This pretty, semi-detached cottage is tucked away in a courtyard in the very heart of the rural village of Youlgrave in the beautiful Peak District. Meadow View is a cosy cottage perfect as a base for couples or families and their furry friends from which to explore the wonderful scenery straight from the doorstep. Located in a quiet location with amazing views, you cannot help but relax and unwind in this picture-perfect cottage.
The cottage embraces modern times, but still has a nod to its past keeping some original features. It offers two beautifully designed bedrooms exuding tranquillity and calm, as well as a modern bathroom on the first floor. Downstairs, after a day exploring, you can sink into the comfy sofas in the living room in front of the crackling wood burner in its feature stone fireplace. The separate dining room also has a wood burner and leads into a well-equipped kitchen with a beautiful flagstone floor. To the front of the cottage is a a sizeable garden with artificial turf and planted borders. There are beautifully kept stone walls and pathways leading to the front door and side entrance to the rear garden. The rear garden has a sunny patio area, excellent for outside dining, with the main area laid to artificial turf and raised beds housing a wide range of colourful plants.
Youlgreave is one of the larger Peak District villages, with narrow streets running for about 1½ miles. This fantastic location makes a great base for outdoor enthusiasts and sightseers alike with walks galore. The market towns of Ashbourne, Matlock and Wirksworth, with their variety of attractions, shops, coffee shops and restaurants, are all within a 30-minute drive. Chatsworth House and Ntional Trust Haddon Hall are just 15 minutes away, and for cyclists and walkers the famous Monsal Trail offers traffic-free peace. For the thrillseekers, Alton Towers theme park can be reached easily from this location. All in all Meadow View is a perfectly formed holiday cottage for both you and your furry friends in the most perfectly formed Derbyshire village.

Starry Cottage can be found in a prime location just a few minutes’ walk from the independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants in the centre of the popular, historic market town of Bakewell. In the heart of the Peak District National Park, this Grade II listed cottage dates back to 1820 and has been fully renovated combining the traditional comfort of a wood burning stove with beautiful luxury touches such as granite work surfaces and limestone floors.

Bakewell itself holds a beautiful riverside setting and is surrounded by spectacular countryside perfect for committed ramblers to fair weather walkers. Its market day is every Monday, with an additional farmers’ market held on the last Saturday of the month. Other key events include the popular Bakewell Show, Well Dressings, Carnival Week, Bakewell Arts Festival and the Bakewell Music Festival.

The spectacular limestone dales of the traffic free Monsal Trail and Lathkill Dales are easily reachable in under 10 minutes as are Chatsworth House, with its 100 acres of landscaped gardens, and the medieval manor house of Haddon Hall. A popular base for tourists wanting to explore the areas neighbouring villages include the stunning Ashford-in-the-Water and Rowsley, and the major cities of Sheffield, Derby and Manchester can all be reached in around an hour. Matlock and its cable car can be reached in around 15 minutes, Chesterfield, Buxton, Castleton and Edale in around half an hour and UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers in about an hour.

This cosy, spacious and traditional cottage is situated in the heart of the village of Bradwell. It has been furnished to a very good standard and offers an excellent base for walking, cycling or just relaxing. Bradwell village boasts a thriving high street of shops including the famous Bradwell Ice Cream shop, a family run fish and chip shop, bakery, coffee house and small supermarket. There are four pubs in the village to suit every taste, all providing food and most allowing children, dogs and muddy boots. A huge range of superb walks are in Bradwell and the surrounding area, including a very popular walk direct from Bradwell to Castleton a must see village at any time of the year. There are excellent transport links to and from the village with Hope Rail Station only minutes away, being on the direct line for Manchester and Sheffield.
The cottage enjoys free Wi-fi and a TV with Freeview, a DVD player and a games console with a good selection of DVD’s, books and tables games for the family. Dogs are particularly welcome, with doggy bowls provided and a treat pack to ensure they don’t miss out on all the fun!

