This holiday cottage is spacious, yet intimate, and commands beautiful views of the countryside surrounding the peaceful village of Sheldon, only 3 miles from the market town of Bakewell. The oldest part of the cottage dates from 1800 and has been converted skilfully into a living room with tasteful furnishings, original beams, exposed stone walls and a large fireplace with a multi-fuel burner. There is a large dining area adjacent to the living room and a kitchen which leads into a south-facing conservatory, ideal for breakfast and relaxing. There is a downstairs toilet and utility area. Upstairs has three large double bedrooms (two with en-suite showers) and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a 6ft zip and link bed which can be used as a double bed or two single beds. The cottage has Sky TV and wi-fi internet access. Only a few steps from the main cottage is a games room and studio apartment. The large, heated games room has a pool table and table tennis table as well as a drying room for wet clothes and boots. Above the games room is the studio with sitting room and a double bedroom with en-suite. The sitting room has a sofa bed (for alternative sleeping only) and a TV. The cottage stands in an enclosed garden which has driveway parking for four vehicles, flower beds and two lawns. The larger lawn overlooks the nearby fields and hills, and is ideal for ball games. It adjoins a stone-flagged patio area with a built-in barbecue and outside table and chairs. Sheldon has a pub close to the cottage which is friendly and provides good food. The village is within easy reach of Bakewell and Ashford-on-the-Water, and is an excellent starting point for walking, exploring the countryside and visiting Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, The Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, the caves around Castleton and many other attractions in the Peak District. Bailey’s Barn is well set up with a heated cupboard for drying coats and boots and an outside tap for washing wellies and dogs. The property is most welcoming for two dogs, with a special welcome gift and bedding.
Ideal for walkers, couples, and dog owners, it is within an easy stroll of fields, footpaths and The Limestone Way. Set on top of the highest hill for many miles around, the views are outstanding and the walking and cycling extremely rewarding. There are hundreds of miles of trails which start straight from the barn, it is an ideal opportunity to park-up, put the car keys away and just relax! Bailey’s Barn is a great base from which to explore the beauty and majesty of the region’s peaks, dales and rivers. With its own quirky traditions such as Bonsall Carnival, International Hen Racing Championships, ancient buildings and History Trails, Bonsall itself is a delightful find with two pubs and a lovely tearoom all within half a mile or so. This delightful cottage can be found on the edge of the Peak District in the picturesque village of Cutthorpe, down a private country lane on the owner’s non-working farm of 2 acres. Green Farm is surrounded by fields, woodland, footpaths and bridleways with direct access to the Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. Tawny Owl Barn is a beautifully converted stone barn, situated over two floors, retaining many original features. The ground floor lays claim to a cosy living room complete with a warming wood burner, leather sofas, exposed stone walls and wooden beams. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a great social space with a large dining table so you can have a home cooked meal with all the family, as well as a single bedroom with an oak sliding barn door. Head upstairs where you will find two en-suite bedrooms with varnished, natural wooden floors, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. Double glazed and centrally heated throughout, this barn is perfect for families and groups all year round.
Outside, there is a fully enclosed private garden with a patio table and chairs, a barbeque and views over open countryside. There is a gate giving access to the fully enclosed hot tub (which is available all year for an additional charge, payable locally). This also includes the supply of additional towels and dressing gowns. We have a one acre paddock to exercise your dog in. Up to two well behaved dogs.
Cutthorpe has two pubs within walking distance that are dog friendly and serve food. It has a pretty village green and benefits from panoramic views over Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. The village is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, yet is only 3 miles from The popular market town of Chesterfield. Its perfect location allows you to explore historic houses, walking, cycling and visiting the tourist towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Castleton, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage. If its stately homes, castles and gardens you would like to visit, the magnificent Chatsworth House is only 10 minutes drive away; the grounds and house will provide a full day out. Within 30 minutes you can also visit Packwood house, Bolsover castle, Renishaw hall, Haddon hall and Hardwick hall.

For those that are more active, there are numerous options varying from local walks from your door, to more adventurous walks in the Peak District. Cyclists are also well catered for with a variety of road and off road tracks and trails. Additionally there is shooting, canoeing, horse riding, go ape, abseiling, climbing, fishing and golf all available nearby. Alternatively you can just relax and enjoy the tranquillity that Green Farm offers. The nearest shop is 2 miles, café 1½ miles, post office, doctors are all available locally.

Enjoying a prime position on the very fringe of the town of Matlock, this restored cottage lives up to its name with lovely views across the Derwent Valley. The interior combines sophisticated contemporary comfort and artistic style whilst retaining the proportions of the original Victorian building. There are many restaurants in Matlock, 1 mile, and some excellent takeaways. The Peak Rail Steam Train is 1 mile away. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are 5 miles away and the attractions of Heights of Abraham, Crich Tramway Museum, Carsington Lake and the High Peak Trail (with cycle hire) are all within easy reach. Bakewell is 8 miles, Buxton is 20 miles and Alton Towers is within an hour’s drive. Golf 2 miles. Riding 10 miles. Shop and pub 0.5 miles.

This fully restored 18th century farmhouse adjoins the owner’s home in the beautiful ’White Peak’ limestone country, centrally located in the Peak National Park, near Peak Forest, with fine view across to wooded hills and the striking landscape. Nestling in the grounds of a large farmhouse in a rural position, this delightful single storey barn conversion has been skilfully renovated retaining exposed beams and trusses. The holiday property has an advantage of catering for large parties with a connecting door to the adjacent property (W7922) increasing the accommodation to 28, which makes it ideal for a large family get together. It has shared facilities with a floodlit all weather surface tennis court (equipment not provided), a small pool table and if desired, a catering service (arranged direct with the owner). This perfect location is on the edge of the tiny village of Somersal Herbert, approximately 9 miles south of the popular Derbyshire market town of Ashbourne and convenient for visiting The Potteries and Alton Towers, one of the largest theme parks in the country. Enjoy Derwent Crystal Factory at Shawcroft, the Antiques and Collectors Centre at Bakewell, the ’Heights of Abraham’ cable car rides and caves at Matlock Bath. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Swallows Loft was originally an 18th-century barn which has been thoughtfully converted into a wonderful holiday cottage.
