Wonderfully located on the slopes of Rydal Fell, and approximately ¾ mile from the centre of Grasmere village, The Old Coach House is a comfortable and traditionally furnished apartment. Set within Wood Close, a large Victorian, stone-built country house which is divided into several independent properties, The Old Coach House has been refurbished to a high standard and offers many modern amenities and facilities while retaining its traditional character and charm.

The spacious living/dining room looks out over the gardens from the panoramic windows, and is furnished with a sofa, easy chairs and farmhouse dining table and chairs. There is a large-screen Smart TV, comprehensive sound system and a wide selection of local books, information guides, walking maps and board games. The modern kitchen has garden views and is well-equipped with a multi-function oven/grill, induction hob, wine cooler, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, TV and breakfast bar. The bedroom also overlooks the garden and has a kingsize bed with 100% cotton bed linen, an antique wardrobe, a wash basin and a Smart TV. The bathroom is equipped with a roll-top bath, electric shower, toilet and washbasin. The heating is thermostatically controlled heaters.

Within Wood Close, there is a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, shared with the other apartments, with an honesty box to cover costs.

Wood Close has 3 acres of grounds, comprising of woodland, gardens, a panoramic terrace and sitting out area, all of which can be used by our guests, and which are also shared with the other apartments in the house. From the terrace, there are dramatic views of Grasmere lake and Loughrigg Fell. There is a small, unfenced pond and stream in the grounds, which is home to red squirrels and many species of birds, and where wild deer are also occasional visitors. Each apartment has its own allocated parking space, with private parking for 1 car specifically for visitors to The Old Coach House.

This homely holiday apartment retains all of its traditional charm for a peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable holiday in the heart of the Lake District. It is an excellent base for walking, with easy access to the fells, Alcock Tarn, and the famous ‘Coffin Route’ directly from the garden. There is a gentle downhill walk to Grasmere village (passing William Wordsworth’s home at Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Grasmere centre on the way), and from there are easy routes to both the lower and upper slopes of the village’s surrounding fells. In the village, you will find an attractive selection of bars and restaurants, and a wide variety of shops, including a small supermarket, post office, newsagent, chemist, baker, outdoor equipment retailers, gift and art shops, a garden centre and the famous Grasmere gingerbread shop. The graves of the poet William Wordsworth and his family are situated in St. Oswald’s parish churchyard. Ambleside, 4 miles, and Keswick, 13 miles, offer a range of further shops, attractions and amenities, and there are several historic houses and gardens locally. Shop, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Carlton Cottage is a characterful well-equipped ground floor apartment fully refurbished for the 2019 season. There is an excellent choice of restaurants, shops and pubs in close proximity and the stunning Derwentwater, Queen of the Lakes, is only a short stroll away, where you can hire a rowing boat and visit the famous Theatre by the Lake. For the more energetic, the fells of Latrigg and Catbells are within easy walking from your doorstep.

This luxury pine log cabin is equipped for every modern day convenience and comfort, enjoys views from the terrace towards Latrigg and Skiddaw and has views over the lawn and brook from most rooms. All bedrooms have wardrobes and well lit dressing tables.

This beautiful first floor apartment at Swan House has spectacular views across the valley to the Skiddaw Fells. A former 17th century coaching inn, Swan House was converted in 2006 into exclusive apartments and cottages. Set in delightful grounds, close to Bassenthwaite Lake and the village of Thornthwaite, the apartment is tastefully furnished with a contemporary touch. The living area has superb views to the front as well as a small balcony to the side with fell views. There is a pond in the garden (young children will require supervision) which provides a natural habitat for newts and frogs, there is also an abundance of birdlife, deer and red squirrels.  If you are lucky you may catch sight of the ospreys which nest within 500 yards of Swan House and regularly fly over the grounds.
Lords Seat and Whinlatter Forest rise up directly from Swan House, with a variety of walks and mountain biking possibilities.

If you love visiting the lakes and rambling around National Parks, then Tebay is the place for you. Ramshead Cottage is detached and has a wealth of original features, it’s characterful and welcoming with a cosy country style, and on the doorstep of both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The views of the surrounding fields and fells are divine for those beautiful summer mornings, fast forward to winter and you can cosy up in front of the wood burner. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom is a twin bedroom allowing the option to have double or separate beds. Comfortable seating around the television and wood burner on the ground floor will help you unwind after a long day walking or cycling. There is a large kitchen offering all the amenities you would expect to be able to cook for you and your guests. Wines are available in the property which guests can buy, and the owner will donate £1 per bottle purchased to the Air Ambulance and Cumbrian Mountain Rescue. There is even an outdoor shed ideal for bicycles, canoes or even motorbikes. The local pub is ideal for a hearty Sunday roast after your afternoon ramble and Ramshead Cottage is within easy reach of Kendal, Penrith, Lancaster or Carlisle, making this quaint village a great commuter’s location. This traditional, red sandstone barn has been tastefully converted to create two holiday homes which retain a good deal of charm and character. There is excellent walking and cycling from the doorstep and one of the highlights is High Cup Nick which is a spectacular geological feature and walkers are rewarded with an amazing view along the Eden Valley to the Lakeland fells. The ancient, attractive market town of Appleby, 3 miles, stands on the River Eden and is on the famous and scenic Carlisle to Settle train line. Dufton provides a good base from which to explore the contrasting but equally beautiful Lakes and Dales National Parks. The Scottish border and Hadrian’s Wall are also an easy, pretty drive away.
