The idyllic village of Witham Friary, complete with an unspoiled pub and children’s playground is a few minutes’ stroll and found fame as the setting for the TV series Building the Dream.
Benefiting from its countryside setting, Moorleaze also affords easy access all year round and is within a short driving distance of many famous locations. Longleat is close by, as are Wookey Hole and the Yeovilton Aircraft and Haynes Motor Museums. Bath, designated a World Heritage Site, boasts many delights including the Roman Baths. Nearby Frome has even more listed buildings than Bath and hosts a renowned arts and music festival in early July. Salisbury, Wells, Glastonbury, Stonehenge and Avebury are also popular places to visit from Moorleaze. NT properties include the incomparable Stourhead, just minutes away. When you arrive at The Malthouse a heavy oak door leads you into the original cart-way. From the cart-way, go down into the lower ground floor utility room, here you will find an extra fridge, washer and dryer. Also just off the original cart-way is a bedroom with a bathroom adjacent. A spacious open plan kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is stylish and handmade with all the modern appliances you’d expect. The dining area has a large, impressive Bath stone fireplace in front of the long pine dining table. Heavy curtains and underfloor heating keep you warm in the winter months whilst stone floors, lime washed walls and ancient beams reflect its historic character.


On the ground floor the sitting room and the garden room, both comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. The sitting room has an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner, ideal on colder days. Walk through the cosy sitting room to the airy pitch-roofed garden room and enjoy views of the garden and countryside from the window seats. Climb the turret stairway to the first floor where there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bedrooms are large and elegant with crisp Egyptian cotton linen and fluffy towels, side tables, soft furnishings, and comfy chairs. Up another turret stairway to the second floor with another bathroom and a further two bedrooms, one with a unique view of the ancient malthouse roof structure through a floor-to-ceiling glass window. There’s a generous open courtyard and a large garden with lawn and lavender lined path. Guests can enjoy al fresco dining; there are large tables with benches and chairs, a large comfy sofa and plenty of blankets to lay on the grass. A range of outdoor games including table tennis are provided.


Grade II listed, The Malthouse is steeped in history with some parts dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries and is quirky in many ways with uneven steps and floors, all of which contribute to the character of the building. The owners just ask that you take care whilst you experience living in a historic house! The property is in an outstanding location. The city of Bath needs no introduction and is a 15-minute drive (or catch the bus from the village).


If you want to enjoy all this World Heritage Site has to offer while staying in a quintessential English village away from the hustle and bustle, Norton St. Philip is the perfect spot. It has its own dramatic history to investigate, including the site of the Pitchfork Rebellion in 1686. The stunning George Inn next door is one of the country’s oldest and has been the resting place of queens and kings dating back to the 15th century. Other world-class attractions nearby include Longleat House and Safari Park, Stonehenge, Glastonbury, and the National Trust’s Stourhead. Don’t miss other places of interest including the Hauser and Wirth art gallery in Bruton, Iford Manor’s Peto Garden and the pretty market town of Bradford-on-Avon. Set in the grounds of the owner’s home lies The Studio. This ground floor accommodation is great for two guests, light and airy with a great space outdoors and ideal for alfresco dining. You enter the property into the open plan living space, the living area features a Smart TV and electric fire, perfect for those cosy nights, there is a dining table for two guests to enjoy a home cooked meal that you have rustled up in the well-equipped kitchen. From the living space there is only a few steps to the bedroom where you will find a super kingsize bed to jump into after a busy day exploring, and adjacent to the bedroom is the bathroom with shower.
Outdoors there is a private space for guests to use, which is well lit in the evenings for you to enjoy summer nights with a BBQ and a glass of bubbly. The Studio is in the heart of the village yet tucked away off the main road, and there is private parking for one car.
There is so much to see and do locally, the village of Beckington has three pubs to choose from within walking distance, there is an award-winning café which is just a stone’s throw away, as well as a farm shop with its own restaurant. Every Tuesday in the village hall car park there is a mobile pizza van, or you can take a stroll to the local fish and chip shop.

