There is superb walking with many footpaths leading to either the South West Coastal Path or the heathlands and forests of the Dunster woodland and Exmoor National Park. Other places to visit are the Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton which are famous for the Watersmeet Gorge, National Trust, the Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Peacefully set high up in rural Somerset close to Exmoor National Park and with far reaching views over open countryside, this holiday home attached to the owner’s farmhouse, provides a comfortable base for relaxation or touring. Excellent for walking and pony trekking as well as exploring Exmoor villages, Wimbleball Lake and west Somerset coast. Easily reached are Minehead, Dunster Castle (National Trust), Knightshayes Court (National Trust) and market town of Taunton. Tuppence Cottage is situated right in the heart of Dulverton, which has a good range of shops, pubs and tea rooms. Close to this semi-detached cottage, there is plenty of walking into the surrounding countryside and up to Exmoor National Park. Visit Tarr Steps, Dunkery Beacon and the pretty moorland village of Withypool. Further afield, there is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path, or the Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watermeet Gorge (National Trust), Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway, are also worth a visit. The resort of Minehead has a promenade, as well as having a good array of shops and other amenities. A visit to the medieval village of Dunster, with its castle (National Trust), beautiful terraced gardens, deer park and mill, will make for an interesting day out. Watchet, Porlock and Porlock Weir hold plenty of charm and interest to those who visit the area, and there are beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor. Fishing is available within 3 miles of Tuppence Cottage. Dulverton is very popular for fishing and has its own angling club, as well as a fishing shop in the high street. Only 2 miles away is a fishery, which is one of the local places to fish and is open all year round. Wimbleball Lake is only 5 miles away and has trout and coarse fishing. You can also book fishing lessons here. There is a wide range of fishing available, including, fly fishing, salmon fishing and coarse fishing. All fishing requires day tickets, which can be purchased from the fisheries. Beach 16 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

The bedrooms, each with a Smart TV, are located at each end of the apartment, with a twin bedroom at one end and a double bedroom at the other which has beautiful French doors leading to your private gravelled courtyard. The large bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet and light up mirror, there is also a second separate toilet. Outside, you have two private courtyard spaces, both of which are fully enclosed and have seating areas where you can sit back and relax or enjoy an al fresco meal. Your four legged family members are able to run around in this area. You also have use of the owner’s enchanting landscaped gardens that lead down to the River Barle, where you are able to spend time fishing as the owners have the rights to this part of the river! *Please keep your dogs on the lead in the main gardens due to the owner’s chickens and ducks.

Miles and miles of walks head off in every direction or jump in your car and discover more of the area, such as Tarr Steps or the beautiful north coast towns of Porlock and Lynton. For more history head to the Medieval village of Dunster and visit the Castle then jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway and chug along the coast and through the countyside.

Head to the coast and walk around the harbour of Watchet, play the arcades in Minehead, or take the dog to Blue Anchor with its long stretch of pet-friendly beach. Further afield you have the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth with its famous cliff railway, the highest and the steepest fully water-powered Victorian railway in the World. If Trains are your thing, then the West Somerset Steam Railway that runs from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead is a must-do day out for all the family.
