Cairnswood is a bright airy and comfortable lodge for couples or friends to have some downtime, relax in the bubbling hot tub on the raised deck which wraps around the lodge, and sit and watch the world go by. With some trees and greenery at the front, the lodge is ideally located, offering some privacy, yet only a short walk to the on-site restaurant and café. This 40-acre country park is home to a pretty lake with resident swans and wildlife where you can take an evening stroll then perhaps something to eat on-site or take a few minutes’ drive to one of the many restaurants and pubs nearby.

Located close to the A1 yet you feel like you are in a country retreat, best of both worlds for exploring the local area. Children with you would love the Northumberland Zoo which is only half a mile or within walking distance for those who enjoy walking. Burgham Park Golf course is only half a mile, ideal for the golfers in the family. Nearby Alnwick is home to the Duke and Duchess where you can visit the majestic castle used in some Harry Potter scenes, or visit the Duchess enchanting water gardens then meander the streets soaking up the history.

Nearby Morpeth is a very pretty little market town with some wonderful bars and restaurants and an Edwardian shopping arcade to explore, as well as river boats down on the river Wansbeck. Being close to the A1 means you can travel in all directions going somewhere different every day, perhaps a day over at Hadrian’s Wall taking in the Roman Forts and glorious countryside would appeal to you, or perhaps a day trip to the Dark Sky International National park would suit, or maybe even some retail therapy in Newcastle where you can enjoy the Quayside and culture of the streets and buildings.

The Willows is an attached single-storey cottage situated in a small village around 3 miles south of Amble. The accommodation is well presented throughout. The living room is spacious and leads to a bright and airy conservatory which overlooks the large fully enclosed garden at the rear. The dining kitchen is well equipped. There are two double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms along with a contemporary bathroom and additional shower room making this pet friendly property a suitable choice for the gathering of families and friends. Set within 7-acres of gardens and country parkland, shared with owners’ home, enjoy a variety of wildlife - you might spot otters, heron or the occasional deer! Chickens and ducks wander freely - a real escape to the country!
Black Bee Cottage offers beautiful spacious accommodation with a touch of luxury. Inside, the central hallway separates the ground floor bedroom on one side, tastefully decorated, with luxurious a kingsize bed. To the left side, a cosy snug with wood burning stove perfect for a late-night tipple or gathering for board games in front of the fire. The stylish lounge has vaulted ceilings with doors that open onto the garden. Comfortable sofas are arranged around a log burning stove set within the inglenook fireplace and Smart TV for your entertainment. The kitchen/diner is a great social space and superbly equipped to cater for a larger group or special occasion. Open plan with beautiful glass ceiling lantern making this a light and sunny room. Linztford makes a perfect base to explore our fabulous local attractions. Perfect for walkers and cyclists, the Derwent walk and C2C is nearby. The National Trust site at Gibside is 3 miles, take a step back in time at Beamish the Living Museum of the North (8 miles), or head further north to Hadrian’s Wall and visit the Sill discovery centre and Roman fort at Vindolanda (30 miles). The cosmopolitan City of Newcastle (10 miles) with a host of shops and restaurants and galleries. To the south the historic city of Durham with its stunning Castle, Cathedral and riverside walks is less than 15 miles away. Beach 20 miles.

A charming stone built mid terrace cottage situated in the heart of Ryton, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Park up right outside the property in your private space to the rear, or head to the front of the property where there is multiple on street parking.
Before entering the property soak up the tranquil countryside views that surround you. The sitting room is furnished with two plush sofas, a Smart TV with Freeview, and an multi-fuel wood burner with a fabulous original surround. The décor is well thought out and homely throughout. Stepping through the property, locate the large open kitchen/diner, well-equipped with essential appliances, including an electric oven and gas hob, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, and a dining area with seating for six. From here, to the rear of the property you will find the downstairs WC and utility area which houses a tumble dryer and washing machine. For those seeking the best of both worlds, Ryton most certainly holds the key. It is picturesque and close to the city, so location is perfect. There is plenty to see and do in the area including golfing, fishing, and cycling. Some of the best golf courses are on the doorstep of Emmaville, including Close House Golf Club, Tyneside Golf Course, and Ryton Golf Club, keen golfers really are spoilt for choice here! If golfing isn’t your thing head to Stargate Ponds and Bewes Hills for some fishing, a fantastic spot enjoyed by many. For those that love being out surrounded by nature, wildlife, and unspoilt natural beauty head to Ryton Willows nature reserve, which is great for riverside walks with its woodland, grassland and ponds. It proves a real beautiful spot to sit and relax with a picnic.
The Tyne is still tidal at Ryton. As a consequence of this, the water is slightly salty, and this influences the flowers growing on the bankside. Look out in summer for the purple-blue heads of sea aster. Common seals are frequently seen up the river, attracted by the wide range of fish, including salmon. Birds to see along the river include grey heron, kingfisher and goosander. Ryton Willows also sits on the site of the only Registered Battlefield in Tyne and Wear. The Battle of Newburn Ford, which took place on 28th August 1640, was an important event leading up to the start of the English Civil War.
After a fun filled day why not enjoy a pint of ale at one of the local pubs, which also serves great food. Throughout the year there are a number of events, one big event is Ryton’s Annual Music Festival which takes place in February and March each year, It has been held in the village for more than 60 years, and offers a variety of music and drama, including choral singing and mime. Other big attractions to Ryton are Beamish, Hadrian’s Wall, and The Metrocentre. Wherever your city escape takes you, be sure to start it from the homely comforts of Emmaville! Beach 16 miles. The traditional fishing village of Amble, known locally as ’the friendliest port’ is only 3 miles North where fishing and boat trips to Coquet Island can be arranged. 9 miles south is the ancient market town of Morpeth, where the river Wansbeck winds its way behind the town’s shopping area which offers a wide range of facilities. Alnwick Castle (used as the location of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) has outstanding gardens created by the Duchess of Northumberland, which includes a lovely woodland walk, a grand cascade waterfall and a restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. There are train links from Morpeth, with trains taking 50 minutes to Edinburgh and just 20 minutes to Newcastle.

Step out your front door and stroll to the shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants in this small market town set on the edge of the National Park. It is said that "Postman Pats’s Greendale" is based on Wooler, being the gateway to the Cheviots.

West House is only 15 miles from Berwick on Tweed, with a beautiful beach and plenty of shops and history. Northumberland is such a diverse and friendly county with the beautiful Heritage Coast only 15 miles to Bamburgh, with a cliff top castle from where you can follow the trail and take in the history, a lovely day trip. Holy Island Causeway is only 14 miles where the Lindisfarne Gospels were kept (check the tides). The location really is ideal for exploring in all directions of Northumberland and Scotland’s Border counties.

Wooler itself has that country feeling while still having a market town buzz, combining home comforts with countryside. You can be hiking the Cheviot Hills in the morning and having a local beer in one of the nearby pubs on an evening. St Cuthbert’s Way walk passes via Wooler, a 62-mile route following the ancient pilgrimage route, followed by St Cuthbert and many other monks between Melrose Abbey in the Scottish Borders and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne in north Northumberland. Beach 15 miles. Pub, shop, and restaurant 170 yards.

Head to the historic Bamburgh Castle, taking in the endless coastline views that Seahouses has to offer. Local boat trips host unforgettable family days out to idyllic places including the Farne islands, a real treat to see the nature of the north east at its best.

Once you’re done exploring the endless Northumberland coastline, head back home to admire the views from your stylish living room.
