There is also a cinema and a great selection of restaurants, pubs and cafés. The resort of Newquay is about 16 miles to the north with its spectacular surf beaches at Fistral and Watergate Bay. Padstow, with its fine selection of restaurants influenced by Rick Stein is just over 20 miles. The yachting centres of Mylor, Falmouth and St Mawes are all within easy reach of the hut. There is a watersports centre at nearby Loe Beach where you can learn to sail or windsurf.     Barn Cottage has beautiful decor and furnishings, a bright ambience, a south facing patio area to the rear which opens onto the village green and a wonderful walled garden to the front to enjoy the late afternoon sun. The home is split level, with the entrance and large kitchen/dining room on the mid floor and three of the peacefully decorated bedrooms all with plenty of storage, along with a family bathroom on the lower ground floor. A further short staircase leads to the living room and master bedroom on the first floor with those cracking views, and a Juliet balcony behind some French doors to maximise the view. A cosy wood burner in the living room will warm up those chillier days. The south facing patio garden is a sun trap during the summer and is adjoined by the village green, a large field where children can run off some steam! The walled garden, deck and paved area at the front offer a wonderful space to enjoy the late afternoon and evening sun. Here also is a large barn where surf boards, bicycles and outdoor equipment can be stored.
    Rosecare is a quiet hamlet just up the valley from Crackington Haven in the parish of St Gennys. It is a beautiful walk down through the wooded valley to the beach. There you will find a pub, and two cafes situated next to the car park at the top of the beach, and will cater for most tastes. Crackington beach is covered by pebbles at high tide with plenty of rock pools to be explored but as the water recedes it exposes an expanse of golden sand which is one of the best surf spots in the county and is patrolled by lifeguards during the season. Crackington is equidistant between Widemouth Bay and Bude with a wide variety of restaurants and bars to the north and Boscastle to the south. There are majestic cliffs (Cornwall’s highest) just along the coast and some fantastically intriguing rock formations that are well worth a visit! Beach 2 miles

    Venture further afield and you will find many places of interest right on your doorstep. To the south, a short drive takes you to coastal Looe and Polperro or Cawsand and Kingsand- all steeped in history with tales of smuggling and wrecking, their narrow streets revealing an array of restaurants and shops and beautiful cottages too. The beaches on this part of the coast are numerous and offer coves, inlets and low-tide rockpools – perfect for children of all ages to explore! The beautiful towns of Liskeard and Tavistock have many amenities and superb architecture and are well worth a visit.
    Take the train from Liskeard railway station, all the way to Plymouth, where spectacular scenery unrolls before you as you pass through the Tamar Valley, an area of natural beauty.
