On the first floor you have a kingsize bedroom featuring a TV, along with a twin bedroom. The bathroom offers both a bath and a shower cubicle, providing convenience and comfort for your stay. Step out from the kitchen into the generously sized, lawned, enclosed garden with comfortable furniture which makes it an excellent spot to relax and soak in the fresh air. The property provides driveway parking for one car, with additional street parking available if needed.

Take a stroll through the local nature reserve, visit Chesterfield town centre known for its iconic crooked spire, where you can enjoy shopping and cafés. The Peak District is home to Chatsworth House, a magnificent stately home with stunning gardens and beautiful art collections; it is a must visit for history and architecture enthusiast. There are many different walks to be enjoyed around the entirety of the Peak District. Through the fields alongside unused railway tracks and hilly trails, there’s plenty of countryside to see along the way whichever route you take. You can easily fill your time in Derbyshire with activities to suit all your party with the knowing of having Red Robin Cottage to return to at the end of the day to relax and unwind in comfort.

These large attractive properties, situated in the grounds of the owner’s home, are just off a track in peaceful countryside, yet close to many amenities. Stenson Hill Farm can accommodate the largest family party, with own snooker room and attractive conservatory providing the dining area for the whole party and a lawned garden and large patio, whilst Stenson Lodge accommodates the slightly smaller group and has an attractive lawned garden overlooking the owner’s aviary with exotic birds. Both enjoy views over surrounding farmland and boast built-in barbecues. There are many attractions around with Calke Abbey and Derby with its theatres, clubs and restaurants within a 15 minute drive, whilst Ashbourne and Dovedale are 15 miles. Well worth a day out for any family or group are Matlock Bath, 20 miles, Alton Towers, 22 miles and Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, a comfortable drive away. Nestling in the stunning scenery of Goyt Valley this wing of the owner’s farmhouse retains many of its original features and beams. This spacious holiday accommodation, situated on a working farm, is in an ideal place to explore this lovely area, and is also in a conservation area, with walks from the doorstep. It is 1 mile from Whaley Bridge where you can stroll along the tow path to the Buxworth Basin or take a narrow boat trip. Whaley Bridge also has a train station to help explore if you want to leave the car behind. You could spend a day in Manchester and take in a show for the evening. 6½ miles away is the famous spa town of Buxton which also boasts an opera house and Pavilion Gardens. Book a day in the Dome Spa to relax or travel a little further and visit Chatsworth House and its amazing gardens and estate. Medieval Haddon Hall and the old market town of Bakewell is a must and you can travel through Winnets Pass to the charming village of Castleton with its famous caves where the Blue John stone is mined. Take a tour by boat through these caves and learn about the history of the people and how they mined them. Matlock Bath and Alton Towers make great days out for families. There are plenty of activities to enjoy locally including inhouse clay pigeon shooting lessons (at cost, by arrangement with owner) and there is also golf and horse riding located within 5 miles of the property. Set on the owners’ farm with far-reaching countryside views, this detached barn conversion offers modern facilities along with original exposed stone and wood. This working farm with cattle, ducks, geese, chickens and horses is an ideal holiday location (stabling available). Walks from the doorstep and coarse fishing ½ mile away. Helicopter rides available locally (weather permitting). Close by are Chesterfield, Ashover, Matlock, Chatsworth House and Bakewell. Golf and horse riding within 5 miles. Moorecroft is a spacious, open-plan, contemporary property with a large indoor swimming pool, a 7ft cinema screen with Sky Sports, and a games room. The property is decorated and furnished to a high standard with many quirky features. It is powered by OVO green energy. Cavendish Golf Club is 5 minutes’ walk from the house, and a walk from the front door into the hills or a stroll into the heart of Buxton takes less than 10 minutes. Buxton has much to offer including its spectacular Pavilion Gardens, the amazing Devonshire Dome with its Victorian spa, the opera house, as well as unique shops and restaurants to cater for all tastes. Guests may like to arrange a visit to coincide with a show at the Buxton Opera House which is a fantastic venue for all sorts of shows. Comedians such as Alan Carr, Shaun Lock and John Richardson have all made appearances, as well as music from Russell Watson, The Buzzcocks, Bellowhead and Heaven 17. Tribute bands to Pink Floyd, Abba and Queen have also featured, as well as many plays, operas and children’s shows. There is an abundance of places to visit from stately homes such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, together with many great villages to visit. The adventure park of Alton Towers is worth a visit, or enjoy visiting caverns, cycling along trails, golf at Buxton or stride out on one of the numerous walks. Yew Tree Cottage is located in the quaint village of Holymoorside, one of the many hamlets in Chesterfield. It is home to two fantastic pubs, one of which is owned by Peak Ales meaning it has fantastic local beers on offer, and the second pub’s head chef featured on the Great British Menu and offers fantastic food options. There are ample walks directly from the door or a little further you can reach trails taking you to Linacre reservoir or into Matlock which is the next town on. The town is full of high street shops, great restaurants and there are many tourist attractions locally such as Chatsworth House which is only 6 miles away.
As you arrive at Yew Tree Cottage you are greeted by a fantastic garden with stunning views over the village and the countryside, enter the cottage into the spacious, social space the kitchen offers, with breakfast bar, dining table, sofa and skylight windows with an unspoilt view of the sky, there is a snug just off from here with comfortable sofa, TV and log burner. Also on the ground floor is a shower room which has a handy storage area for boots and coats and the main living room offering comfortable seating, a large TV with Sky and a second wood burner. Up the stairs to the first floor is the family shower room, a single, spacious bedroom and also a twin bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe. Abacus House started life out as the local village school in Hackney, Derbyshire. It is believed to date back to 1910. This charming characterful Grade II listed cottage opens its front door onto the open veranda corridor, once having many small feet running along to get to class on time.
Abacus House boasts a very high specification, with a modern stylish kitchen and bathroom, but manages to retain its quirky stylish twists throughout. A large open plan living area leads through to a dining area, still housing the characterful open grate arts and crafts fireplace, and then to the kitchen, with its large feature windows throughout, letting the light flood through the whole of the ground floor. A staircase leads to an upper floor with its fun and interesting layout, including a bed and bathroom, along with a seating area complete with cushions to relax on and enjoy the view from the school windows.
Set within the beautiful area of Matlock, you are within easy reach of one of the most stunning parts of the Peak District. The closest attractions are Matlock and Matlock Bath, giving the opportunity to explore the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver’s Kingdom accessed via cable car, and offering spectacular views of the Derwent Valley. From here you can tour the network of caverns and passageways, or walk over 60 acres of woodland hillside. This is an ideal base from which to explore the region’s attractions including the magnificent stately homes. The beautiful Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are an absolute must see, or visit the picturesque villages of Bakewell and Ashover (Cardale in TV’s ‘Peak Practice’) which are both close by. Excellent walking can be found from the doorstep, plus activities at Carsington Water including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and cycling, plus excellent birdwatching in the surrounding areas.