For the narrow boat experience, take a trip on the Mercia Swan or enjoy a delicious selection of food throughout the day or perhaps afternoon tea on The Boat Street Café. For those of you who like to fish, all of our guests automatically qualify to the Mercia Marina Angling Club and can fish free of charge at designated places within the marina, so bring your fishing gear! There are some sizeable carp and pike, along with many other species of inland waterways fish.
Viburnum Lodge is the perfect place to explore the stunning Derbyshire countryside and all of the local attractions the area has to offer. There is a huge enclosed dog walking field around 30 seconds from the property, ideal for your four-legged friends. From the marina, there are beautiful towpath walks along the Trent and Mersey canal. The local village of Willington is a 15-minute stroll up the canal. Here you will find pubs, restaurants, shops, takeaways and Willington railway station.
A little further afield, you’ll find the breath-taking views and quaint market towns of the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales. Many different National Trust properties, such as Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and Sudbury are not far away. The National Memorial Arboretum and Alton Towers are nearby too.

Rosemary Lodge is a Nordic style lodge sleeping 4 people and set in a green and tranquil lakeside area within the 74 acre Mercia Marina with its range of fantastic facilities. Nestled in this secluded part of the Marina with lodges sited around a picturesque lake, Rosemary Lodge has its own unique atmosphere. The owners have combined neutral tones and natural textures to give you a truly restful experience. Relax on the sofas and take in the views from the large French doors or step outside onto the spacious veranda and enjoy your morning coffee while watching the birdlife.
The lodge comprises a high specification fully equipped kitchen with an adjacent dining area provides plenty of space for leisurely meals. There are two good sized bedrooms; one with a kingsize bed and private en-suite and a twin room also with en-suite.
The largest inland marina in Europe, Mercia Marina has a host of facilities on-site within a few minutes’ walk of the lodge. These include cafes, restaurants, a deli, and a general store. The Boardwalk is a promenade of boutique retailers – clothes and gift shops, a beauty salon, a jewellers and interior design shops centered around the two-storey bar and restaurant (go upstairs for the best views). Stroll along the raised wooden walkway to watch the colourful boats and the wildlife, stop for a coffee and cake, or treat yourself to a glass of wine. You’ll also discover nice walks within the Marina grounds with ideal spots to sit, relax and watch the world go by. If you fancy boating along the canal, the Mercia Swan runs trips in summer. The Marina has its own Community Bicycle scheme, which provides bicycles free to use for residents and visitors (bring your own helmet!).
Rosemary Lodge is the perfect base to explore all that the local area has to offer. Close by Willington, Melbourne, Tutbury and Repton are lovely villages, the latter being the capital of the ancient kingdom of Mercia. If you like to explore on foot, there are interesting walks including the Trent and Mersey Canal with its towpath and locks. We provide for your use OS Explorer maps and maps of circular walks in the local area including the National Forest. It’s a great base to explore the Peak District too, the market towns of Bakewell, Belper and Ashbourne, the world-famous Potteries including Denby Pottery Village and the many nearby National Trust properties. For wildlife lovers, the Willlington Wetlands nature reserve is just the other side of the village and is home to newly introduced beavers (and their kits, born in 2021) as well as many species of bird. At Mercia Marina itself, you may see heron, geese, ducks, swans, grebes, kingfishers, oystercatchers, goldfinches, bullfinches and long tailed tits.

Approached off the main road in the village of Cutthorpe, this beautiful contemporary annex is part of the owner’s home and estate but has its own entrance, driveway and parking facilities. The accommodation is a haven for wildlife and tranquillity.
Enter through the front door into this contemporary part of the house which was renovated to offer guests two bedrooms, one with a stunning en-suite also a family bathroom. Soak in the stylish bright and airy, open-plan living room/kitchen/dining room for you to relax in. The modern kitchen is a delightful space to prepare a meal, complemented with quartz worktops, range cooker, American style fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The handy utility room off the kitchen includes a washer/dryer and separate sink. Enjoy lazy breakfasts at the nearby dining table and on an evening retire to the comfy sofas in the living area. Put your feet up in front of the crackling wood burner or curl up with a good book overlooking the garden through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The property has the real wow factor which will captivate you, with a large fish tank recessed into the wall beside the kitchen, which is a real magnet to watch. Situated in a ½-acre landscaped garden which is shared with the owner. There are many seating areas tucked away in different spots to ensure privacy. Whether it’s sitting in the courtyard outside the annex, on the bench overlooking the magnificent views, or testing your skills on the private tennis court.
The picturesque village of Cutthorpe is a wonderful place to call home for a while when visiting the Peak District National Park. The village offers numerous footpaths to enjoy, with Lincare Woods and reservoirs on the doorstep, or you can explore the glorious surrounding hills and multiple eateries where you can sample local, seasonal delights. Chatsworth House, Hardwick and Haddon Hall are within a 20-minute drive and each offer historical charm and wonderful gardens to explore throughout the year. Pop into the nearby town of Bakewell, the home of the traditional Bakewell pudding and wander around the streets lined with independent shops or stop for lunch by the river which runs through. This property really is the ideal place for a fantastic taste of the Peak District and Derbyshire.

