About this property

The Golden Fleece is dog-friendly, situated on the historic town of Thirsk’s cobbled market place and is perfectly positioned for visiting the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The hotel was once a famous coaching inn and is steeped in history with its Georgian coaching clock still hanging in the entrance hall and retains many features from the 1500s including a large, oak-beamed Inglenook fireplace. The hotel features a charming dog-friendly courtyard with pizza oven - perfect for casual dining after a day on the Moors and your dog is also welcome in the lounge areas. The hotel is fabulously placed for visiting York as well as the Dales and Moors and is also close to the coastal town of Whitby.

Although the village of Thirsk has some beautiful short walks around river Cod Beck, just 12 minutes by car takes you to the Sutton Bank National Park and when you walk to the top of the Sutton Bank escarpment you will be rewarded by one of the best views in England over the Vale of Mowbray. The hotel is also close to the North Yorkshire moors and the Yorkshire Dales national parks.
