Cherry Garth Cottages are located in the centre of Thornton le Dale, ’Yorkshire’s little gem’. Cherry Blossom has been named after the cherry trees which border the garden. The cottage has been built from beautiful traditional Yorkshire stone, and is tucked away in the grounds of the owner’s home Cherry Garth. It has an open plan living area with a welcoming wood burner to snuggle up in front of after a busy day out exploring the spectacular Yorkshire coast and countryside, and upon arrival you will be welcomed with a lovely welcome pack with tea, coffee and biscuits. There are lovely views from the property onto the garden and the bedroom window overlooks the paddock, where sheep graze.

The picturesque village of Thornton le Dale is located on the edge of the North York Moors, a mere one mile from Pickering. From here you can take a ride on the famous steam train to Grosmont, Goathland (aka Aidensfield in the classic TV series Heartbeat) and the seaside town of Whitby where you can climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. Those looking for a quieter pace of life may prefer to walk the many footpaths and bridleways over the North York Moors.

Set in a small hamlet, these carefully converted holiday cottages form a courtyard development where every care has been taken with the design, internal furnishings and their impact on the environment. Bell’s Barn (prop ref 25899) stands detached from the other cottages and is suitable for wheelchair users. There is also enclosed paddock where your dogs can run free! Just a short walk from Crakehall, claimed to be one of the prettiest villages in the Dales, with a large village green overlooked by an imposing manor house where cricket and quoits teams often play. Nearby, the historic town of Bedale, 2½ miles, offers a weekly market every Tuesday and various events during the year, together with a range of individual shops, restaurants and pubs. Masham, renowned for the Black Sheep Brewery, is 10 minutes’ drive and Richmond with its Norman castle, Georgian architecture and thriving theatre is also easily accessible. Historic York and its many attractions is within easy driving distance. Alternatively, just enjoy the wonderful Yorkshire countryside either by car, bicycle or on foot. Shop and pub ¾ mile. Nestled away and surrounded by fields and farmland, just outside the popular Yorkshire village of Middleham, Curlew Barn is the perfect destination for guests wanting to enjoy a quiet, romantic break. Jervaulx Abbey was once a great Cistercian monastery and is certainly worth a visit to explore the history and also to enjoy a spot of lunch in the popular tea rooms. A little further afield but still within walking distance, guests will find footpaths leading up hills and down dales, through natural, unspoilt woodland and open countryside, to many attractive Yorkshire towns and villages situated just a few miles away. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty really does offer some of the most magnificent scenery and stunning views, and should be visited at all times of the year just to appreciate the sheer beauty of the landscape. Guests will find an abundance of top quality local inns and restaurants offering fresh, local produce and comfortable surroundings. The Forbidden Corner is only a few miles away and really must be explored by guests of all ages. This once private folly is now open as an attraction to the public and offers guests a fun filled day out with twists and turns round every corner. A little further afield but still within an hour’s drive, guests will be able to visit popular destinations including Ripon, Aysgarth Falls, York, Thirsk, Northallerton, Hawes, Barnard Castle, Richmond and Durham. Visit Ryedale Folk Museum and Rosedale Abbey, or for a day out, try the North York Moors Railway. Whitby has miles of sandy beaches and an ancient abbey overlooking its harbour. Riccal Heads (ITS) has a large dining table which can seat 10 people, perfect if both properties are booked together. The area is excellent for both walking and cycling and the picturesque villages and quaint market towns await exploration. Hutton le Hole (1½ miles), is home to the Ryedale Folk Museum, giving an insight into traditions of the past, Helmsley
(10 miles) has a weekly market, an abundance of traditional teashops and the historic attractions of Duncombe Park, the Walled Garden and Norman castle ruins. Easily accessible is Dalby Forest with its 9 mile scenic drive and an award-winning visitor centre. The North York Moors Steam Railway offers a step back in time and a leisurely way to enjoy the scenery. Departing from Pickering
(10 miles) it passes through Goathland and Grosmont on its way to Whitby, with its stunning coastline and ancient abbey. Granary Farm Cottages lie on the south facing slopes of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. This former farm is 1 mile from the village of Sawdon. Great for bird watching in the gardens or forest, with Raptor View Point a short drive away. The area also has dark skies so ideal for avid stargazers. Convenient for Scarborough, Whitby and York, and the market towns of Malton, Helmsley and Pickering with its steam railway. Castle Howard and Heartbeat country are an easy drive away. There is an award-winning butchers in the neighbouring village of Brompton. North Yorkshire Water Park is 6 miles from the properties.
