Tideswell is an attractive village with a small supermarket, butchers and fish and chip shop. The Peak District offers superb walking, cycling, climbing, charming villages and bustling towns. Located in the thriving village of Tideswell, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, Acorn Cottage is a spacious, end-terraced property in an elevated position. Famous for its magnificent, 14th-century church, known as ’The Cathedral of the Peak’, Tideswell is a large village set in the midst of glorious countryside. With its dog friendly reputation, it makes an excellent base with traditional pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, delicatessens, butchers, and even a local supermarket. Throughout the year events are held such as the Tideswell Food Festival in May, and Well Dressings and Wakes Week in late June to early July.

There are some stunning walks through Tideswell Dale, where there is a nature reserve that leads out onto the Monsal Trail, a popular Peak District walking and cycling trail. The Limestone Way also passes through, and with it heading south can take you all the way to Rocester on the Staffordshire border, or north to the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton and Mam Tor, which is around 7 miles away. The ever popular market town of Bakewell is home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall, and can be reached in around 15 minutes, as can Buxton with its Pavilion Gardens and Opera House. For those thrill seekers, Matlock and its stunning cable car ride can be reached in around 30 minutes, and the UK’s biggest amusement park, Alton Towers, is around 45 minutes. As a single road village made up of cottages, character houses and working farms it can be found between the popular beauty spot of Monsal Head and the large, well appointed village of Tideswell within the Peak District National Park. The pretty villages of Ashford in the Water, Litton, and Great and Little Longstone are within a 5-10 minute drive, as is the ever popular market town of Bakewell meaning an ample supply of local pubs, eateries, shops and attractions. Walks are available straight from the door including a path at Wardlow Hay Cop known as ’The Pingle’ which takes you to Cressbrook Dale, where in late spring orchids and cowslips bloom. Upon arrival at Warrington House, you will enter a large boot room, the perfect space with hard floorings to brush yourself down or your four-legged friend after a muddy walk in the hills; this room also has a utility section offering guests the use of the washing machine and tumble dryer. Off from the boot room are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and another with twin beds, on the ground floor there is also the family bathroom with a bath and separate cubicle shower. This property has been completely renovated in the summer/autumn of 2021 and it has been done to an excellent standard with guests’ thoughts always in mind.
On the first floor is an open plan, spacious living room with ample seating and beautifully placed pops of colour in the décor. There is a rustic wooden dining table to seat eight guests. The living and dining area is also open plan to the kitchen which is equipped with fridge, small freezer, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee machine with pods provided. There is a bedroom with a king sizebed located on the first floor also.
On the second floor you enter the main bedroom, which is converted in the attic; there are some low ceilings but ample room to walk upright, this room has a king size bed and en-suite with shower cubicle. To the rear of the property is a small, decked terrace area. Take advantage of this perfectly placed house where you can amble over the road to enjoy a nice meal at the end of your fun day exploring.

The ground floor comprises of a small but adequate kitchen with dishwasher and all the equipment you should require. Upstairs are two bedrooms, the master offering a double bed and the second bedroom has two singles. Outside there is an outhouse storing washing machine/tumbler and sink. There is parking for 1 car and an open patio area with outdoor furniture and BBQ overlooking the village.
Taddington village is in the heart of the Peak District and it has a great pub serving fantastic food within walking distance of the property. You can head out on foot on endless walks or explore the local towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Chatsworth plus lots more!

Abbots Abode is a characteristic cottage sleeping up to six guests in two bedrooms. On the ground floor is a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen with farmhouse dining table to seat all guests, and a comfortable living room with ample seating, electric wood burner and TV. On the first floor is a family bathroom with shower over bath, a double bedroom and the second bedroom has four single beds - please note two of the single beds are up a short and secure ladder to the mezzanine, perfect for kids. There is a shared utility room on site with washing machine with hanging space to dry wet coats or boots. The property has a garden to the front with stunning views down the Peak District valley, it is a perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee while planning your day ahead.
The views from Monks Retreat are beautiful, just a short walk away you have an extensive panorama or seven dales and can see far out into the distance to the high moorlands of Axe Edge and Kinder Scout. The Limestone Way trail runs directly through the farm so you can easily hope on to this for your first exciting Peak District walk, there are many in the area such as Monsal Trail, High Peak Trail and Tissington Trail to name a few. Local to the property is Buxton town which offers an array of restaurants, pubs and shops, as well as the famous opera house that has shows on regularly. Bakewell and Matlock are also nearby to explore, as well as Chatsworth House. After you have enjoyed a fun-filled day head down to the local pub to enjoy some local ales and home cooked food.
