Originally a chapel, the building dates back to the 1900s and is located next to the stream and pool where villagers were baptised. Chapelburn is a detached cottage which has undergone a unique and innovative conversion transforming it into a very spacious holiday home. The hot tub on the elevated decking outside adds to the experience, and taking a plunge in the waterfall fed plunge pool before getting toasty in the sauna will create holiday memories that last. To take full advantage of the south facing location, the decking with clear balustrades is along the full length of the front of the cottage and the ground floor rooms all have doors leading onto the decking with dining table for al fresco dining. The focal point of the cottage is the large open plan living area, furnished to a high standard and a great place for everyone to be together, with an island unit for casual dining or a dining table that can seat eighteen. There is a large TV, extensive DVD collection or bring your own movie collection to stream from your own devices on the 56" TV. Families will also enjoy the added bonus of a 7ft pool table. The well-equipped kitchen area boasts high quality fixtures and fittings and the second living room has a cosy double sided wood burner and comfortable sofas to relax and enjoy the spectacular views. There are also three well-presented bedrooms with patio doors leading onto the decking area. On the first floor, the two further super kingsize bedrooms benefit from balcony windows providing great views. Guests will find plenty of outdoor space with ample garden furniture and a footpath down to the loch side.
There is lots to do in the area and the conservation village of Kenmore at the east end of Loch Tay has a shingle beach and great views down the loch where guests can enjoy water sports, loch cruises or maybe a spot of fishing. There is a local shop, a post office, deli, the oldest inn in Scotland, restaurants and the Cranog, a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water. Kenmore hosts a traditional ceremony each January to mark the opening of the salmon season on the loch. This area is well known for outdoor activities with lots of walking and climbing opportunities available. Fearnan is at one end of the Tay Forest Park and leads to the hamlet of Fortingall, home of the Fortingall Yew, the oldest tree in Europe. At the far end of the loch is Killin and the Falls of Dochart, and a superb drive from here to the Bridge of Balgie leads to the top of Glen Lyon, the longest in Scotland. With absolutely stunning views over the Vale of Strathmore, Clayhills Cottage is on a working arable and Christmas tree farm, accessed by a rough track, is surrounded by fields and looks out onto the Sidlaw Hills. Within a short drive is the popular market town of Blairgowrie, this is a great location for exploring these beautiful parts of Perthshire, which are renowned for its soft fruit growing. Keen walkers will enjoy the nearby Cateran Trail and there are numerous cycle routes criss-crossing the area. For golfers there are plenty of courses, including a championship course in Blairgowrie itself, as well as internationally famous Gleneagles, St Andrews and Carnoustie further afield. In winter the ski slopes at Glenshee are within easy reach and the cities of Perth, Dundee or Edinburgh make good days out. There are regular events throughout the year including the Crieff Highland Games and the autumn Drovers Walking Festival.
This area provides outdoor activities for all levels of skill. If you prefer more strenuous activities, then mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide some excellent walking, with water sports available on Loch Earn, as well as mountain biking. For a less energetic day there are beautiful riverside walks along the banks of the River Earn and Turret. Those interested in golf can enjoy a range of courses in the surrounding area.
This area is steeped in history with tales of the outlaws and the Jacobite rebellion, an historic castle and monuments to visit in the area. If you have been following the TV series ‘Outlander’, Drummond Castle gardens are within 5 miles as are plenty of the locations used in the series, including Doune Castle and Hopetoun House all within driving distance.

Attached to Lochearnside House where the owners live, the lodge was designed to make the most of the outstanding views with the contemporary open plan living space situated on the first floor. A cosy seating/dining area overlooks Loch Earn, and from the kitchen area, fitted with quality appliances, you can enjoy views of the hills while preparing your meal. You can even wake up to great views from your bedroom which is on the ground floor and has a kingsize bed and French doors which lead to a sitting-out area where you can enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of fizz. Loch Earn is located just across the road where you can enjoy use of the foreshore and private jetty.
Give your car a holiday too as there is much to do on foot from your front door. The local shop has a café and there are opportunities to indulge in some bistro style food or fine dining along with a good selection of wine and whisky. There are walks to suit all abilities from a gentle stroll along the loch side to more strenuous walks in the hills, and you can join the old railway route leading to Comrie. The local golf club, Sandy Lyle’s favourite small Scottish golf course, has a challenging nine hole course.
This area is the hub of many outdoor activities and ideal for tackling many of the Munros and Corbetts in the central highlands. Water sports, cycling, golf and fishing are all available in the local area and there is an abundance of wildlife to admire including deer, red squirrels and otters. Look out for the ospreys on the loch in season.
St Fillans and the surrounding area is steeped in history and folk law of clan battles, outlaws and fairies with many historic houses, gardens and castles to visit. To complete your Scottish heritage experience, visit one of the local whisky distilleries offering tours and tutored tasting sessions.
