The beautiful beck, with its resident ducks, flows through the village and provides a great place for kids and dogs to cool off on warm days. The property is also only a few miles away from the historic market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, which can both be easily accessed by bus, and offer a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
Lealholme provides spacious and comfortable, single-storey accommodation, and has the added benefit of level access and wide doors. Tastefully decorated throughout, and with an enclosed garden, with double wrought iron gates, which provides parking and makes the perfect sun trap to sit and relax, perhaps whilst enjoying a purchase from the Lakes Distillery just down the road! The well-equipped, contemporary kitchen has slate tiled floors, Denby crockery, quality cutlery and utensils and an alcove, complete with a large electric range cooker. This fully central heated home from home, offers a large comfortable living/dining room with original pitch pine panelling, stone mullioned and sash windows offers a cosy and welcoming environment, complete with a wood burner. Lealholme also boasts a large walk-in shower with a Softstone base and a double shower head.
The village is situated in the north of the Lake District National Park, and is also just a short drive to Carlisle and the Scottish borders - it couldn’t be easier to explore the area. Bassenthwaite is a real community village which hosts an annual duck race, frequent pub quizzes and a vibrant, active local church arranging village fates, sports days and even Morris dancing. This beautiful cottage is just over a mile away from Bassenthwaite Lake, where fishing and sailing are available, or for nature lovers a walk up to the osprey viewpoints is well worth the effort. The property is ideally located for cyclists, with rides including the C2C and Cumbria Way routes, along with off-road trails at nearby Whinlatter Forest. However you choose to spend your stay, this is a perfect location to make the most of the Lake District. There is a dog-friendly, village pub serving food, just a short walk away, whilst Armathwaite Hall hotel and spa, Ravenstone lodge and Castle Inn all provide alternatives within 2 miles. Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Set in 18 acres of beautiful natural grounds and woodland, this charming wooden holiday lodge has its own private outdoor space along with shared use of an indoor heated plunge pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and table tennis table. Extended and refurbished in 2021, there is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a new kitchen, and a large veranda with seating and an external heater.
Right on the doorstep of the magnificent Langdales, 2½ miles from Ambleside and 8 miles from Coniston. It is a perfect base for touring and exploring the footpaths in the area with numerous woodland and hill walks straight from the door. Great for wildlife lovers, with deer and other animals freely wandering through this small, select woodland retreat. The Lake District Visitor Centre near Windermere is worth a visit (activities include high ropes, horse riding etc), as is the nearby water sports centre on Windermere. Pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Originally a traditional early 19th century Lakeland farm, Yew Tree Farm has been converted into a cosy, ground floor cottage, perfect for families and friends wanting to escape to the countryside. The cottage has a large gravelled yard area providing ample parking, as well as a place for children and dogs to play. Adjacent to the cottage is Yew Tree Barn, hosting many wonderful antiques and crafts, as well as Harry’s café, voted Cumbria’s café of the year for 2022.

The cottage is all open plan, offering a large living/dining/kitchen area with seating for six. The living area is well-furnished with an open fire and easy seating to relax and enjoy quality time together. The space also comprises a dining area with a table generously seating six, and a well-equipped kitchen complete with a range cooker. Past the kitchen along the hallway are two double bedrooms and a family bathroom. Further along the ‘L’ shaped building is a third bedroom with twin beds, a shower room and a large utility room – perfect for washing those mucky paws and leaving your boots and walking gear.

Bypassed from the A590, the tiny hamlet of Low Newton lies just inside the Lake District National Park. Its peaceful setting beneath the fells of South Lakeland provides the perfect base from which to explore the Lakes and the Cumbrian coast. Low Newton is also well served for good local places to eat and drink. Within walking distance at High Newton is Heft, a gastropub, opened in 2022, that has already earned national recognition, while a mile away is the friendly Royal Oak in Lindale. Three miles away is the village of Cartmel, the foodie capital of the South Lakes, famous for its sticky toffee pudding and the renowned Michelin three-starred restaurant L’Enclume. Also three miles away is Grange-over-Sands, a charming and genteel Victorian seaside town with a range of shops amply meeting the needs of any holidaymaker.

