A visit to the lively and ever-popular Tenby just a short distance around the coast is a must with its shops, pubs, restaurants and miles of golden sands, a boat trip to the monk’s island of Caldey during the summer months is a real treat. Nearby Narberth is a small ancient thriving market town with a ruined castle and a mixture of small independent shops, including a fishmonger, butcher, grocer, delicatessen, wonderful cake shops, art and craft galleries, antique shops, pubs and restaurants, great for gift shopping and recently recognied as one of the best high streets in the UK. Ty Twt is perfect for that family getaway and is set within the village of Clynderwen, central to all that the wonderful county of Pembrokeshire has to offer. Ideal for those who might want to visit West Pembrokeshire St David’s, Britain’s smallest city. The historic and boutique market town of Narberth is only 5 minutes’ drive where you can enjoy a swimming pool, art galleries and gift shops, as well as a creative café where you can paint pottery and take it home with you! There are several sandy beaches locally, including Broadhaven beach (40 minutes drive), Tenby (30 minutes), Saundersfoot (25 minutes) and the nearest beach, Amroth (20 minutes), so Ty Twt is ideal for both the coast or uncovering the countryside. Walkers and mountain bikers alike are also catered for, with Canaston Woods close by with lots of scenic trails to enjoy. There’s even a bike rack to store your bikes.
Travelling south, discover the picture postcard walled town of Tenby, where you can explore the cobbled streets, the many galleries or build sandcastles with your children on the magnificent South Beach. Further around this sublime coastline is the harbour town of Saundersfoot, where you can enjoy fish and chips on the harbour wall while looking out towards Worms Head and the Gower Peninsula. South Pembrokeshire is often referred to as ’little England beyond Wales’. The locals speak English, place names are English and yet the area is surrounded by Welsh speakers on all sides even in north Pembrokeshire! During the 12th century Henry I allowed a number of Flemish to settle in the area and they were soon joined by English settlers. The Flemish and English languages were similar at the time. This led to the extinction of Welsh in the area.
