The lovely heated outdoor swimming pool is a great hit with families with children, and the Jacuzzi and sauna are favourites with adults. St Leonards certainly is a holiday base with a difference, situated in a wooded valley, it provides a comfortable and relaxing holiday for people of all ages though out the entire year. All the cottages are set on the edge of a courtyard over looking the stables and surrounded by 23 acres of private grounds which is also home to a ½-acre coarse fishing lake, or for something more energetic why not take part in a game of paintball available on site. There is plenty of birdlife here including kingfishers, so you often awaken to the sound of the dawn chorus!

It is an ideal location for touring the both north and south Cornish coasts and close to the Devon/Cornwall border so you can explore both counties from one base. Whether you wish to take it easy in our pool and bbq area, have a swim, ride a horse, try paintball or even go fishing on the River Kensey close by, there is plenty to keep you entertained and make you want to get out and about and feel invigorated by the fresh Cornish air. Out and about in the region you can head west by car to the Widemouth Heritage Coast and visit mystical Tintagel and Port Isaac Bay, or head east towards Dartmoor’s wilderness; whichever direction you travel in there is sure to be something new to see. Launceston, 2 miles, once the ancient capital of Cornwall, has shops, a steam railway, castle, golf and an indoor leisure centre. A variety of golf courses locally. A lovely hideaway for couples of all ages looking for a very rural, quiet location, tucked away in a peaceful spot, and away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A feature corner window in the dining area provides a spectacular view of surrounding countryside, across river valleys, woodlands, and fields. There is a well-stocked village shop and post office within 1 mile at Stoke Climsland and other pubs and restaurants in the local area. Conveniently located midway between the north and south coasts, The Platt is a perfect place from which to explore the stunning coastline, sandy beaches with seas for swimming and surfing, and attractive seaside towns. Lilly’s is a delightful barn conversion, situated on a working mixed farm in the middle of the beautiful Cornish countryside, and combines a mixture of traditional charm with contemporary facilities. The open plan living space is cosy, and has a well-equipped, contemporary kitchen, benefitting from a Nespresso coffee machine (pods not included). The living area has plenty of comfortable seating, a Smart TV and a multi-fuel burner. The bathroom, complete with a rain shower over the bath, is found on the ground floor. There is also a large cupboard under the stairs, with an iron, ironing board and fireguard, and its also ideal for hanging coats and muddy boots. Lanxton Barn is situated just outside the quiet hamlet of Coad’s Green, a few miles east of Bodmin Moor and with excellent access to both coasts, the A30 and also the stunning Tamar Valley. This rural location has very little light pollution and you can while away warm summer evenings gazing up at the stars above. There are dozens of excellent walks with Bodmin moor, the Tamar Valley and the north coast beaches all within easy reach. This is a working 100 acre farm so any dogs would have to be supervised and walked on leads if any animals are in the fields. At the top of the farm is the site of a hill fort with panoramic views stretching as far as Dartmoor. The farm has its own free range chickens and ducks with lovely farm fresh eggs available. Nearby are bluebell woods with wild orchids and there is single bank fishing available during the season. Lanxton Barn is situated on a working farm, with a local independent shop 3 miles away (not open late). For main shops Launceston is 7 miles away, but most grocery stores offer delivery. Standing on the headland above the picturesque village of Port Gaverne, the house is a few steps from the north Cornwall coastal path. The beach at Port Gaverne is a 6-7 minute walk away and a little further is Port Isaac, with its huddle of slate houses and narrow alleyways.
The state-of-the-art kitchen is great for catering and cooking the fresh local produce. There are two excellent fish shops in Port Isaac that sell their daily catch of fish and shellfish; specialities are crab and lobster.
Local lamb, beef and pork are all available at the nearby farm shop, which has wonderful views overlooking the sea.
Famous now as the setting for the TV series ’Doc Martin’, Port Isaac is a working fishing village with shops, bars and several top-quality restaurants.
This area is now renowned as a ’foodie paradise’, with several celebrity chefs located here and the area is very well served by a whole variety of dining places to fit every pocket.
Close by is a hotel and next door is a bistro, which has indoor and outdoor dining. There are two Michelin starred restaurants in Port Isaac run by Nathan Outlaw. Nearby in Padstow is Paul Ainsworth’s Michelin starred restaurant and he has a great pub too. Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant and Cookery School are in Padstow. Rick Stein also has a number of other restaurants with varying price ranges.
This is an ideal spot for those who enjoy coastal walks, bird watching, golf, fishing, surfing, sailing, kayaking, cycling or just lazing on the beach. Polzeath’s famous surf attracts all comers, and its glorious sandy beach is just a short drive away. The cliffs, caves and rock pools are a children’s paradise.
Within an easy drive are Padstow, Tintagel, Boscastle, Bude and Wadebridge.
Wadebridge hosts one end of the Camel Trail, with a 5-mile dedicated cycle ride to Padstow on the old railway track, alongside the picturesque Camel Estuary. To the north stands Tintagel’s medieval castle and the quaint fishing village of Boscastle, with Crackington Haven and Bude a little further on. Inland lies Jamaica Inn and Bodmin Moor, the setting for the ’Poldark’ stories.
A few minutes’ walk away is a water sports centre, Cornish Rock Tors, based on the beach at Port Gaverne. They offer kayaking, paddle boarding and coasteering for individuals and groups. Polzeath’s famous surf attracts all comers, and its glorious sandy beach is just a short drive away. Water sports can be enjoyed at Rock, from where a passenger ferry crosses the Camel Estuary to the town of Padstow. Daymer Bay has another glorious sandy beach, and the golf course at St Enodoc is open to the public. John Betjeman, the late Poet Laureate, is buried at St Enodoc Church, with its twisted spire.
