Travel south to the traditional market town of Cardigan, where the beautifully restored castle is not to be missed with 900 years of history to uncover. Enjoy a short walk into the village to discover the traditional Welsh pub or a freshly brewed coffee in the village café. There’s so much to explore in Cardigan Bay but if you want a day out to Pembrokeshire you can reach the well-known family attractions of Oakwood Theme Park and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo within an hour’s drive. Maesydderwen, meaning oak field, started life as a working farm and later became a country inn, but is now a collection of delightful holiday cottages, beautifully situated within the living landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The charming market town of Llandeilo, with chic shops and an array of good restaurants, cafes and pubs, is just over three miles away. This holiday property has CCTV and has been renovated by the owners who live on-site, and boasts a fantastic hot tub and comfortable accommodation ideal for families, friends or couples. The property has been awarded Bronze in the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards for self catering accommodation of the year 2018/2019 (3 units or more). There is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy from the grounds including woodpecker, siskin, marsh tit, goldfinch, nuthatch and wild roe deer. Red kites can also often be seen soaring overhead and there is a feeding station a 20-minute drive away. You can leave the car behind and enjoy wonderful walks directly from the cottage. If you can drag yourself away from Maesydderwen, there are the beautiful castles of Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr nearby, and the dammed lake of Llyn Y Fan Fach at the western border of the Black Mountains. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, 11 miles, with its great glasshouse dome at its centre, is a year round attraction, and within the Brecon Beacons National Park there are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, golfers, horse riders and wildlife watchers. Adrenaline sports such as paragliding, canoeing, rafting and abseiling can also be organised within the national park. Fishing is available in the nearby Towy Valley. Beach 30 miles. This lovely 1900s barn was formerly a cow shed and milking parlour, and has been converted to a high standard with luxury fixtures and fittings. It is situated on a working beef and sheep farm with a pedigree Hereford suckler herds, sheep and goats and lies adjacent to the owners’ home. This semi-detached property is all one level and has a family bathroom, a double bedroom with en-suite facilities and a twin bedroom. The corridor leads to an open plan living space and the fabulous fitted kitchen has all the necessary appliances you could need. There is also a lovely breakfast bar for you to enjoy your meals whilst looking at the open countryside through the patio doors. The living area has a wood burner, ideal for keeping you cosy on those colder evenings, and patio doors lead out to a patio area and the garden, great for exercising the dogs, and children. Ammanford itself has a coffee roastery serving fantastic coffee as well as breakfasts. There is also a large selection of shops, supermarkets and local pubs, some serving good food and with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and castles. Pantyffynnon station is within walking distance of the property on Heart of Wales line to Shrewsbury or Cardiff in the other
direction.
There is also plenty to do in the area, with the beaches of Gower approximately 18 miles. The lovely old market town of Llandeilo, situated on the River Towy, is just 6 miles away with boutiques and galleries, and hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Jazz Festival and the Gin Festival. Located in south Somerset, midway between Taunton and Ilminster, this spacious wing of the owners charming 250 year old farmhouse, offers ideal holiday accommodation. With many beautiful country walks in the area, this period property is ideal for walkers and with a livery yard next door, horse stabling is available (by arrangement). Visit Taunton, the county town of Somerset, historical houses and gardens including Montacute House, Forde Abbey, Hestercombe Gardens and Barrington Court, or take a trip to Minehead on the nostalgic West Somerset Steam Railway. Exmoor National Park and the Quantock Hills are well worth a visit, as well as a trip to the south to explore the Jurassic Coast between Seaton and Bridport, taking in Lyme Regis. Inland, there is Clarkes Village for some retail therapy, Glastonbury Tor, Somerset Levels, Cheddar Gorge and the spa city of Bath. After spending the day exploring many attractions, return to this delightful property and snuggle up in front of the woodburner, set in a lovely inglenook with bread oven. Beach 20 miles. This detached barn conversion is a delight for lovers of the countryside. Although close to the owner’s home, it stands on its own and is a holiday base for visiting the attractions of Norfolk and Suffolk. A pottery can be found in the village, whilst Banham Zoo, Bressingham Gardens and Steam Museum, and Thetford Forest are nearby. The Norfolk Broads and Norwich with its cathedral, castle museum, shopping, pubs and restaurants can be reached within half an hour. 18-hole golf courses at Richmond Park, Watton, Thetford Forest and Barnham Broom. Situated 200 yards from Loch Sunart in the bay of Camas Inas with access to a rocky beach and the cottages own mooring, this newly renovated cottage is perfectly situated to explore the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, the most westerly part of the UK. In the grounds of the cottage is a garage for storing kayaks, paddle boards and bicycles. It is just one minutes’ walk to the loch where you can swim or fish and have close up views of passing dolphins and otters. There is also horse riding, canoeing and water rafting locally as well as clay pigeon shooting.
