Bamburgh is one of Northumberland's most popular tourist destinations, thanks to its sweeping sandy beaches and majestic fortification, Bamburgh Castle. This stretch of the county's coastline is dominated by the castle, which can be seen for miles. It is still home to the family of Lord Armstrong, the prominent Victorian industrialist, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Bamburgh village is lovely, despite being overshadowed by the huge castle, with clean grey stone homes facing a manicured town green. Excellent taverns, hotels with restaurants, and a limited range of village shops may all be found here. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and neighbouring Seahouses, and along the magnificent Heritage Coast, there are additional wide sandy beaches, delightful fishing villages, stunning castles, and coastal islands to explore. A short drive away are a number of other sights, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and Berwick-upon-Tweed, a historic walled border town. A fantastic starting point for exploring Northumberland.