Meadows Huts, Foxglove (UK37639) and Forget-Me-Not (UK37646) are located just outside of the quaint village of Parwich, 5 miles from the nearest town, Ashbourne. This area of the Peak District is fantastic for exploring the countryside. The High Peak trail and the Tissington trail are both within 3 miles of the huts as well as recognised cycle routes. Dovedale is a must to visit whilst in the area, read up on the history of the steppingstones and take the walk yourselves up Thorpe Cloud where you will see breath-taking views well worth the hike. If you are more of a thrill seeker Alton Towers is only a 20-minute drive which makes a fun day out for all the family or take on some water sports at Carsington reservoir.
After all this enjoy a nice meal in the evening at the local pub. Foxglove and Forget-me-not are two similar shepherds’ huts, both finished to an incredible standard with home comforts in mind. The open plan living space has a double bunk bed allowing space for four guests, a dining area with a TV, there is also Wi-Fi provided and electric radiators. The kitchen is well equipped with electric oven, hob and fridge, plus there is a shower room within the hut. Outside a barbecue and firepit are provided with outdoor furniture, overlooking the fields.

Nestled just beyond the Cromford Canal in the pretty village of Whatstandwell sits Barley Cottage (ref UK32240) and Wheatsheaf Cottage (UK32242), a perfectly located haven ready to welcome you for your break in this wonderful are of Derbyshire. Sympathetically renovated throughout, they combine character and charm together with the all-important wood burner to cuddle up in front of on a cold winters evening. The cottage is part of a Grade II listed former inn believed to date back to the 1600s. In its prime The Wheatsheaf Inn is reported to have been a very popular public house. In 1880 Florence Nightingale considered purchasing the property to convert into a coffee house and reading rooms, to offer an alternative to alcohol for the working man, as all-night drinking sessions were not uncommon at that time.

You can enjoy countryside, forest and canalside walks right from the doorstep of these perfect retreats, while the more serious outdoor enthusiasts can head to the magnificent Peak District National Park to experience some of the finest scenery that England has to offer. Head into nearby Matlock where you will be able to sample some of the wonderful food in the many eateries on offer, and the lovely, quirky shops to pick up a souvenir. Why not visit the amazing Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, where you can reach the stunning hilltop park via a cable car ride, with cavern tours and walking trails to discover at the very top. Learn of the local history at the Peak District Mining Museum and explore the interactive exhibits and uncover the life of a Derbyshire lead miner. A family friendly adventure can be found at Matlock Farm Park, which is home to a host of lovely animals and a fantastic play area to keep the little ones entertained, as well as a riding school too. A real must is a visit back in time to Crich Tramway Village, where you can take a trip through history at The National Tramway Museum, or explore the magnificent Chatsworth House in Bakewell, a filming location for the feature film ’Pride and Prejudice’, as the handsome Mr Darcy’s Pemberley Manor, set within vast grounds and filled with a magnificent collection, including artefacts from Ancient Egypt, some of Europe’s best art collections and modern sculpture. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, and to the north are the market towns of Bakewell and Hassop - not to be missed! Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile and restaurant 500 yards.

Sycamore Cottage is a stunning cottage located on the edge of the quirky village of Bonsall. Walk through the garden to the front door and you will see the sunken hot tub and an enclosed courtyard with patio furniture. Step in to the kitchen, finished with a modern interior whilst still keeping the tradition of the house, there is everything you should need here to cook up your favourite meals, and a dining table to enjoy it at. The living room has a large TV and ’wood burner effect’ electric fire with a comfortable corner sofa, perfect for relaxing in the evenings. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms and with lovely views down the village. One of the double rooms can be made into twin beds on request. There is plenty of roadside parking close to the cottage.
Explore the village with its unique roundabout feature and quaint pubs. There is a walk along the Limestone Way straight from your doorstep which is a route running from Bonsall to Matlock. You are a short drive from Matlock Bath which boasts the famous illuminations annually, Gulliver’s Kingdom and The Heights of Abraham. Ensure you take a visit to Chatsworth House, a fantastic estate to walk around and explore.
