Lavenham is regarded as one of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval villages in the UK, also one of the wealthiest areas in the country during the 12th to 16th century where the gentry stamped their mark. It boasts a wealth of listed timber framed buildings, now protected by English Heritage, and is just 2 hours by car or train from London. This very unique village was created some 750 years ago by Henry III when he granted Lavenham ’market’ status, and today, regular farmers markets are held. Bury St Edmunds is 11 miles away and Colchester is 18 miles, which boasts many shops, bars and restaurants. Ipswich, with its harbour and marina, is 19 miles and offers a great day out with walking access into the town with its shops.
