golf courses in the area including the championship course at Southerness. There are wonderful views over the Solway Coast towards the Lake District.

Buttercup Lodge is a charming little lodge, ideal for couples, with uninterrupted views across open fields towards Warkworth Castle. Set in the owners’ grounds, this detached lodge with a large enclosed garden and secluded patio sitting-area with chimnea to the front, is a lovely spot to relax after a day’s exploring. In a peaceful location only 2 miles from Amble, it is an ideal base from which to explore the many visitor attractions throughout this friendly and unspoilt county. Amble, reputedly ’the friendliest port’, has a working harbour with boat trips to Coquet Island, a sandy beach and a bustling Sunday market with some excellent seafood eateries and fish and chip shops. A short drive takes you to the popular Druridge Bay Nature Resort. This ideally located holiday home offers a superb base from which to explore the magnificent Heritage Coast, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Visit Craster, famous for its smoked kippers and glorious walk along the cliff-top to Dunstanburgh Castle. It is only a few miles from Alnwick, with its famous castle used in Harry Potter and in Downton Abbey. A great central base from which to explore the whole of this unspoilt county from Hadrian’s Wall to the National Park and back to the coast again. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles

This semi-detached, period holiday cottage is a haven of peace and tranquillity, set in 6 acres of private woodlands and is just a stone’s throw away from the town of Newcastle Emlyn, famous for its 13th-century castle and traditional Welsh pubs and restaurants. Explore the Brecon Beacons National Park and other attractions including Dynevor and Dryslwyn and the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

The main house is a unique, Grade II listed, Georgian manor house nestled in 25 acres of Wiltshire countryside. This beautiful detached property features a games room in the basement, a ’secret’ walled garden and well-equipped accommodation for families, friends or couples who enjoy holidaying together, and with 9 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, this makes the ideal choice. Set in private grounds, this charming house has a modern, eclectic, English country decor theme throughout. For those who prefer ground floor accommodation, there is a double bed in the library, which has an en-suite, with a shower and toilet. This shower room has also been designed as a place for washing down your four-legged friends after country walks. The kitchen centres around an Aga, and has a farmhouse-style table, along with all the facilities needed to enjoy a self-catering holiday. On the first floor, known as the Georgian Wing, there are 5 bedrooms, all with a private bathroom. Two of these have super kingsize, timber beds, two have zip and link super kingsize beds, and the other has 2 single beds with matching trundle beds, sleeping up to 4. This room has use of the bathroom just across the landing, while the other 4 bedrooms have en-suites. The Victorian Wing was originally designed as a nursery and servant’s quarters, which has now been made into a further 4 bedrooms, each with their own en-suite. Each of these rooms consist of a super kingsize zip and link beds, two of which are typically set up as twin beds and two as super kings. Guests can enjoy exclusive use of the grounds, which include a walled ’secret’ garden next to the house. There is also a large lawned area for outdoor dining, sunbathing, reading and relaxing. For those who enjoy a walk, there is a 1.5km woodland path behind the house. To the front of the house, an additional large lawned area can be used for games with the children. For those who may be celebrating a special occasion, or perhaps looking to treat yourself, a private chef can be arranged to cook some or all meals during your stay (by arrangement with owner, at cost). There is also a 1-bedroom annexe called The Nook which is also available on the Henge Estate and can be booked under a separate listing.
If you fancy venturing out, Stonehenge is just over 5 minutes’ away, and Salisbury is just over 20 minutes’. The local village is half a mile away and has a convenience store, a pub serving local ales and a restaurant. There are many places to visit within easy reach including Bath, Marlborough, Winchester, Southampton and Shaftesbury. For those who enjoy history, visit Stonehenge, Woodhenge, Durrington Walls, Avebury Henge and stone circles, Alexander Keiller Museum, Andover Iron Age Museum, and many castles dotted around the area. Longleat Safari and Adventure Park, Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World and Finkley Down Farm are within reach, and for those who enjoy outdoor activity, they can book horse riding, fishing, art, golf, festivals and markets, there is plenty within a short drive.
