Guests can enjoy visiting Belvoir Castle, Belton House and Isaac Newton’s Woolsthorpe Manor, and the local market towns of Melton Mowbray and Stamford.

There are a number of golf courses available within a 20-minute drive from Park House. For fishermen, there are also 2 fisheries nearby which offer day tickets (licence required). Belvoir Lakes is 4 miles away (at cost), and Woodland Waters is 13½ miles (also at cost). This large, double fronted Victorian house is situated in the pretty coastal town of Sutton-on-Sea just 2 minutes walk from the beach. With its own garden with a private hot tub and games room, it provides the ideal holiday base for any family wishing to explore. Mablethorpe, just 4 miles has ‘Kids Adventure World’ ideal visit for those wet days whilst Skegness just 12 miles, has entertainments for all ages with Europe’s biggest classic ferris wheel, Hardy’s animal farm and Natureland Seal Sanctuary to name a few. Well positioned for towns such as Alford, Horncastle, Lincoln and Boston which are all within easy access. There are castles, country houses, windmills and market towns to explore as well as walking or cycling in the Lincolnshire Wolds which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or follow the World War II Bomber trail steeped in aviation history. On the edge of the village of North Willingham, the barns provide an excellent base for exploring. Just 3½ miles from Market Rasen with its world famous racecourse, excellent range of restaurants, pubs, shops and market. Horncastle is renowned for its antique shops and is only a short drive, as is the unspoilt Georgian town of Louth with two busy market days a week. A visit to the sandy beaches at Mablethorpe or Skegness are always worth a day out, as is a visit to Lincoln Cathedral and the Bailgate area used in the filming of the ‘Da Vinci Code’. Riverbank cottage is a detached, comfortable family and couples retreat set on the west bank of the river Trent, ideal for those looking for a peaceful holiday or a base from which to explore this historic area. The cottage sleeps six adults and two children comfortably.
The first floor comprises of a sitting room with views overlooking the river, a family bathroom, a twin bedroom, a double room and a children’s room with a small single and a pull-out bed, only suitable for children, not adults. The ground floor benefits from a twin bedroom, a shower room with a toilet, a utility room, a TV snug and a dining kitchen. The cottage has an enclosed garden with a south-facing patio, garden furniture, barbeque, cycle store and parking for 1-2 cars accessed by an 8ft wide drive.
Although Althorpe has lost its pub there are many restaurants and eateries in the area including the excellent Ferryboat in the next village. Many shops and restaurants are available nearby, all within three miles along the A18 east.
There are many good walks and cycle routes and several golf courses only a short drive away. Interesting places to visit include Epworth, the birthplace of John Wesley founder of Methodism, the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Normanby Hall and many wildlife and bird reserves. Lincoln, York, Beverley, Cleethorpes and Hull the 2017 City of Culture all less than an hour away.
