The pretty villages of Ashford in the Water, Litton, and Great and Little Longstone are within a 5-10 minute drive, as is the ever popular market town of Bakewell meaning an ample supply of local pubs, eateries, shops and attractions. Walks are available straight from the door including a path at Wardlow Hay Cop known as ’The Pingle’ which takes you to Cressbrook Dale, where in late spring orchids and cowslips bloom. The magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall can both be reached in around 20 minutes, and the towns of Buxton, Ashbourne and Matlock in around half an hour. Enjoy quality family time by staying in the beautiful area of the Peak District on the owner’s working livestock farm, where there is no light pollution and a great location for stargazing at night. Carr View (Ref UK36953) is one of two holiday properties finished to an extremely high standard and the owner takes great pride in ensuring you have the perfect stay. On the ground floor you will enter into the boot room, which has a neatly placed washing machine in a cupboard, kick your boots off and enter into the beautifully designed open plan kitchen which has all you need to enjoy your self-catering holiday with the dining room which has ample seating for six guests made up of chairs and a bench. The living room is very cosy with comfy sofas and an electric wood burner to bring a wonderful sense of relaxation to the room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with zip and link beds that can be made into twins on request, the master bedroom has a slightly larger bed and an en-suite. The family bathroom carries the same quality as the rest of the house and has been done beautifully, with walk in shower and bath.
Outside is a garden with a patio area and lawn, perfect to watch the sun rise and set. There is also a river running through the site, and a lake giving the opportunity for some cold water wild swimming!
The helpful owners, that live on-site, are on hand should you need anything, and provide luxury towels, complimentary toiletries, a welcome pack and even a Christmas tree for holidays throughout December.
There are electric car charging points just 5 minutes away in The Anglers Rest pub car park, and just 10 minutes away in the Hope village car park.
The location of this property offers seclusion with many fantastic countryside walks from the doorstep and a National Cycle Route nearby, so you wouldn’t really need to take the car. Or alternatively, a short drive into Castleton to visit the caves or venture into nearby towns of Bakewell and Buxton. Absorb the life of a working farm in the Peak District by visiting the cows, watching the lambs play and the chickens from the dining room window. This property really is the perfect base to explore the Hope Valley region of the Peak District, and close by is garden centre with café, a pottery and bike hire. Two pubs within 1 mile.

Renovated in late 2022, Top House has been finished to a fantastic standard, and is located in the village of Tideswell. You have everything you need right in the village such as cafés, a chip shop, a number of pubs and a local supermarket all just a couple of minutes’ walk away. Upon arriving at Top House, you can pull up to empty your luggage before parking your car nearby where there is ample free parking available (there is no immediate parking outside). Enter into the porch where you can hang up your coat and kick off your shoes, and then a cosy living room with comfortable seating and a lovely open fire awaits you. Step into the kitchen, which has all the appliances and equipment you should need during your stay plus a breakfast bar, and there is a back door opening on to the outside space. Here you will find a bistro set is and an outhouse which offers a hose should you need to wash your boots or pet down.
Top House is Grade II listed and really is in a great central location for exploring all the Peak District has to offer. There are many walks to explore in the rolling Peak District hills as well as cycle routes. You are within a short drive of the nearest towns, Bakewell and Buxton, which offer great parks, shops, food spots and Buxton is also home to the opera house which has theatre shows on weekly. Castleton is located around 7 miles which offers a fun day exploring the caverns via boat or take a trip to Chatsworth House to soak up its history and beautifully kept gardens.