Within 10 miles you can experience the Georgian city of Bath with its famous architecture, the Jane Austen Centre, and thermal spa (Thermae), the city offers something for everybody. Both sleep up to five people, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms in each cottage. On the ground floor is a queen bedroom with adjacent bathroom with cubicle shower, on the first floor there is a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a twin bedroom, as well as a large family bathroom. Each cottage has a large, well-equipped kitchen/dining room, perfect for enjoying a well-cooked evening meal with views over the fields beyond. It’s a great place to gather and chat and drink whilst dinner is being prepared! Both cottages have separate living areas with comfortable seating, Freeview TVs and a wood burner, perfect for those cosy nights in. The cottages have a shared garden with private BBQ and outdoor seating per cottage. There is also a separate utility room that both cottages have access to with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The owners provide a starter pack for the logs and BBQs, they also have cots and highchairs that can be requested. For your furry friends, the owners have a large utility room where there are spare dog towels, poo bags and dog bowls, and can also provide beds for the dogs. There is a hose just outside the utility area where you can wash and dry your pets after a wet and muddy walk; all dogs staying in the cottages must be kept downstairs. There is a large pond in front of the cottage which is fenced off but not enclosed; it acts as a boundary between the cottage and the owner’s home. The pond is 1.5m deep in the middle and 40cm shallow at the edge, so guest with dogs and children must take responsibility and not leave them uattended.

Welcome to Bridge Cottage, a beautiful riverside haven set in the hamlet of Henley, close to the town of Langport. As the electric gates open you will get a glimpse into the large private garden, as you drive around the corner Bridge Cottage will be waiting for you. Inside, on the ground floor, you enter into the large boot room and hallway, to the right you will find the spacious and welcoming kitchen/dining room, which is extremely well equipped with all you will need to create everything from the simplest meal to a sumptuous feast. The living room has gorgeous, beamed ceilings, comfy sofas to sink into are centered around the wood burner, perfect for cosy evenings after a day exploring. The cinema room has a large corner sofa, 75” Smart TV and sound system, so close the blinds and snuggle up to watch a blockbuster movie!
Upstairs, each bedroom has been lovingly decorated in its own unique style. The master bedroom has fabulous river views, double bed, dressing area, TV and en-suite shower room. Bedroom two has twin beds, TV and river views. The further three bedrooms are all doubles with a TV in each. The main family bathroom has a dual ended bath, separate shower cubicle and heated towel rail. Outside, the large garden is mainly lawned and has a fabulous patio area with comfortable garden furniture, the ideal spot for al fresco dining. To the rear of the garden, you have the games house, with table tennis and dartboard, many hours will be spent here having friendly (or very competitive) tournaments! There is a further chilled summerhouse that has spectacular views along the river and is the ideal space for some relaxed reading or a drink of your favourite tipple!
You have gated access to the River Cary and during the summer you can take rowing boat for a paddle along the river! There are many walks to be enjoyed directly from Bridge Cottage or head over to Langport, park up the car and walk the Parret Trail along the River Parret and enjoy the local shops and restaurants in Langport. For a dose of ancient history, head to Glastonbury with its Medieval Tor and eclectic mix of shops. For the bargain hunters among you, Clarks Village in Street with its designer outlet is a must visit! The beaches of Burnham-on-Sea and Weston-super-Mare are within an easy drive away for a dose of traditional seaside fare!

These attractive holiday properties lie in the peaceful conservation village of Colerne, surrounded by rolling countryside. The Grade II* listed stable conversion (PFFH) is part of the only longhouse in Wiltshire and dating back to the 13th century, is the oldest house in the village. Beautifully refurbished to offer all modern conveniences, yet retains charm and character. Sympathetically converted, the detached, single-storey barn (PHHF) offers light and airy, contemporary accommodation. Colerne has a good selection of shops and pubs but only a short bus journey, 7 miles, will take you into Bath and Chippenham. Old Farm is a stunning Barn conversion in Southwood, just outside of Glastonbury. Converted to an extremely high standard in 2021, it’s the perfect base from which to explore Somerset. Drive past the orchard and enter through the gates into your private driveway where Old Farm awaits you, through the large Oak front door the bright and airy living space opens in front of you to welcome you in. The central open plan living space has beautiful large doors opening to the garden, a wood burner for those cosy evenings and sumptuous furnishings to allow you to relax into whilst watching TV or chilling with a glass of your favourite tipple. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine as well as everything else you will need to whip up a fantastic dinner or just a simple breakfast. There is also a sitting room with large floor to ceiling windows, you can also sleep up to two extra guests on the sofa bed in here. Off the open plan living area you will find the fabulous bedrooms, both have double beds, hairdryers and en-suite bathrooms. Outside you have your private garden, with outdoor seating area and fantastic views across the fields.
There are fabulous walks in all directions that can be taken from the doorstep, whilst the towns of Glastonbury and Street are just under 15 minutes drive away. Glastonbury, famous for its festival and ancient legends, has a great mix of eclectic shops and larger stores whilst Street is well known for its outlet shopping centre, Clarks Village, where designer bargains are to be found! Within an hour’s drive you have a wealth of National Trust properties to explore as well as fun days out at the likes of Longleat and Haynes Motor Museum.
