For family entertainment, the Pitlochry Festival Theatre is a must, Faskally Woods and Pitlochry Putting Green are also worth a visit. There are plenty of country walks and cycle paths with lots of wildlife to look out for including deer, wild birds and red squirrels. The historic town of Perth is only 26 miles away. From you doorstep, you can enjoy lots of lovely cycle routes and walks, and for the more adventurous, there are 43 munro mountains within a 1-hour drive. Loch Earn is 6 miles away, which offers sailing and water sports, and for nature lovers, the Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is just 2 miles. There are many interesting places to visit in the area, including historic castles and gardens, and whisky distilleries. Although there isn’t an enclosed garden, two dogs are welcome at this pet-friendly property. Inside, the open plan living room and kitchen are flooded with light from the high Velux windows and French doors, and there is a wood burner adding to the sense of comfort within.

Wildlife abounds with red squirrels, fallow deer, hare and endless birds on the property, and pine martens can be seen from a nearby local hide. With a plethora of walks and cycle paths waiting to be explored nearby, including the Cateran Trail, your holiday can be as relaxing or as energetic as you like. The village of Kirkmichael is only a couple of miles away with two pubs, a local shop and tearoom. Pitlochry is 10 miles away with shops, eateries, salmon ladder and festival theatre - a very popular venue which hosts a wide range of productions throughout the year.

The lively towns of Blairgowrie, Perth and Dundee (home of Captain Scott’s ship ’Discovery’) are within easy reach, along with the skiing resort of Glenshee, the largest ski area in Scotland. Beyond Glenshee is Braemar, home to the famous Braemar Gathering, a key event in the Scottish Highland Games calendar and one attended by Her Majesty the Queen every year. The Royal Burgh of Auchterarder has a 1½ mile long high street, which offers a fine selection of quality independent shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants. For those who enjoy learning of the local culture and history, there are many castles, historic houses and gardens to choose from including Stirling Castle, Doune Castle and Drummond Castle Gardens. There are three whisky distilleries and visitor attractions close by, and with Crieff, Perth and Stirling only a short drive away, you’ll never be stuck for things to do. Just over an hour away are the cosmopolitan cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. If you prefer to leave the car behind, the local railway station provides links to all major towns and cities. Waterloo Farm House is a traditional, stone-built, C-listed, detached cottage with a generous sized garden, providing a wonderful place for couples, friends and families to relax and enjoy this excellent property. Set in the quiet hamlet of Waterloo, it is believed that the original properties in the area were built for the soldiers returning from the Napoleonic Wars or for the widows of soldiers who did not return from the famous battle. It is thought that Waterloo Farm House was built around 1815 and in recent times was a berry farm but is no longer a working farm.
This beautiful cottage has been completely rebuilt internally to provide a modern layout and was just completed in summer 2019, yet still maintains its original charm and character. Birnam is close by and is one of the best preserved historic towns in Scotland. The Arts Centre is home to the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Garden which is well worth a visit. Walk along the riverside and discover magnificent old trees in the Birnam Wood which was mentioned in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The bustling city of Perth is only 10 miles away and is packed with places to eat and drink and has a theatre, museum, swimming pool and a great selection of shops including high street names and local boutiques. The railway stations at both Perth and Dunkeld have frequent services to Inverness and Aviemore, or you could be in the centre of Edinburgh in just over an hour without the stress of finding parking. Westacre Lodge is a lovely bright and spacious detached house set within the grounds of the owner. Surrounded by stunning views of the local countryside just a five-minute drive to the historic market town of Crieff.
As you enter this lovely, gated property you come into the fully equipped kitchen with an adjacent dining room. Head into the welcoming bright living room, offering far reaching views of the fields and mountains in the distance. This house is perfect anytime of the year, especially for a winter break when you can snuggle up in front of the large wood burner. Beautifully decorated throughout with stripped pine doors and oak flooring throughout the downstairs.
