Little Whitley is the former staff quarters to the main house, which started life in the 1600s, and has since been sympathetically restored into a stunning self-catering holiday property for up to four guests. The cottage lies within a private 200-acre family-run farm and boasts its own enclosed orchard and courtyard. The orchard leads on to a footpath which, in one direction, takes you to the village of Hookagate with a pub that welcomes dogs and is popular for food, and a regular bus service to Shrewsbury. In the other direction the footpath leads to Hanwood, also with a village pub and local shop. Whitley provides the perfect destination for couples, families and anyone looking for a relaxing rural retreat.

Dogs are more than welcome at Whitley and there is so much to explore with them in the local area, fantastic walks along the river or across Lyth Hill, or 15 minutes in the car will take you in to the Shropshire hills. Although the property is rural, you’ll be pleased to learn that Shrewsbury is only 10 minutes away by car or an easy bus journey. Set on the banks of the River Severn, Shrewsbury is one of the country’s most picturesque medieval towns. Dotted with flowers and parks, and renowned for the historic Shrewsbury Abbey and Castle, this bustling town is home to a lively independent shopping scene, restaurants, bars and some unforgettable days out. Ludlow is a thriving medieval market town in Shropshire and an architectural gem with a lively community feel, busy with events and festivals throughout the year and just under an hour away. A lovely barn conversion set in the Shropshire countryside just 10 miles from the historic town of Shrewsbury. Offering spacious accommodation, this beautifully appointed barn with modern styling and high-quality furnishings has been lovingly restored and retains all the original beams. The large utility room leads into the vaulted open-plan kitchen and dining area with beautifully restored original exposed beams. This bright and airy area naturally allows for social interactions while the dinner is being prepared. The kitchen is fully fitted and well-equipped, and patio doors lead out onto the seating area within the gravel garden. Further into the cottage is the relaxing living area with a wood burner, comfortable seating, and a Smart TV. The bedrooms and bathroom are at the far end of the cottage. Both bedrooms have exposed beams and feature brickwork walls. The garden is equipped with a pergola, a seating area with wooden tables, and chairs, and a barbecue. The lockable shed within the garden is suitable for storing bikes. Set within the grounds of Springfield Barns is a 2-acre field that guests can use along with the owners and other guests. There is also a second seating area off the dining area that catches the morning sun.
The Coach House is situated just outside the village of Baschurch which is near Shrewsbury and Ellesmere. Baschurch offers pubs, takeaways, churches, a large convenience store, and a cash point. The local bus, which operates between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere, collects and drops off on Springfield Barn main drive allowing guests to leave the car behind.
Shropshire is a gem of a county with so much to explore within easy reach, and is home to Ironbridge World Heritage Site and numerous National Trust sites including Attingham Park. Shrewsbury town offers fantastic fresh dining, individual shops, craft markets, museums, art galleries, and the stunning Dingle set within the Quarry Park. These two properties are in the pretty village of Burwarton, at the foot of The Brown Clee Hill, and located just a minutes walk from a country pub ’The Boyne Arms’, which has been renovated and is run by the owners’ of these properties. The Boyne Arms offers fantastic meals in a most comfortable and cosy setting, the beer garden outside now includes private pods which guests can use to enjoy their drinks and food outside (see their website for opening and serving times). Included in your short break will be a return journey to either Ludlow or Bridgnorth, to enhance your stay without the need to worry about transport.
The Old School House 1 (UK32061) is a three bedroomed property of which one is en-suite and has a mezzanine balcony overlooking the open plan living space. The Old Kitchen (UK32062) is a studio apartment with the bedroom area in with the living area.
Burwarton is close to Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Ludlow and Bridgnorth which all offer an array of attractions as well as a large range of shops and bars. For the more active guests there are many walks to enjoy such as Clee Burf and Brown Clee Hill which is the highest point in Shropshire. The town of Ludlow is also just a short drive away and highlights for the day include Mortimer Forest and Ludlow Castle. After a long day walking and exploring all that Shropshire has to offer. Ludlow town offers guests a wide variety of things to do and sights to see; it is overshadowed by its own majestic castle, as it was once, like York, a seat of government in Tudor and Stuart England. It hosts the famous Food Festivals and events throughout the year, there is always a lively atmosphere in the town. It has a reputation for fine foods, speciality and antique shops, and even a racecourse. The castle hosts a number of events that run throughout the year, including being a beautiful spot for weddings. There are many walks in and around the town and guests can walk to explore the town or to visit one of the many pubs or restaurants. An excellent base to explore the unrivalled countryside for picnicking and walking, or nearby towns such as Bridgnorth and Bewdley with the Severn Valley Railway, Ironbridge, Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Tenbury Wells and Leominster. The cathedral city of Hereford with its chained library and Mappa Mundi are all within a short drive, as are historic houses such as Witley Court, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, Stokesay and Powis Castle on the Welsh borders. The property boasts an enviable position in the town close to many town amenities and within easy walking distance.

Orchard Barn lies on the grounds of the owners working farm, a converted cow shed which has been tastefully decorated throughout and offers home from home comfort in the glorious surroundings of the rolling hills of mid Wales. It has a great open plan living space with Smart TV and French doors leading to the patio area, whilst the kitchen comes with integrated appliances and a sizeable breakfast bar! The ground floor bedroom has an en-suite and the first floor twin room has its own bathroom. The large garden is enclosed, however those with small pets will need to be mindful that their dogs may get through the post and rail fence that surrounds the property.
Walks can be had straight from the front door of the property, if you are bringing your four-legged friend they will have plenty of space to roam. The village of Pen-Y-Bont is just 3 miles away and has a pub serving food. Further down the road in Crossgates there is a café, launderette and service station. The town of Llandrindod Wells is 8 miles and has an abundance of shops, restaurants and interesting walks and a fabulous lake that you can take a stroll round whilst listening to the local wildlife. Offa’s Dyke, a famous walking trail, is only a 20-minute drive, and there are plenty of other scenic walks nearby. The Royal Welsh showground, 15 miles, has lots to offer in the way of events and shows, not forgetting the famous Royal Welsh Show in July.
