Lillegarth is a wonderful, 18th-century stone built cottage in the popular Hope Valley village of Bradwell, within the heart of the Peak District National Park. Originally two cottages now opened up as one, the property is full of character and charm with exposed beams, low doorways, exposed stone work and steps between rooms. In an elevated position, surrounded by extensive grounds and accessed down a narrow lane, the setting is peaceful and with views that are nothing less than spectacular. In the winter months, the gas log-effect wood burner provides a warm, cosy environment in what is a spacious property, and for the summer, the summerhouse is a perfect place to relax whilst the sun goes down and admire magnificent views. In addition there are several other outdoor seating areas all surrounded by fantastic views.

As a village, Bradwell is a picturesque, rabbit-warren of narrow lanes and tiny cottages, built up a steep hillside, and as can be seen from Lillegarth, the village is surrounded by fabulous countryside. Making an excellent base, local facilities within the village include shops, pubs and places to eat, and there are also two children’s playgrounds within the village. Bradwell amenities also include a fish and chip shop, a shop, bread shop, Post Office and a hairdressers.

The surrounding area holds a whole host of attractions including the ever popular honeypot village of Castleton, just 10 minutes away. Hathersage, also 10 minutes, is a larger village with a wealth of facilities including an open-air heated swimming pool in the summer months. The market town of Bakewell, home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, can be reached in just 20 minutes, and the spa town of Buxton is a similar distance. For outdoor enthusiasts, being surrounded by National Park countryside means there are numerous tracks, trails and footpaths offering cycling and walks from Bradwell, and the start of the Pennine Way is at nearby Edale. Finally, for any thrill seekers, Matlock with its cable car to the Heights of Abraham is around 40 minutes away, and the UKs premier theme park Alton Towers around an hour.

Beautifully refurbished in 2020, the cottage can be found at the end of a private drive on the friendly owner’s working farm and with the owners living adjacent. Benefitting from underfloor heating, three bedrooms, two of which are en-suite and a further bathroom, and stunning views over the surrounding countryside, it really does make for a luxury rural break. You’ll also find ample private parking and an enclosed patio with seating area to relax, take stock and simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Hathersage is a large, busy village in the heart of the Peak District National Park, and has associations with both Robin Hood and the Brontës. It is home to a good selection of shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as, quite uniquely, a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool. Centrally located, the neighbouring village of Bamford is just over 1 mile away, Hope 3 miles and then the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton is just under 5 miles away. The fascinating plague village of Eyam is around a 15 minute drive; Bakewell and Chatsworth House are around 20 minutes away. Hathersage, Bamford and Hope all have their own train stations connecting you to the bright lights of Sheffield and Manchester. An area popular with lovers of the great outdoors, you’ll find ample walking, cycling and climbing available. Stanage and Burbage Edge are both nearby and reward you with superb views of the Dark Peak moorlands. Enjoy quality family time by staying in the beautiful area of the Peak District on the owner’s working livestock farm, where there is no light pollution and a great location for stargazing at night. Carr View (Ref UK36953) is one of two holiday properties finished to an extremely high standard and the owner takes great pride in ensuring you have the perfect stay. On the ground floor you will enter into the boot room, which has a neatly placed washing machine in a cupboard, kick your boots off and enter into the beautifully designed open plan kitchen which has all you need to enjoy your self-catering holiday with the dining room which has ample seating for six guests made up of chairs and a bench. The living room is very cosy with comfy sofas and an electric wood burner to bring a wonderful sense of relaxation to the room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with zip and link beds that can be made into twins on request, the master bedroom has a slightly larger bed and an en-suite. The family bathroom carries the same quality as the rest of the house and has been done beautifully, with walk in shower and bath.
Outside is a garden with a patio area and lawn, perfect to watch the sun rise and set. There is also a river running through the site, and a lake giving the opportunity for some cold water wild swimming!
The helpful owners, that live on-site, are on hand should you need anything, and provide luxury towels, complimentary toiletries, a welcome pack and even a Christmas tree for holidays throughout December.
There are electric car charging points just 5 minutes away in The Anglers Rest pub car park, and just 10 minutes away in the Hope village car park.

Or alternatively, a short drive into Castleton to visit the caves or venture into nearby towns of Bakewell and Buxton.