If you love visiting the lakes and rambling around National Parks, then Tebay is the place for you. Ramshead Cottage is detached and has a wealth of original features, it’s characterful and welcoming with a cosy country style, and on the doorstep of both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The views of the surrounding fields and fells are divine for those beautiful summer mornings, fast forward to winter and you can cosy up in front of the wood burner. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom is a twin bedroom allowing the option to have double or separate beds. Comfortable seating around the television and wood burner on the ground floor will help you unwind after a long day walking or cycling. There is a large kitchen offering all the amenities you would expect to be able to cook for you and your guests. Wines are available in the property which guests can buy, and the owner will donate £1 per bottle purchased to the Air Ambulance and Cumbrian Mountain Rescue. There is even an outdoor shed ideal for bicycles, canoes or even motorbikes. The local pub is ideal for a hearty Sunday roast after your afternoon ramble and Ramshead Cottage is within easy reach of Kendal, Penrith, Lancaster or Carlisle, making this quaint village a great commuter’s location. The moment you walk into this rustic style timber lodge you’ll feel a sense of warmth and homeliness. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is comfortable and has all the mod cons you need with cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and large TV, but chances are you won’t be spending time watching TV or Netflix, you’ll more than likely be trying to spot the red squirrels and deer that often roam around the grounds. There are two bedrooms, a master with a double bed and dressing table and the second has twin beds. The lodge is completed by a family bathroom with a shower. In the shed outside there are also a washer and dryer in case of those muddy fun days. The lodge is located in a park where all properties are privately owned and so has a real non-commercial feel. Guests are offered access to a small swimming pool and mixed sauna at certain times of the year, but the location of the park is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts with some superb walks at the edge of the park.

Neaum Crag at Skelwith Bridge is conveniently located between Coniston and Ambleside, two of the most popular locations in the Lakes. Ambleside boasts a wide selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and not one, but two cinemas. Waterhead Pier runs ferries which can be taken to Bowness and Lakeside pier near Newby Bridge, Wray Castle, and Brockhole Visitor Centre. Motor and rowing boats are available if you wish to take to the water. National Trust owned Stagshaw Gardens, offers eight acres of fine gardens with a wide variety of plants, trees and shrubs, and for more impressive natural features there is Stock Ghyll Force, a spectacular 70-foot waterfall which may be viewed safely from a railed viewpoint. Coniston is a few minutes’ drive in the other direction and as well as the town with its shops and pubs, there is Coniston water, which is popular for activities such as canoes, paddle boards and open water swimming. Step back in time in this traditional Lakeland cottage with original character beams and an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. The quality sofas and Smart TV make the cosy living area the perfect spot to snuggle up after a day of adventures. The dining area seats four comfortably and leads directly to the galley kitchen which offers all amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. For added convenience there’s a utility room to the rear housing a freezer, washing machine and sink. This area has plenty of room for drying clothes and for dogs to enjoy their own space! There are two bedrooms on the first floor, a large master to the front of the property having feature beams, an original wooden floor, king size bed and plenty of storage. The second bedroom located to the rear overlooking the pretty cottage garden has a double bed. The first floor has a bathroom and a separate toilet. Located in the bathroom is a P-shaped bath, which has a powerful electric shower over it, as well as a vanity unit with a mirror and basin. After a refreshing soak, meander into the sweet cottage garden around the back of the cottage and along a short path where you will find a gated lawn area (ideal for children and dogs), plenty of seating for the group as well as a BBQ and a summerhouse to enjoy. The garden is not overlooked and benefits from the afternoon and evening sun.
The pretty village of Ravenstonedale has lots of nice walks to enjoy. The village sits within the Yorkshire Dales National Park between the River Lune and Eden. This beautiful area offers views of the Howgills, riverside paths, limestone pavements, and challenging hill climbs. There is a few award-winning firm favourite pubs and restaurants a short distance away all have an excellent reputation. The Scar Art Gallery is worth a visit in the centre of the village. There is also the quirky Riverside Golf Course which has 18 holes but only 9 greens.
In the neighbouring village of Newbiggin-on-Lune, you will find Bessy Becks Trout Fishery. Visitors can also explore the nearby market towns of Kirkby Stephen and Appleby both steeped in history with plenty of cafés and shops to browse. Ravenstonedale gives you the choice of so many areas to explore and enjoy. The North Pennines with rolling hills, woodlands, and picturesque surroundings. The Yorkshire Dales National Park, with caves, waterfalls, iconic and historical towns and villages. In addition, the Lake District National Park with its lakes, mountains and tourist hotspots is also easily accessible by car.

