About this property

Islay House stands as one of Scotland's most majestic and historically significant dog-friendly country house hotels, positioned at the heart of Islay, famously known as the Whisky Isle. Constructed in 1677, this stately residence is nestled in 28 acres of enchanting gardens and protected woodlands, offering a captivating vista overlooking Loch Indaal. Renowned for possessing one of the most naturally beautiful locations in the United Kingdom, Islay House beckons as a haven for those seeking an immersive Scottish experience.

The sweeping views from the ornate lawns to the sea loch and the picturesque Bridgend Woods enveloping the House contribute to the allure of Islay House. Boasting an idyllic setting, the hotel serves as an ideal base for adventures with your canine companion, providing ample space to roam and discover nearby beaches within walking distance.

The Isle of Islay, with its nine globally renowned whisky distilleries, Scotland's best-kept golfing secret (The Machrie), and a plethora of outdoor activities including sailing, fishing, shooting, and stalking, offers a diverse array of experiences to suit every taste.

Whether you seek a tranquil retreat surrounded by natural beauty or an active exploration of the island's offerings, Islay House provides a luxurious sanctuary. Immerse yourself in the rich history and breathtaking landscapes of Islay, all while enjoying the companionship of your furry friend. Whether you're savoring the peace and tranquility or indulging in the world-famous whisky, Islay House stands as a splendid refuge, inviting you to explore the Isle with your hound in tow.

Dine with Your Dog

If you would like to dine or breakfast with your four-legged friend the hotel can set up a table in the Drawing Room, alternatively they are more than welcome to rest their paws in the room whilst you dine. The hotel's own Community Garden provides a wealth of island, home-grown produce for the kitchen to provide a delicious menu. Executive Chef, David Thomson, takes advantage of the local catch before it makes its way to London and Paris. Tables are available daily from 10am for lunches and afternoon Teas, and evening meals are from 6.30pm. And if you are heading out for a day walking the Chefs would be delighted to put together a lunch hamper for you.
