There are 20 golf courses within 20 miles including the famous Gleneagles. Other attractions include lochs and river fishing (Salmon, Grayling and Trout Fishing, at cost, licence required), horse riding, mountain climbing, whisky distilleries, castles, parks and gardens to visit. Whether you are looking for a relaxing holiday or a more energetic break, there is something for all ages to enjoy. Within easy driving are Perth, Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Loch Lomond. Even meal preparation has been considered too, with a hand-held food blender and bottle steriliser on hand. There are no low-level glass doors and all lower units are fitted with child locks. Great for walkers and cyclists of all abilities, from your front door there are many established public footpaths and cycle paths that lead directly out into the heart of rural Perthshire. The River Earn runs through the village and provides the perfect landscape for an afternoon stroll. For a more exhilarating walk, head to the Deil’s Cauldron where the River Lednoch cascades through a rocky gorge. There is a very scenic golf course, fishing, bowling and Loch Earn, 6 miles away, offering sailing and watersports.

For a family day out Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is a short drive away and has much to offer all ages with a children’s play area, covered walkway to view the wildlife and a restaurant. This cosy, detached cottage is set in the small town of Pitlochry and offers an excellent holiday base for touring Perthshire, with the attractive towns of Blairgowrie, Dunkeld and Aberfeldy within easy reach. Glenshee, Scotland’s largest ski resort, is one hour away and a short walk from the cottage will give you a choice of bars, restaurants and shops. The property is just a few minutes from the River Tummel, famous for its salmon fishing. On the outskirts of the town lies an 18 hole golf course with wonderful views across the Tummel Valley. For family entertainment, the Pitlochry Festival Theatre is a must, Faskally Woods and Pitlochry Putting Green are also worth a visit. There are plenty of country walks and cycle paths with lots of wildlife to look out for including deer, wild birds and red squirrels. The historic town of Perth is only 26 miles away. There is much to explore in Muthill, down the ancient lanes there is an old church dating back to the 12th-century, children’s play area, a renowned restaurant, café, ice cream parlour, local pub, shop and a 9-hole golf course. Crieff is only 3 miles away and is a great day out where you can visit a whisky distillery, crystal factory shop, deli and café selling local produce, craft shops, galleries, local shops and a super market. There are regular events throughout the year including the Crieff Highland Games and the Drovers Walking Festival. The area provides outdoor activities for all abilities, and if you prefer more strenuous activities, then mountains Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide excellent walking with water sports on Loch Earn and mountain biking. For the less energetic there are riverside walks along the banks of the River Earn and Turret. The area is also steeped in history with historic castles and monuments to visit. Famous for being in the TV show Outlander, Drummond Castle Garden is 2 miles away, as well as other locations seen in the show such as Doune Castle and Hopetoun House. Stirling, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow are easily accessible for day trips. Waterloo Farm House is a traditional, stone-built, C-listed, detached cottage with a generous sized garden, providing a wonderful place for couples, friends and families to relax and enjoy this excellent property. Set in the quiet hamlet of Waterloo, it is believed that the original properties in the area were built for the soldiers returning from the Napoleonic Wars or for the widows of soldiers who did not return from the famous battle. It is thought that Waterloo Farm House was built around 1815 and in recent times was a berry farm but is no longer a working farm.
This beautiful cottage has been completely rebuilt internally to provide a modern layout and was just completed in summer 2019, yet still maintains its original charm and character. The welcoming and bright living/dining room has large, comfortable sofas, attractive lighting and a wood burner ensuring this space is a cosy hub for guests to gather. The village of Bankfoot is just 1 mile away, with a pavement all the way from the cottage and is very handy for a local store or one of the two local small hotels with bars. The attractive town of Dunkeld is only 5 miles away and makes a great day out with its historic cathedral and buildings, and a good selection of quality restaurants, coffee shops, delis, interesting independent shops, galleries and walks along the River Tay. Birnam is close by and is one of the best preserved historic towns in Scotland. The Arts Centre is home to the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Garden which is well worth a visit. Walk along the riverside and discover magnificent old trees in the Birnam Wood which was mentioned in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The bustling city of Perth is only 10 miles away and is packed with places to eat and drink and has a theatre, museum, swimming pool and a great selection of shops including high street names and local boutiques. The railway stations at both Perth and Dunkeld have frequent services to Inverness and Aviemore, or you could be in the centre of Edinburgh in just over an hour without the stress of finding parking. The cottage retains much of its original character and has a wonderfully secluded feel, set on high ground and surrounded by nature and an abundance of birds, red squirrel, pheasants, deer and wildlife. Outside there’s a woodland and spacious garden, although you may find it hard to tear your eyes from the stunning views! The outdoor firepit is memorising on a clear night with the twinkly stars.
