For those with children, Quackers Play Centre is only a couple of miles from the property, whilst the the National Cycle Museum in Llandrindod Wells is well worth a visit. For those wanting to go further afield, then the Elan Valley is approximately 10 miles away, where there are plenty of walks/cycle trails to explore, along with fabulous dams. There are golf courses in Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells and horse riding is available within 10 miles from the villa. There is so much do and see locally. Explore the Coast with its lovely sandy beaches. The Norfolk Broads National Park offer miles of waterways to explore. Why not hire a day boat, for the more adventurous go kayaking, paddle boarding or sit back and enjoy a river trip? Plenty of eateries located alongside the water to enjoy. Visit the Golden Mile at Great Yarmouth and experience a host of traditional seaside attractions including the Pleasure Beach fun fair.
Thrill seekers are also sure to enjoy a day out at Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park at Lowestoft. For a change of pace, visit Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens and take the tiger walk across the treetops. Nearby Caister Castle features a classic car museum. Enjoy a day at the races, both horse and dog racing available locally.

Downlands Farm is nestled in the heart of the beautiful Hampshire countryside with wonderful views across the peaceful valley. This rural haven is only 10 minutes from Petersfield, with fantastic road and rail connections for London and Portsmouth. These two holiday cottages Edward’s Cottage (ref UKC1818) and Louisa’s Cottage (ref UK11596) are set on a small working farm and just off a green-lane leading to miles of footpaths, bridleways and on and off-road cycling within the South Downs National Park. The cottages offer light and airy open plan living accommodation, and have ground floor bedrooms and a special ‘hideaway’ bedroom/playroom to accommodate children.
The barns have been converted from original agricultural buildings and have been sympathetically designed to blend with the surrounding countryside, while offering comfortable accommodation. For biking enthusiast there is a shared bike shed for bike storage and by arrangement, guests are welcome to bring their horses and make use of the Loddon stables. There are three local pubs within the vicinity, all within a half hour stroll or a 3-minute car journey away. The bustling market town of Petersfield is a 10-minute drive, and has a range of shops and restaurants, and along with the two local village shops; these provide all you need for stocking up on essential items. The cathedral cities of Chichester, Guildford, Portsmouth and Winchester are all 45 minutes away, and offer a range of shops and entertainment. The beautiful beach at West Wittering is an hour’s drive away, and this lovely location is ideal to visit, whatever the time of year, and is perfect for all ages. During low season (October to April), you can ride your horse at any time on the beach at West Wittering, and during the summer months you can ride before 9am and after 6pm.
Hayling Island has a children’s fun fair and a shingle beach, and is within half an hour from Downlands Farm. The cottages enjoy direct access to miles of scenic walking and cycling routes through the beautiful countryside and pretty villages such West Meon, where you can enjoy lunch at one of the pubs serving food, and where Thomas Lord rests, founder of Lords cricket. The market town of Petersfield has a range of restaurants and shops, and if you fancy a day trip to London, the local train service takes approximately one hour. There are several attractions in the area that are worth a visit, including Portsmouth with the Spinnaker Tower, HMS Warrior and Nelson’s HMS Victory, along with the historic Winchester Cathedral, King Arthurs Round Table, and Southampton with its extensive maritime history. For walking and riding the vast heathland of The New Forest National Park is ideal. For a cultural day out, try historic Chichester with its cathedral and festival theatre, and not forgetting the Watercress Steam Train, Jane Austen’s house, Gilbert White’s house, Marwell Zoo, Birdworld and the Queen Elizabeth Country Park which is the other side of the valley. Tucked away on a quiet country lane just 5 miles from the sandy beaches at Chapel St Leonards is this spacious bungalow ideal for a family break with a large garden including a big summerhouse and plenty of space for everyone to enjoy.
Within 15 minutes’ drive you have the traditional seaside resorts of Skegness and Mablethorpe, Fantasy Island, Butlins, Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve as well as The Lincolnshire Wolds. A nearby footpath through the field takes you to the village pub where you can have food, and is a 10-minute walk away, before you return to soak in your own private hot tub and enjoy the open view across the fields.
For those wishing to enjoy a very popular gastro pub there is one at Skendleby approximately a 10-minute drive away. You can even bring your family dog, with two small dogs welcome, but please be aware there could be cattle or sheep in adjacent fields. Old Low Farm Cottage is a charming, white washed, detached cottage situated on the cliff side, just outside the village of Aldbrough and near Hornsea. The cottage is single-storey with well proportioned rooms. Upon entering you will find a good-sized hallway with plenty of space to hang coats and store your buckets and spades. With modern units and appliances, the chef in the group will enjoy preparing delicious, home cooked meals here. The spacious living room has large, comfortable sofas which surround the hearth and wood burner, and the large windows let in lots of light giving this room a homely feel. The village of Aldbrough is a few minutes’ walk away in which you will find the village shop and the local pub. The town of Hornsea is no more than 10 minutes’ drive and has everything to entertain families, from a long sandy beach, central garden and a traditional promenade to amusements and lots of ice cream and fish and chips shops! Hornsea Mere offers watersports and fishing opportunities whilst Hornsea Freeport is a shopper’s paradise. Beverley is a short drive from the coast and has an excellent racecourse with a full racing calendar throughout the year. The market towns of Driffield and Market Weighton are also well worth a visit. A little further afield is the historic city of York. For those who enjoy exhilarating cliff walks, Flamborough and the Bempton Nature Reserve are close by, providing the opportunity to see puffins during the summer months. The stately homes of Burton Constable Hall and Grounds, Sledmere and Burton Agnes Hall aren’t far away and for a rainy day, a visit to The Deep, a spectacular aquarium based in Hull, is an absolute must. With the unspoilt Yorkshire Wolds on the doorstep, offering miles of cycling and walking opportunities, this pretty Yorkshire coast cottage is an excellent base for a wonderful holiday. Owl Barn is situated in a peaceful, rural location between Boston and Skegness. The property is also close to RSPB Frampton marsh which is just 20 minutes drive away and is a very popular spot for birdwatchers and nature lovers to visit. For those visiting shows at Sheepgate Equestrian, Owl barn will make the perfect base as it only 2 miles away. Boston, famous for its Stump and for St Botolph’s Church which sits alongside its market place. There is also the Maud Foster Windmill which is always worth visiting, along with many good shops, restaurants, cafés and pubs for refreshment.
To the north is the traditional seaside resort of Skegness, great for a family day out with its fun fair, amusements, pier, aquarium, and long sandy beaches for strolling alongside the sea. After a day out you can return to your own cosy wood burner and a private hot tub where you can sit back and relax with open views across the fields. Set in the historic town of Leyburn in the heart of beautiful Wensleydale, this comfortable, detached and cosy holiday home has a conservatory, a living room with oak floor and has something to offer to guests of all ages. A short drive away is Hardraw, home to England’s highest unbroken waterfall. The Shawl is only a few steps from the Market Place in the centre of Leyburn and is accessible for walkers of all abilities and ages. Hop on the Wensleydale Vintage Bus to Ripon or Hawes, or ride the train on the Wensleydale Railway. Visit the nearby Forbidden Corner attraction in Coverdale where guests can follow a trail of follies, or the Georgian market town of Richmond, which offers many shops, restaurants, pubs and tea shops. This beautiful and historic town in is settled high above the River Swale and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area and the chance to browse the weekly market and monthly farmers’ market with local produce and crafts. Within an easy 2-hour drive is the historic cathedral city of Durham with its cathedral, castle and city walls.
