About this property

A white-washed fisherman's cottage situated in the quaint hamlet of Pennan, Aberdeenshire. This property lies within a row of cottages backed by cliffs and facing the seafront, with only a narrow road separating it from a rocky beach. In this remote area, you can only be contacted here if you want to be, making it the perfect bolthole for couples wanting a tranquil retreat from the rush and noise of everyday life. The living accommodation in the property consists of a homely sitting room complete with comfortable sofas and open fire overlooking the cove, a cosy spot for warming up after a day's hiking. The small galley kitchen has everything you need for cooking some tasty meals together and has a dining space at one end to sit and enjoy them. A second door leading from the kitchen brings you to a bright sun room with more dining space, ideal for taking your morning coffee or enjoying breakfast. The bathroom and dual-aspect bedroom are on the opposite side of the house, the latter of which featuring a double bedroom and beautiful views over the cove as well as over the garden. At the back of the property is an enclosed patio garden reached by a door from the sun room. It is surrounded by white-washed walls in keeping with the cottage's exterior and has a space with patio furniture for sitting out in the afternoon sun. Pennan consists of two rows of fisherman's cottages, including a hotel. For shops, galleries, tearooms and a village pub with meals and drinks available, the village of Gardenstown is a short drive with a selection of pubs, and supermarkets with petrol station, also offering a picturesque harbour. The town of Banff is also a short drive away offering a number of attractions and activities as well as Fraserburgh with its renowned lighthouse. St Magnus Haven is a serene base for those wanting to explore the beauty of the Northern Scottish coast. EPC Rating: Band E

Founded by Alexander Garden as a fishing village in 1720, the port village of Gardenstown is often linked with neighbouring Gamrie and Crovie as one community. Gardenstown borders a small sandy bay with beautiful scenery on both sides. The village has a pub that serves delicious food all year and a restaurant, galleries and several tea rooms in season. A steep road leads you through the ancient, narrow and winding streets to the harbour where many quaint boats are moored. The neighbouring town of Banff boasts a relaxing sandy beach and a variety of fascinating architecture in contrasting styles, exemplified by Duff House, an impressive Georgian mansion open to visitors and home to paintings and artefacts from the National Galleries of Scotland. Banff and the surrounding area also have a good selection of shops, restaurants and hotels, which serve a fine selection of local sea foods, whilst nearby Pennan, a beautiful old smugglers village, was the filming location for the movie 'Local Hero'.
