Then these are the ones to explore, set on the quieter side of the Western Lake District, you will see fabulous vistas from the tops, taking in Loweswater, the Solway Firth and on a clear day, Scotland! Situated on the very fringe of the Lake District National Park, between Cockermouth and Ennerdale, it offers easy access for walking and cycling routes, as well as arguably some of the most picturesque scenery. Nearby is Cockermouth at just 5 miles away with an abundance of independent shops, coffee shops, restaurants and attractions. There is something for everyone here to make a great holiday. The Bungalow sits in the quiet rural village of Aikton, set in the northern part of Cumbria. The peaceful countryside is idyllic, and perfect for friends and family to relax, catch up and enjoy the surrounding area. The property is a large detached bungalow, with two large living rooms, giving plenty of space for everyone. A spacious and well equipped dining kitchen is the central hub of the house, where hearty meals, drinks and good conversation can go on well into the evening, after which head off for a comfortable night’s sleep in the three double bedrooms, the third can also be made up into a twin if so required. Wake up revived and refreshed, two family bathrooms are available for all. Outside is surrounded by large enclosed lawned gardens, with open rural fields to the rear and side, often with livestock, and views of Skiddaw (weather permitting). For al fresco dining, the paved patio area is the place to serve up your culinary skills, however a morning coffee, a slice of toast and the gentle sound of birdsong makes it a perfect place to reflect and plan the day ahead. A bike store is also available on request via the owner, at cost. A short 5 minute walk and the 18th-century inn serves quality home cooked food and a selection of real ales. Whilst the market town of Wigton (4 miles) has a wide range of restaurants and supermarkets. If you can tear yourself away from this tranquil setting, Cumbria and the Lake District National Park is one of the most beautiful regions in the UK. The area has something to offer all visitors, from those seeking adventure, to those seeking peace and quiet. Not only is the Lake District National Park a short drive away, but from here it’s also easy to explore the great border city of Carlisle, Hadrian’s Wall and Scotland. Local shops and tea rooms, as well as great pubs and restaurants abound. From Staffield Cottage you can plan a multitude of activities to do from cycling to fishing, walking to ballooning. The choice is endless.

Seaton is a lovely village just two miles from the Cumbrian Coast with an excellent pub just a few hundred yards up the road and shops nearby. The major town of Workington offers all your usual high street brands and supermarkets as well as a good range of bars and plenty of places to eat. Pippin Howe is central to several popular tourist attractions and areas. Jump in the car and you are just 20 minutes from the long stretch of beach at Allonby or 25 minutes to the sandy beaches of St Bees. The Solway Coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is well worth a visit. The harbour of town of Maryport is 15 minutes’ away and has a range of family attractions.
You can reach the tourist magnet of Keswick in 30 minutes and Bassenthwaite with The Lake District Wildlife Park and The Lakes Distillery in 25 minutes. If you love the outdoors, there’s beautiful scenery and popular walking trails all around. One of the most scenic areas of The Lake District is the drive via Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere over the Honister pass around the side of Derwentwater to Keswick, so if you like natural beauty and sightseeing, this is one not to be missed. As you arrive at the Beckside House, there is ample private parking directly outside the property making for a smooth transition of bags in the house. The entrance hall is light and airy and has hanging for coats and a rack for shoes. To the left is a good-sized twin bedroom with plenty of storage. The two single beds are zip and link so can be configured as a second double if preferred (please specify at the time of booking). Situated next to the second bedroom is the open living space, finished to a good standard with a modern feel. The living area benefits from a 50” TV and gives views to the enclosed patio and garden area, with French doors so you can open the whole space up on warm summer days. There is a round, glass table for dining and the well-appointed kitchen means the cook can still be part of the conversation as dinner is prepared. The kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, electric hob and oven, microwave and a dishwasher. These is also a washing machine for the outdoor enthusiast who may get caught out by the weather. The property houses a large bath to soak away the day’s aches and pains, and a large drench shower. The property is completed by the large master bedroom which has plenty of space and a kingsize bed to lull you to sleep.

The property is ideally located with the centre of Dalton-in-Furness only a 2-minute walk from the front door. Dalton offers a good range of shops and take-aways, as well as a selection of lovely pubs which offer food as well as a good selection of beers. Within 3 miles are a number of attractions, such as the Safari Zoo, Furness Abbey and a local leisure centre with a great pool for kids. If you want to travel a bit further afield then within a 20-mile radius there is the World-famous Lake Windermere, Lakeland Motor Museum, Go-Ape High ropes adventure, Miniature Village, Bigland Hall equestrian (Horse riding) and Lakes Aquarium to name but a few, so there is something for every family member, and of course, you are at the gateway to the whole of the Lake District National Park.

Ludlow Bank is the perfect seaside getaway, situated just 20 yards from the Irish sea this bungalow not only allows for beachcombing with the kids and romantic sunsets on the evening but you are also just a short drive to the Lake District.

The Cumbrian coastal village of Coulderton is located on the outskirts of St Bees, and about 3 miles from the market town of Egremont. You will be able to enjoy many local attractions including a special trip on the miniature railway at Ravenglass, enjoy the sights of the Lakes at Ennerdale or Buttermere, trips to Whitehaven with the famous Rum Story and Beacon Museum. Keswick and Windermere with their local shops, cafés and restaurants are well worth a vist.
Ludlow Bank is a single storey house and is suitable for all year round use with full central heating and hot tub in the garden. It is the ideal setting for your next seaside location, being able to enjoy coastal life while not being too far from Western Cumbria and The Lakes. Beach 20 yards. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

The moment you walk into this rustic style timber lodge you’ll feel a sense of warmth and homeliness. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is comfortable and has all the mod cons you need with cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and large TV, but chances are you won’t be spending time watching TV or Netflix, you’ll more than likely be trying to spot the red squirrels and deer that often roam around the grounds. There are two bedrooms, a master with a double bed and dressing table and the second has twin beds. The lodge is completed by a family bathroom with a shower. In the shed outside there are also a washer and dryer in case of those muddy fun days. The lodge is located in a park where all properties are privately owned and so has a real non-commercial feel. Guests are offered access to a small swimming pool and mixed sauna at certain times of the year, but the location of the park is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts with some superb walks at the edge of the park.

Neaum Crag at Skelwith Bridge is conveniently located between Coniston and Ambleside, two of the most popular locations in the Lakes. Ambleside boasts a wide selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and not one, but two cinemas. Waterhead Pier runs ferries which can be taken to Bowness and Lakeside pier near Newby Bridge, Wray Castle, and Brockhole Visitor Centre. Motor and rowing boats are available if you wish to take to the water. National Trust owned Stagshaw Gardens, offers eight acres of fine gardens with a wide variety of plants, trees and shrubs, and for more impressive natural features there is Stock Ghyll Force, a spectacular 70-foot waterfall which may be viewed safely from a railed viewpoint. Coniston is a few minutes’ drive in the other direction and as well as the town with its shops and pubs, there is Coniston water, which is popular for activities such as canoes, paddle boards and open water swimming. Beach 25 miles. Pub ½ mile.

Situated in the heart of Whitehaven, this spacious, well-presented ground floor apartment is perfect for those looking to holiday without having to use the car. The train station is just a 5-minute walk away, meaning you can easily explore this unspoilt west coast of Cumbria. Services run from Carlisle to Grange-over-Sands giving guests an abundance of day trips including Laal Ratty narrow gauge steam train that takes you into the heart of the Eskdale Valley, or perhaps a day at Muncaster Castle. If you are craving some retail therapy, a day in Carlisle will not disappoint.