Hillside Farm Cottage is a two-bedroom cottage in the popular Cumbrian coastal location of Allithwaite, the helpful owners live next door. The property itself was once the former farmhouse to the surrounding land and countryside. Renovated in 2020, this beautiful modern cottage offers well-proportioned rooms and is perfect for couples and families to relax, unwind and explore the sights of the South Cumbrian Coast. Allithwaite is a short drive from both Grange-Over-Sands and Cartmel and is only about 7 miles from the southern tip of Lake Windermere with easy access to the higher fells. The local pub is a short walk away, where a warm welcome is guaranteed and delicious food is always on offer. Grange-Over-Sands and surrounding districts offer an interesting selection of historic seaside resorts and quaint rural villages. Grange is an elegant town with a long, sweeping promenade fronting the bay, lined with antique and collector’s shops and cafés. Cartmel, famous for its priory and race meetings, is well worth a visit, if only to sample the local sticky toffee pudding. For family fun, take a ride on The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway which connects directly to The Windermere Lake Cruises at Lakeside, opening a delightful sailing trip to Ambleside and Bowness-on Windermere on England’s longest lake.

This area is also perfect for cycling, an ideal mode of transport to take in all the wonderful sights this area has to offer. Being very close to the modest seaside resort of Arnside, this stunning property is perfectly placed to enjoy all the local area has to offer. Arnside village has several cafes serving great coffee and cake, a few independent shops to browse, a bakery, and a couple of pubs serving pub grub and good ales too. If you love fish and chips, a local fish and chip shop, which is extremely popular with the locals, is a 5-minute drive away. You can sit on the pier and take in the spectacular sunsets from here.
A local nursery is close by with a garden centre, growing nursery, food hall, home and lifestyle shop, gift shop, garden cafe and wood-fired kitchen, all on one site! The local caravan park at Silverdale is also worth a visit, on rainy days you can enjoy a gentle swim, sauna and steam room, for ultimate holiday relaxation. Conveniently located between Kendal and Carnforth, the medieval market town of Milnthorpe is a 10-minute drive away, here you can find a supermarket, petrol station, four takeaways and two pubs. Levens Hall and Gardens is a 20-minute drive from the property, is famous for the world’s oldest topiary gardens with a wonderful café, and is also very popular with locals, serving delicious home-cooked food. Being not too far from the A6, the rest of the Lake District including Bowness and Windermere are a mere 30 minutes’ drive away and the Yorkshire Dales, with the popular market town of Kirkby Lonsdale and the Water Fall Trail at Ingleton, is equidistant. Morecambe and Lancaster can also be reached within 30 minutes.
You are welcome to bring your dog. If your dog enjoys relaxing on a sofa, the owners ask that you provide your own dog blankets to place on the sofas to protect them. They would also ask that at the end of a muddy walk, you clean your dog (towels are provided) in the porch area before allowing the dog into the rest of the property.
