Little Whitley is the former staff quarters to the main house, which started life in the 1600s, and has since been sympathetically restored into a stunning self-catering holiday property for up to four guests. The cottage lies within a private 200-acre family-run farm and boasts its own enclosed orchard and courtyard. The orchard leads on to a footpath which, in one direction, takes you to the village of Hookagate with a pub that welcomes dogs and is popular for food, and a regular bus service to Shrewsbury. In the other direction the footpath leads to Hanwood, also with a village pub and local shop. Whitley provides the perfect destination for couples, families and anyone looking for a relaxing rural retreat.

Dogs are more than welcome at Whitley and there is so much to explore with them in the local area, fantastic walks along the river or across Lyth Hill, or 15 minutes in the car will take you in to the Shropshire hills. Although the property is rural, you’ll be pleased to learn that Shrewsbury is only 10 minutes away by car or an easy bus journey. Set on the banks of the River Severn, Shrewsbury is one of the country’s most picturesque medieval towns. Dotted with flowers and parks, and renowned for the historic Shrewsbury Abbey and Castle, this bustling town is home to a lively independent shopping scene, restaurants, bars and some unforgettable days out. Ludlow is a thriving medieval market town in Shropshire and an architectural gem with a lively community feel, busy with events and festivals throughout the year and just under an hour away. In a quiet location just 2½ miles from Ellesmere, this beautiful, detached, converted barn has been lovingly furnished to a impeccable standard with its own private, south facing garden and patio to the rear. The property is decorated with a Christmas theme during the festive season. Adjacent to the owner’s home, it is ideally placed for exploring the counties of Shropshire, Cheshire, mid and north Wales, and is surrounded by popular tourist destinations and attractions, such as Llangollen with its horse drawn canal barges, steam railway, white water rafting centre, Erddig and Chirk Castle, Powys Castle and Attingham Park. Chester racecourse and the medieval towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Bridgnorth are an easy drive, not forgetting Ironbridge, a World Heritage Site. The Barn at Whitefields is situated on the national cycle route 81, between Aberystwyth and Wolverhampton, which will also appeal to cyclists. Visit the city of Telford with it’s fabulous shopping centre, parks and world-famous Iron Bridge and Gorge museums.

The property is placed on a quiet walkway in Historic Ludlow. The house offers welcoming and comfortable accommodation over four floors and is bursting with charm and character from exposed beams to original oak flooring. This is a great base within walking distance of an array of restaurants, cafes, pubs, boutique shops, and the historic castle.
Walking in the front door there is space to hang coats and kick off your shoes. The ground floor has an open plan sitting / dining room flooded with natural light through the original sash windows looking out onto the large garden. The sitting area with its comfy sofa and chairs is the perfect spot to relax and read or watch TV in front of the open fire. A beautifully crafted wooden staircase takes you down to a well-equipped kitchen with double doors out to the garden. A breakfast bar with two stools perfectly positioned to enjoy watching the designated cook whip up a feast from the lovely local produce you’ve picked up that day while enjoying a pre-dinner drink. Wooden stairs lead from the dining area up to the first floor with a large comfortable double bedroom and a lovely bathroom where you can enjoy a candlelit bath in a freestanding bathtub. Heading up to the second floor is a double bedroom and ensuite shower room with gorgeous, high exposed beams and charming rooftop views across to Whitcliffe Common.

Ludlow was described by Poet Sir John Betjeman as "probably the loveliest town in England". Sheltered by Mortimer Forest and the Clee Hills, the town is filled with a wide variety of listed buildings that meander alongside the banks of the beautiful river Teme. Guests can also enjoy several award-winning Michelin Star restaurants, the famous Ludlow market, Wycliffe Common and a variety of superb independent coffee shops, eateries, and river walks for a wonderful day trip.

