This is a super location for spotting wildlife, and nearby Gillingshill Reservoir has a variety of water fowl, including coots, little grebes and swans. Look out for rare green sandpipers during the migration season, and in late summer the air is filled with dragonflies and damselflies. The woodland also hosts a multitude of wild flowers in spring.

    Four miles away is the magical old harbour village of Pittenween which oozes charm. There is a working harbour where you can watch the boats landing their catch and purchase freshly caught fish for your supper. If you would like to catch your own, fishing is available from the piers in St Monans, Pittenweem and Anstruther. Wander around the old lanes with their coffee shops or visit the harbourside ice cream shop for refreshments. For a walk along the shore, the Fife Coastal Path follows the coast to old fishing villages, pretty coves and sandy beaches where lots of sea life is visible from the shore.

    Refurbished in 2021 and decorated to a high standard throughout, you will enjoy staying in this lovely house. The open plan living room and kitchen is spacious has seating for six to enjoy their meals and leads to the conservatory where you can enjoy the views of the beautifully landscaped garden and the fields behind. From the enclosed garden you can see the sea and if you head out through the back garden gate you can follow the path down to the harbour. There is a slight slope leading down to the path. As well as plenty of cleverly designed seating areas in the garden there is a summer house where you can go and relax with a book. Upstairs there is a modern shower room and three bedrooms. Two of the rooms have kingsize beds that can be converted into twins if needed, and a single room. This house is great for a family or a small group of golfers.
    St Monans is one of the smallest of the many picturesque fishing villages in the East Neuk of Fife. Located approximately 10 miles south of the historic town of St Andrews, with its world famous golf courses and University, and a wonderful selection of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, St Monans is the perfect base for exploring this beautiful area. Take a walk down to the harbour with its many charming 17th and 18th century pantiled houses that crowd the harbourside. St Monans lies directly on the Fife Coastal Path, so is very popular with walkers. The remains of Newark Castle, with its circular beehive dovecot are further along the coastal path to the west of the village. You can walk to the popular arts and crafts village of Pittenween where the annual art festival is held, within a twenty minute stroll.
