    Wheelwright’s Cottage is within a few miles of several very good gastro pubs. The owner is familiar with all of them and very happy to provide advice or help with table reservations. The market town of Ashbourne lies four miles to the west and is bustling with bars, restaurants and independent shops as well as supermarkets. Beyond Ashbourne, take a leisurely stroll along the nearby trails, such as the Tissington Trail or at Dovedale and soak in the natural beauty of the Peak District National Park. If you’re an adventure enthusiast, you’ll find plenty to do in the area. Engage in exhilarating activities such as cycling, horseback riding, or even hot-air ballooning to appreciate the breath-taking views from above. Further afield, don’t miss a visit to Chatsworth House or the stunning Heights of Abraham, a hilltop park with caves and a cable car ride. There are many eateries around this location consisting of pubs, cafés and restaurants to serve all appetites.

    The location is excellent, set within the landscape of Ashbourne, one of the Peak Districts most visited towns, there is so much on offer here from scenic walks on the Tissington Trail, the famous Dovedale Stepping Stones where you can also venture up Thorpe Cloud and take in the amazing views or if you wish to get the adrenaline pumping Alton Towers theme park is a 35 minute drive. Carsington Water is also nearby which offers many water sports activities, bird watching as well as having an 8-mile loop around the reservoir which is bike friendly too. Return back to The Stag’s Wallow and know you have a warm and comfortable base and just a short walk down the road is a lovely pub serving a varied menu with a lovely garden and electric vehicle charging.

If you are more of a thrill seeker Alton Towers theme park is a mere 15-minute drive. The townhouse sleeps six guests across three comfortable bedrooms. These consist of two double bedrooms with kingsize beds (the master has an impressive four poster bed) and a smaller bedroom with a small double bed. These are all located on the first floor along with the bathroom which has a large shower.
    On the ground floor is an open plan kitchen/dining room; the kitchen is modern and light with high quality quartz work tops and handy breakfast bar, whilst the dining area has ample room around the table for all guests. The living room with cosy lighting, comfortable sofas, a Smart TV and the owners have cleverly put a private screen into the windows to protect guests from walkers passing by but still allowing natural light into the room. There is a garden to the rear of the property that has been designed beautifully with outdoor seating. Please note that the residents of the neighbouring home do have a right of way for their bins. There is unrestricted on-road parking available.
