Old Inzievar Cottage is in a delightfully secluded, rural woodland setting, surrounded by mature beech woods and rolling farmland. It has been lovingly furnished and benefits from a cosy open fire in the living room and a wood burner in the kitchen. If you are feeling more energetic, try the owner’s tennis court near to Old Inzievar Cottage, or with permission from the owners, a tour of the restored walled garden can be arranged. The wood burner in the living area is a cosy place to spend a lazy afternoon with a book, and the kitchen is fitted with modern appliances for preparing a meal. Step out into the garden with its terrace and seating, and enjoy your morning coffee whilst listening to the wild birds. There are the grounds to explore, but you will need your boots as are there are no footpaths.

Perfect for walkers and cyclists, there are many quiet roads and paths to explore. Kellie Castle and gardens with its tea room makes for a great walk, and is about 1½ miles away. This is a super location for spotting wildlife, and nearby Gillingshill Reservoir has a variety of water fowl, including coots, little grebes and swans. Look out for rare green sandpipers during the migration season, and in late summer the air is filled with dragonflies and damselflies. The woodland also hosts a multitude of wild flowers in spring.

Four miles away is the magical old harbour village of Pittenween which oozes charm. There is a working harbour where you can watch the boats landing their catch and purchase freshly caught fish for your supper. If you would like to catch your own, fishing is available from the piers in St Monans, Pittenweem and Anstruther. Wander around the old lanes with their coffee shops or visit the harbourside ice cream shop for refreshments. For a walk along the shore, the Fife Coastal Path follows the coast to old fishing villages, pretty coves and sandy beaches where lots of sea life is visible from the shore.

Only a 20-minute drive is the historic city of St Andrews, a popular tourist location which offers a great selection of quality cafés, bars and restaurants, excellent shopping, historic buildings, a harbour and a sandy beach. Set in a picturesque lane, Kirkview Cottage is a traditional semi-detached cottage in the quiet village of Upper Largo, on the southern slopes of Largo Law. This is a perfect location for a romantic escape for a couple and friends or a small family to spend time together and explore this most picturesque area of Fife.
Within walking distance is the local hotel with a restaurant and bar, there are gentle walks out into the surrounding countryside. The beautiful sandy beach at Lower Largo is less than a mile away. This ancient fishing village is famous for being the birth place of Andrew Selkirk, a famous 1700’s explorer whom Daniel Defoe based his book of Robinson Crusoe on and there is a statue of him outside of his original home. This area is steeped in history and there are many historic buildings, castles and gardens to visit, namely Kellie Castle, which makes for a great day out and dates back to the 1300. There are numerous visitor attractions and whisky distilleries including Kingsbarns Distillery offering tours.
For guests who enjoy walking, the Fife Coastal Path is easily accessible from the cottage, you can walk various sections of the coastal path and catch the coast bus back to the bus stop which is 200 yards from the cottage. For days out, along the coast is the bustling tourist harbour town of Anstruther offering a great selection eateries, from a Michelin Star restaurant to award-winning fish and chip shops. From the harbour front there are daily ferries and boat trips, between April and September, departing to the Isle of May Nature Reserve, home to colonies of sea birds such as puffins, and the surrounding waters are the habitat of seal colonies.
For golf enthusiasts, there are over 45 courses in this area including the world famous championship courses at St Andrews, only 12 miles away and the local courses at Lundin Links are regularly selected as the final qualifying golf course for the open championship. Upper Largo is dominated by Largo Law, the highest hill in the region and the cottage benefits from great views of Largo Law from its fully enclosed rear garden. Access to the path up Largo Law is yards away from the front door for those who have the stamina to climb to the top in order to take in the great views of East Fife, the Firth of Forth and the Lothians. The village itself has a restaurant, a short walk from the cottage, and is steeped in history with the historic church being the focal point of the village. Many walks radiate from the village and the beach at Lower Largo, Robinson Crusoe’s birthplace, is a 20-minute walk away via a number of local footpaths which also give access to the Fife Coastal Path.

A stone’s throw away lie the picturesque coastal villages of Limekilns and Charlestown, both within walking distance. Don’t forget a visit to the quaint historic village of Culross, with its colourful old houses and cobbled streets, the backdrop to the famous TV series ‘Outlander’.
