The village of Rowsley offers a village grocery shop and a post office, and is conveniently situated between two of the Peak District’s most popular market towns, Bakewell, 3 miles, and Matlock, 5 miles, as well as being on the doorstep of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, both 2 miles away. Rowsley provides an excellent base for walking, with paths leading to Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and up the hillside towards the moors of Stanton and Fallinge. The Derwent Valley Heritage Trail runs through the village, which has two small art galleries and a couple of good pubs. The Peak Village factory outlet and Caudwell’s Mill, with cafe and craft centre, are both within easy reach of the cottage. Places of interest further afield include Crich Tramway Village, Manifold Valley, Castleton, Dovedale and Buxton. Activities available locally include cycling and fishing. In summer, steam trains operate to Matlock via Darley Dale. Pub ¾ mile, restaurant 2 miles.

Ideal for walkers, couples, and dog owners, it is within an easy stroll of fields, footpaths and The Limestone Way. Set on top of the highest hill for many miles around, the views are outstanding and the walking and cycling extremely rewarding. There are hundreds of miles of trails which start straight from the barn, it is an ideal opportunity to park-up, put the car keys away and just relax! Bailey’s Barn is a great base from which to explore the beauty and majesty of the region’s peaks, dales and rivers. With its own quirky traditions such as Bonsall Carnival, International Hen Racing Championships, ancient buildings and History Trails, Bonsall itself is a delightful find with two pubs and a lovely tearoom all within half a mile or so. The cottage, built for salt mill workers is 18th century, and its name originates from Wilne Lane which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
Shardlow is an unexpected delight for any unsuspecting visitor, whether emerging from the Derby conurbation in the north and finding quiet, spacious, sweeping greenery, or from the south where a signpost tells you you’re now in Derbyshire, although without the hills and dales you might have been expecting. As you spy the boats, locks, and warehouses, you might even wonder if you’ve been transported to a corner of the Netherlands, an impression that would have been even more likely if Shardlow had hung on to its windmill and more importantly in its hayday it was referred to as ‘Rural Rotterdam’ and ‘Little Liverpool’. Today Shardlow is Britain’s most complete surviving example of a canal village, much of it snuggled safely in a conservation area.
Discover the National Trust property of Kedleston Hall, Derby Museum and Art Gallery and a variety of independent shops, supermarkets, pubs, and cafés in case you fancy a spot of lunch or picking up a souvenir for your loved one’s back home. There is a rich network of footpaths that radiate from the village with undulating countryside of fields, meadows, bluebell woods and a famous cave, ideal for horse riders, hikers, runners, and cyclists. The Briar is a converted semi-detached out building forming part of a Grade II barn, sitting in the heart of a working farm. The fields in front slope down to the River Ecclesbourne which is a designated special landscape area full of natural wildlife. From the front gate, a public right of way gives access to a countryside littered with footpaths to enjoy. A west facing lawn in front of the magnificent barn can be used to sit, relax and enjoy the views into the evening sunshine. The Briar is ideally situated for access to the Peak District and many other attractions, Chatsworth House is less than an hour away, Derby city can be reached in 20 minutes. The Black Swan, restaurant and pub is within walking distance. There is ample parking on the owners’ drive.

Situated in the High Peak on the border of The Peak District National Park, this stylish semi-detached holiday property offers traditional living. Ideally located for adventurous outdoor pursuits both the Dark Peaks and the White Peaks are within easy reach. For the more sedate it is just a short walk of ½ mile to the famous Buxworth Basin, or take a stroll along the tow path of the canal to the village of Whaley Bridge, about 1 mile. A keen walker may want to walk to Edale and catch the train back to Chinley station only 2 miles away or perhaps take the train to Manchester and take in a museum, show, art gallery or just shop. This delightful cottage can be found on the edge of the Peak District in the picturesque village of Cutthorpe, down a private country lane on the owner’s non-working farm of 2 acres. Green Farm is surrounded by fields, woodland, footpaths and bridleways with direct access to the Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. Tawny Owl Barn is a beautifully converted stone barn, situated over two floors, retaining many original features. The ground floor lays claim to a cosy living room complete with a warming wood burner, leather sofas, exposed stone walls and wooden beams. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a great social space with a large dining table so you can have a home cooked meal with all the family, as well as a single bedroom with an oak sliding barn door. Head upstairs where you will find two en-suite bedrooms with varnished, natural wooden floors, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. Double glazed and centrally heated throughout, this barn is perfect for families and groups all year round.
Outside, there is a fully enclosed private garden with a patio table and chairs, a barbeque and views over open countryside. There is a gate giving access to the fully enclosed hot tub (which is available all year for an additional charge, payable locally). This also includes the supply of additional towels and dressing gowns. We have a one acre paddock to exercise your dog in. Up to two well behaved dogs.
Cutthorpe has two pubs within walking distance that are dog friendly and serve food. It has a pretty village green and benefits from panoramic views over Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. The village is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, yet is only 3 miles from The popular market town of Chesterfield. Its perfect location allows you to explore historic houses, walking, cycling and visiting the tourist towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Castleton, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage. If its stately homes, castles and gardens you would like to visit, the magnificent Chatsworth House is only 10 minutes drive away; the grounds and house will provide a full day out. Within 30 minutes you can also visit Packwood house, Bolsover castle, Renishaw hall, Haddon hall and Hardwick hall.

For those that are more active, there are numerous options varying from local walks from your door, to more adventurous walks in the Peak District. Cyclists are also well catered for with a variety of road and off road tracks and trails. Additionally there is shooting, canoeing, horse riding, go ape, abseiling, climbing, fishing and golf all available nearby. Alternatively you can just relax and enjoy the tranquillity that Green Farm offers. The nearest shop is 2 miles, café 1½ miles, post office, doctors are all available locally.

Surrounded by 30 acres of land, the property has its own sitting-out area from which to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding area. The village of Holymoorside has 2 pubs, 3 churches and a small local shop; a wider range of amenities can be found in Chesterfield which is 3½ miles away.