The cottage is all on one level with five steps up to it with two bedrooms, one which can either be a double size bed or twin beds lounge bathroom and kitchen. A cot is available for babies.
The double glazing and central heating are complemented by an open fire (with fireguard) and a supply of logs provided. Designed to make you feel cosy and comfortable, the cottage is decorated to remind you of Victorian Scotland but has every modern comfort. There are lots of stunning hill and loch-side walks in the area with Castle Tioram being one of the most beautiful sights to see in Scotland. Glen Coe and Ben Nevis with skiing are not far but you can also take a short drive to pubs, award winning restaurants, cafe’s, distillery, or smokehouse to enjoy local produce of seafood or venison. Drive further down the Pensinsula to the award winning organic Ardnamurchan Distillery or to Kilchoan and the Ardnamurchan lighthouse and then take the ferry across to Mull and visit Tobermory and several fish restaurants all selling local fresh caught produce.
Nearby there is a post office and two general food shops. The fish man comes every Tuesday with freshly landed fish including langoustine and lobsters. Venison and organically grown vegetables can be bought locally. You can also order a delivery from a local supermarket in Fort William for basic supplies although there will be items like tea, bread, milk, eggs, and wine in a welcome hamper for you on arrival.
There is a local GP and the area has its own ambulance, coastguard, fire service and police on the peninsula.

The coastal hamlet of Little Haven is 10 minutes away where you can enjoy fresh line caught fish or an array of shellfish, and the local inn/restaurant serving local ales. Travelling further south west, visit the boating village of Dale and enjoy some fantastic walks, boating, kayaking and fishing, or for some birdlife, take a trip to Skomer Island with boats departing from St Martins Haven. Tenby, Folly Farm Zoo, Heatherton World of Adventures and Oakwood, Wales’ largest theme park, are all within 40 minutes’ drive and perfect for all the family.

A luxury barn conversion makes a great base to visit the Yorkshire coast, North York Moors National Park, Dolby Forest, the Yorkshire Wolds, Cleveland Way and nearby popular Market Towns. The owner has created a well equipped holiday ‘home’ with very high standard décor and furnishings. It is situated in the pretty village of Seamer, just 4 miles from the seaside town of Scarborough. The village has local pubs that serve traditional pub food and fine dining. There’s a small supermarket and post office as well as a fish and chip shop, all within walking distance. For those of you who enjoy bird watching there’s the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs where you can view thousands of migrating seabirds from the cliff top viewing points. People travel from all over to watch the comical puffins. The cyclists amongst you can enjoy some of the routes from the Tour de Yorkshire, as well as the wonderful Dalby Forest, home to miles and miles of mountain bike tracks. With over 8,000 acres of woodland pathways there’s plenty of woodland walks to enjoy, as well as the Cleveland Way. Aysgarth Lodge provides an excellent base to enjoy a golf tour of the North East Coast or play in the historic Scarborough golf week.
Yorkshire is famous for its market towns, Pickering, Malton, Beverley and Driffield are all a short drive from Aysgarth Lodge. In the village you will find a supermarket, post office, traditional pub, bistro pub, fish and chip shop and a church 100-400 yards. There is a garden centre. 10-15 minute flat walk which has a lovely café. Supermarket and fast food outlets within a 5 minute drive, all in the same place.