These two properties are in the pretty village of Burwarton, at the foot of The Brown Clee Hill, and located just a minutes walk from a country pub ’The Boyne Arms’, which has been renovated and is run by the owners’ of these properties. The Boyne Arms offers fantastic meals in a most comfortable and cosy setting, the beer garden outside now includes private pods which guests can use to enjoy their drinks and food outside (see their website for opening and serving times). Included in your short break will be a return journey to either Ludlow or Bridgnorth, to enhance your stay without the need to worry about transport.
The Old School House 1 (UK32061) is a three bedroomed property of which one is en-suite and has a mezzanine balcony overlooking the open plan living space. The Old Kitchen (UK32062) is a studio apartment with the bedroom area in with the living area.
Burwarton is close to Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Ludlow and Bridgnorth which all offer an array of attractions as well as a large range of shops and bars. For the more active guests there are many walks to enjoy such as Clee Burf and Brown Clee Hill which is the highest point in Shropshire. The town of Ludlow is also just a short drive away and highlights for the day include Mortimer Forest and Ludlow Castle. After a long day walking and exploring all that Shropshire has to offer. Head into the rural hamlet of Croesau Bach in Shropshire to Pentregaer Issa. Located less than 4 miles from the lovely market town of Oswestry, Pentregaer Issa was built in 1823 but has now been renovated to become a beautiful getaway for couples or small groups of friends. After coming up the private driveway, guests can enjoy the living room with its comfy sofas, TV and electric fire. The well-stocked and homely kitchen offers a selection of essentials to get started with some cooking, as well as an Aga in the colder months to enjoy. You are also greeted with a lovely welcome with milk, eggs, butter, tea and coffee from the farm. There are two sumptuous bedrooms, one with kingsize bed and the other with a double bed, as well as a large stylish bathroom with a clawfoot bath and shower attachment.
There is no Wi-Fi at the property, so you can fully unwind and switch off from the world. For those wanting to dine alfresco in the summer sunshine, there’s garden furniture and a barbecue out in the garden, meaning there are opportunities to relax whatever the weather. A short walk behind the cottage, over the owner’s land, is the best kept secret of all, and the real wow factor about this property - the private lake, resting in 10-acres of land and offering utter peace to unwind. The owners have placed a picnic table there to fully make use of in the warmer weather.
The owners’ property is adjoined to the cottage, but will respect the privacy of guests and are on hand for help, advice and to do any essential washing of clothes at the farmhouse. Guests are free to roam around the 10 acres of the farm and explore the grasslands, meadows, woodland and the lake, complete with wonderful wildlife and rare species of flowers.
For those who want to venture a little further there is so much on offer within a 20-mile radius. Find traditional pubs and local shops in the nearby hamlets and villages, or spend a day shopping in Oswestry or Shrewsbury, both beautiful towns with historic buildings and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or a drink. Explore the wider region and travel across to Wales for Snowdonia National Park, the North Wales coastline, and beautiful Lake Vyrnwy and Bala.

Jackdaw Cottage sits on the Glyndwr’s Way footpath on the edge of the beautiful town of Knighton, within easy walking distance from the Offa’s Dyke Visitors Centre as well as the restaurants, bars and cafes in the town centre. It is on the south facing slope of a lovely small green valley know as ‘the Cwm’. The stone property is 200 years old with exposed stone walls and oak lintels. It has a large, enclosed garden and patio overlooking the wooded valley with private access to the clear babbling brook. The cottage has been renovated to a high standard in 2022/2023 with some beautiful character features throughout, perfect for a family holiday or romantic break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. it’s great for children and your four-legged friends to run about in this open space whilst you watch on, with a glass of something nice and listen to the local wildlife.
Throughout the year there are some lively fairs celebrated, and all year round, you will find an array of antique and gift shops, tea rooms, old inns, good food and friendly locals in Knighton. Local attractions include Offa’s Dyke Heritage Centre, Powys Observatory with Planetarium Show, golf, clay pigeon shooting and coarse fishing. The historic town of Ludlow, Hay-on-Wye with its antiquarian bookshops, and Presteigne all host cultural festivals during the summer months and are just a short drive away.

Ludlow town offers guests a wide variety of things to do and sights to see; it is overshadowed by its own majestic castle, as it was once, like York, a seat of government in Tudor and Stuart England. It hosts the famous Food Festivals and events throughout the year, there is always a lively atmosphere in the town. It has a reputation for fine foods, speciality and antique shops, and even a racecourse. The castle hosts a number of events that run throughout the year, including being a beautiful spot for weddings. There are many walks in and around the town and guests can walk to explore the town or to visit one of the many pubs or restaurants. An excellent base to explore the unrivalled countryside for picnicking and walking, or nearby towns such as Bridgnorth and Bewdley with the Severn Valley Railway, Ironbridge, Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Tenbury Wells and Leominster. The cathedral city of Hereford with its chained library and Mappa Mundi are all within a short drive, as are historic houses such as Witley Court, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, Stokesay and Powis Castle on the Welsh borders. The property boasts an enviable position in the town close to many town amenities and within easy walking distance.
