Situated on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park just outside the pretty village of Bratton Clovelly, Four Chimneys offers a unique escape in beautiful surroundings. With a large private garden, off road parking, plenty of living space and easy access to some of the most picturesque landscapes in the UK, this four-bedroom character cottage is a perfect base to explore what Dartmoor has to offer. Built from traditional Devonshire cob, this 200-year-old four-bedroom property has plenty of character and offers a peaceful escape for up to eight guests.
After an action-packed day exploring Devon and Cornwall, head into the cosy open plan kitchen/diner which is well-equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer with a water dispenser and an oil-powered Aga (which is available to use between November to March). The island counter with two stools, granite worktops and bi-fold doors opening out into the garden are a beautiful feature. The handy utility area next door has a washing machine, tumble dryer and a cloakroom. Wander into the two living rooms which offer plenty of space; the first with traditional beamed ceilings, armchairs and a wood burner, and then two steps down you will discover the second room, comfortably furnished with plenty of seating, a Smart TV with Freeview and another wood burner. Perfect for watching a film with your family whilst enjoying the glows of the fire in the background. Head upstairs where there are four beautiful bedrooms. There are 3 steps leading to the first bedroom which has a kingsize bed, a Smart TV with Freeview and an en-suite with a walk-in shower and a bath with a shower head attachment. The second bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite with a shower cubicle. The third has a double bed with a beautiful view of the garden and the fourth has twin beds. Two of the rooms share use of the family bathroom which is fitted with a walk-in shower. Guests can enjoy private use of the large, enclosed garden which is a magnificent space with tiered levels and a secluded patio area next to a recently constructed sun room. A small stream runs at the end of the garden and there is outdoor seating, a firepit and a charcoal BBQ. Full of colour and wildlife, this is a wonderful haven for guests to enjoy alfresco dining or a peaceful morning coffee.
The nearby picturesque village of Bratton Clovelly is just a short 5-minute walk away and is home to the highly recommended Clovelly Inn where a warm welcome, fine ales and good food awaits. The uphill climb to the pub is great for building up an appetite! Home to 368 square miles of natural delights, Dartmoor National Park boasts a plethora of walking and cycling routes leading you through steep wooded river valleys to enticing archaeological sites. There’s so much to explore here, with ample opportunities for outdoor activity including canoeing, climbing, geocaching and more. The property’s West-Devon location means that it is possible to reach both the north and south coasts of Cornwall and Devon in under an hour. Located under 3 miles from Crackington Haven, a coastal village at the head of a cove on the Atlantic coast and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is popular with tourists, walkers, surfers and geology enthusiasts. At high tide the shoreline is mainly stony but when low you are greeted to a lovely golden sandy beach with plenty of rock pools to enjoy. And surfers, both experienced and beginners enjoy the varying tidal conditions the cove provides and with lifeguard cover from July to end of September you can relax a little bit more too! Locally there are also tea rooms and a pub to enjoy. On-site, there is a shared games room with pool table, air hockey, dart board, large chalk board, disco ball and bluetooth speaker.
If it’s the beach you want with miles of sand, swimming and surf then you’ll be spoiled for choice in the wider area. Much of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover within a short drive of this property including Boscastle, Morwenstow and stunning Tintagel, inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur. Further afield the fishing port of Padstow is a popular tourist destination too. Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited, you will want to come back to time and time again. It has something for everyone including great beaches for relaxing and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafés to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the South West Coast Path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside.
Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and a heritage centre at Bude Castle. Lark Rise is perfectly located for all the attractions and stunning scenery that North Devon has to offer and is under 2 miles away from the nearest beach at Westward Ho! which is popular for surfers as well as sunbathers alike, at low tide you can even walk across the bay. The house is in a desirable road and offers private parking for up to 5 cars. The property comprises four bedrooms on the first floor, two king size both with an en-suite, a small double, a twin room and a family bathroom. Downstairs you will find a separate toilet, a utility room with a handy pulley clothes airer. There’s a well-equipped kitchen with breakfast table and a pod coffee machine for tasty barista style beverages. Through the doors you walk into the living room/diner which is a comfortable place to sit and relax with the cosy wood burner. Northam is a small market town lying just north of the historic port town of Bideford and less than 2 miles south of Westward Ho! which offers an array of seaside amenities including free public tennis courts, some fascinating curiosity shops and a range of restaurants and cafes, many of which are regularly visited by locals for their quality fayre. The beaches are a main attraction of this area for many, and the Southwest Coastal Path also runs through Westward Ho! This is a must for keen walkers, runners, and view seekers! Paddling, surfing, canoeing, entertainment for all the family and fishing are all close by too. The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed approximately 3 miles away providing the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by foot or by cycle allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery while discovering the towns of Barnstaple and Bideford where you can wander during their weekly pannier markets, with a host of local produce, quality cafes and crafts on offer.

