There are regular events throughout the year including the Crieff Highland Games and the autumn Drovers Walking Festival.
    This area provides outdoor activities for all levels of skill. If you prefer more strenuous activities, then mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide some excellent walking, with water sports available on Loch Earn, as well as mountain biking. For a less energetic day there are beautiful riverside walks along the banks of the River Earn and Turret. Those interested in golf can enjoy a range of courses in the surrounding area.
    This area is steeped in history with tales of the outlaws and the Jacobite rebellion, an historic castle and monuments to visit in the area. If you have been following the TV series ‘Outlander’, Drummond Castle gardens are within 5 miles as are plenty of the locations used in the series, including Doune Castle and Hopetoun House all within driving distance.

Within the grounds of the owner’s property, but completely detached and private, this delightful cottage, accessed by a rough track, has stunning expansive views over the fields and hills of rural Perthshire, yet is just a mile or so out of the village of Methven. Inside, the cottage has been lovingly furnished with calming colour schemes. The living room has comfy sofas and a soothing atmosphere and opens up onto the sun room at the rear, which leads to a private patio and hot tub, perfect for an evening soak in peaceful surroundings. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped with everything you need to cook up a lovely meal, and upstairs the main bedroom has a quirky element with a shower cubicle also in the room. There is a separate bathroom upstairs and a toilet downstairs. Outside, the pretty garden gives way to horse paddocks, and beyond are the rolling fields of the surrounding farm.Please note in September, the grain dryer in the adjoining barn can run for long hours.
    This is great place to enjoy a varied holiday in the wonderful county of Perthshire. There is easy access to the fair city of Perth itself, with its wide selection of boutique shops, artisan cafés and restaurants. Culture lovers can take in a show at the renowned HorseCross in the centre of Perth, or in the more traditional Perth Theatre. Other recreational facilities include swimming, skating and cinema, as well as plenty of golf in the surrounding area. For golfers, Gleneagles is an easy drive.
    The popular town of Crieff is a short drive away, with the Glenturret Distillery well worth a visit, or visit Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre in Comrie, a great place for children and adults alike to interact with native and foreign species amongst wonderful scenery. Although attached to the owner’s residence the cottage is totally self-contained has a lovely private hot tub for exclusive use, this is a nature lover’s paradise!
    Surrounding the property are two peaceful woodland areas bursting with wildlife including deer, ospreys, otters and red squirrels, which are regularly seen from the lounge and kitchen windows of the property. The owners welcome you to explore the woods which are criss-crossed with winding paths and seating areas. There is also a fishing lake which guests can make use of, not to mention the attractive ruins of Glasclune Castle also within the grounds, a Grade I Historic Building.
    If you can tear yourself away, there are easy to moderate walks locally, more strenuous ones within driving distance in the Angus Glens and on and off road cycle tracks nearby. The Cateran Trail, a circuit through Perthshire and Angus glens, can be joined at the end of Woodside’s drive. In addition, many castles, stately homes and gardens abound in the vicinity including Glamis and Scone Palace. If you were to book Woodside in the winter months, the road leading up to the property is an upwards hill, this is mainly suited for four wheel drive vehicles but any other may find it difficult to climb. Blairgowrie has a good selection of places to eat, drink and shop as well as the Cargill’s Leap landmark to the north of the town. For golfers there are almost too many courses to mention but notably St Andrews, Carnoustie, Rosemount (in Blairgowrie itself) and Gleneagles are within an hour’s drive. Winter skiing is available at Glenshee or for more relaxed days out explore the cities of Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh, all within easy reach.
