Nearby, the historic town of Bedale, 2½ miles, offers a weekly market every Tuesday and various events during the year, together with a range of individual shops, restaurants and pubs. Masham, renowned for the Black Sheep Brewery, is 10 minutes’ drive and Richmond with its Norman castle, Georgian architecture and thriving theatre is also easily accessible. Historic York and its many attractions is within easy driving distance. Alternatively, just enjoy the wonderful Yorkshire countryside either by car, bicycle or on foot. Shop and pub ¾ mile. Set in a stunning rural position within the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Fell Cottage is a traditional limestone conversion of a former farm building restored to provide a wonderful quaint holiday retreat. The cottage is situated in beautiful Raydale, a rural and unspoilt area of Wensleydale. It is surrounded by traditional farming country and ringed by high fells.
In the distance the dramatic peak of Addleborough can be seen and Lake Semerwater is a pleasant walk away. It is handy for many of the areas famous attractions, including the bustling little market town of Hawes and the pretty villages of Bainbridge and Askrigg, with its pub which was used as the local in the James Herriot series ’All Creatures Great and Small’.
Raydale is a haven for wildlife, with hares and deer often sighted in the surrounding fields at dawn and dusk, along with a wide variety of upland bird life including pheasant, partridge, curlew, duck and of course, Lake Semerwater stocked with a variety of fish. The hamlet of Marsett is set high in the hills above Bainbridge, providing far reaching panoramic views of the dales and fells beyond. Marsett itself has true rustic country charm as cattle and sheep can roam freely on the village green. Horse riding and fishing nearby. Shop, pub and restaurant 3½ miles.

This former cart store has been converted into a quaint Dale’s stone cottage set just off the village green in Bellerby. With its streams and mill race running through Bellerby it’s a picturesque setting at the edge of Wensleydale. Entering the front door into the living/dining room with exposed stonework, flagstone flooring, beams and a large inglenook fireplace, the cottage offers an abundance of character and charm. The two settees set around the open fire offer a cosy feel while watching the Smart TV in Holly Cottage.
A dining table and chairs are positioned to the rear of the room. Going through to the kitchen, all the appliances, crockery, and utensils you need are available to rustle up some cosy meals while staying at Holly Cottage. The staircase from the living room is characterful with uneven treads and a rope banister to guide you up towards the two bedrooms. Both rooms offer comfortable beds, one being a double, the other offering bunk beds suitable for children with attractive quality linen and hand and bath towels available for each Guest. The compact shower room has a shower cubicle with a deep step in/out, toilet, sink and heated towel rail
To the rear of the property there is an enclosed picket fenced garden which includes a lawn area and flower beds, along with a stone patio with a table, chairs, and a bench to enjoy sitting at while taking in a morning coffee or firing up the barbecue for an alfresco supper. The South facing front garden is not secured for dogs but guests can happily sit there on the bench and watch the world go by. The shared front driveway which offers parking for 1 car. The attached property, Cherry Tree Cottage, has allocated parking for 2 cars on the same driveway. Both properties can be used by larger Groups if required. Please ask about this option.
Bellerby is a village situated on the edge of The Yorkshire Dales National Park with a local pub serving a selection of real ales but unfortunately no food and although there is no shop or amenities as such in the village the lovely market town of Leyburn is just over a mile away where an array of individual shops, pubs, cafés, and restaurants are available. If you are looking to get out and stretch your legs, whether walking or cycling, there are abundant established public footpaths, bridleways, and cycle routes available in the local vicinity with spectacular scenery, open countryside, and pretty Yorkshire villages to explore.
Within easy driving distance there is an array of places to visit whether it’s the historic Castle Bolton, Richmond Castle, Jervaulx Abbey or the stunning Aysgarth Falls, there is something to suit everyone’s taste. The children and adults alike will love Forbidden Corner with its quirky folly garden to explore or for the more adventurous why not visit the theme park, Lightwater Valley. Whatever you choose to do please immerse yourself fully in the Yorkshire way of life – once you experience it you’ll be wanting to return where a warm welcome to you will always be found.

For a relaxing day out venture further into the Yorkshire Dales to the picturesque villages of Grassington, 12 miles, and Kettlewell, 5 miles further, calling at Kilnsey Trout Farm on the way and a stop off to watch the climbers hang off Kilnsey Crag. Many walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found here and all around the area. Country pubs serving local produce are within easy reach should you wish to dine out during your stay, with the closest just 500 yards away and easily reached via a stroll through the estate grounds. Top Lodge provides a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but will come alive when filled with your family and friends, yet is within very easy reach of the main town of Skipton and surrounding attractions, what more could you want. This bungalow has been tastefully converted, enjoying the added bonus of fabulous rural views from the front and rear of the property. Additionally there is a four poster bedroom with uninterrupted views over the Dale. It is situated only a short walk from a traditional 17-century country pub serving locally sourced ales and food. The pub was the finish line of the first sprint in the 2014 Tour de France.

The area is a haven for ramblers and cyclists with beautiful walks and bike rides directly from the door. Within a short drive, there are several pubs, tea rooms and farm shops to visit. Nearby Leyburn, Hawes, Aysgarth and Kettlewell all have shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants to choose from.

Paddock House is a beautiful detached, stone-built bungalow situated in Middleham, Wensleydale, nestled away peacefully just behind Middleham village square. The property feels warm and welcoming no matter what the weather. There’s ample private parking at the property with a double garage that can be used for storage. It is an excellent property which is exceptionally large and offers plenty of space for all family members. There are two living rooms and the bedrooms offer a great combination for sleeping arrangements with a super kingsize, two zip and link super kingsize beds that can be made up as singles on request, and a double sofa bed. Hairdryers are available. There is a double vanity unit in bedroom 1’s en-suite bathroom, and a single vanity unit in the main bathroom. The bungalow is perfect for that family or group get together. Step out of the patio doors from the living room into a beautiful landscaped garden and patio, a lovely outside place to entertain or simply take in the stunning views. Beyond the garden is an enclosed paddock, which can be used by guests to enjoy when it is not being grazed by sheep.

Middleham is renowned for its castle, formerly home to Richard III, and several race horse stables. A fabulous sight to watch as the horses are led through the village each day up onto the gallops. Spend a day at the horse racing links and watch world class racehorses gallop down the track.
