    April Cottage is situated in the popular country village of Gordon, which boasts a café and a public house serving great home cooked food during the day. There is a well-stocked mini market and pub that serves evening meals in Greenlaw (4 miles). A wider range of shops and supermarkets can be found in Kelso (8 miles), and Galashiels (15 miles). The cottage is very well presented and dates to the mid-1800s where it was originally a stable and then converted into cottages in the 1920s, retaining all the charm of its period features with a rendered front face and the original local stone to the rear.

    The garden area is enclosed and private with a patio offering space for al fresco drinks and dining. Inside there is an open plan living/dining room with a cosy wood burner aesthetic wooden floors and French doors leading to the garden. The kitchen is small but well-equipped with a good level of appliances, providing everything you could need to rustle up hearty home cooked meals. On the first floor is a comfortable kingsize bedroom and a single bedroom, both served by a family bathroom. Two private parking space are available to the front of the property.

    The area is a walker’s paradise and there is fishing on the River Blackadder, permits are available in Greenlaw village. The nearby historic monument of Greenknowe Tower dates to 1581, while Hume Castle and Mellerstain House and Gardens are worth a visit, along with Dryburgh Abbey. Edinburgh is an hour away by train from nearby Tweedbank station with free parking, or you can drive. There is easy access by road to the Berwickshire coastline, approximately 30-minute drive. Melrose is a popular tourist town and can be reached in a 20-minute drive. Floors Castle in Kelso is a day out place and there’s a café and garden centre and a dog walk by the river. Bamburgh, with its majestic castle and stunning beaches, and Holy Island, known as Lindisfarne (accessible at low tide), are fabulous for days out and are just over an hour away.