Squirrels Nest is a charming, semi-detached Georgian cottage located in a quiet village 4 miles from Westward Ho! beach. The village of Littleham, with its lovely pub The Crealock Arms (only a 10 minute walk) is just 3 miles from Bideford, which is the second largest town in North Devon and has plenty to see and do. It has a lovely riverfront and port, which was once Britain’s third largest. Other beaches, such as Westward Ho! and Instow are firm favourites locally and only 4 miles away. The South West Coastal Path is a must for keen walkers and runners, as is the popular Tarka Trail, which stretches for about 180 miles and can be accessed locally. It provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by foot or bicycle, allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river views and enjoy various treats along the way through Instow, Fremington Quay and onto Barnstaple, North Devon’s historical regional centre.

Being very close to the A39 Atlantic Highway, the property is conveniently located for day trips to other beautiful places such as Exmoor National Park with stunning dark skies for great star gazing and locations such as Clovelly, Hartland and North Cornwall. Broadacre House is a lovingly renovated, three-bedroom house just outside the centre of Brixham, in Torbay. The property has undergone complete refurbishment throughout and provides comfortable and quality accommodation.
As you enter the property via the side door (nearest the driveway), there is a useful area to hang your coats and shoes directly next to the utility room, which houses a washing machine and tumble drier. This entrance then leads you into the modern, well-equipped kitchen/dining room, perfect for whipping up a good breakfast before heading out to explore the surrounding area. Next to the kitchen is the living area, with Smart TV and plenty of seating. On the ground floor is the family bathroom and a bedroom with a double bed, there is also a snug with smart TV and double sofa bed, perfect as a separate relaxing space for guests or to keep the children occupied.

The historic port town of Bideford offers a taste of traditional North Devon life with its weekly pannier market. The sandy beach of Westward Ho! is popular with surfers, windsurfers, and beach lovers alike and is just 2 miles away from the property. Family attractions include the Big Sheep and Milky Way theme parks, Dartington Crystal Factory, Tapeley Park, and the Tarka Trail, which is popular with walkers, runners and cyclists and follows a disused railway line all the way to Barnstaple and Torrington in the opposite direction. Pebbles is situated in a surprisingly peaceful beachside location, just a couple minutes’ walk from Budleigh’s pebbled beach, the coastal path and the main high street with its quintessential shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants. As you enter the property you are greeted by a cosy living room, a beautifully furnished room with comfortable sofas, a wood burner and a TV, an ideal relaxing space to wind down in after a busy day exploring the coastline. There is an additional sun room which offers the perfect spot to read a good book and the dining room offers a great space to enjoy a celebratory meal with your family and friends. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything needed to prepare a home cooked meal and there’s also a handy utility area leading off it. The first floor is divided into two with a separate staircase to access each area. Bedrooms three and four are accessed by a staircase from the kitchen. The nearby town of Bideford provides both a pannier and open-air market, and from the pretty quay you can enjoy a trip to Lundy Island on the famous Oldenburg.
