This cosy cottage has been renovated in 2022 to a very high standard, where great thought and craftmanship has gone into every aspect making it a fantastic base for your Peak District base.
The ground floor comprises of a small but adequate kitchen with dishwasher and all the equipment you should require. The sitting room offers comfortable seating, TV and wood burner effect electric fire, there is also a dining table and chairs. The bathroom is also located on the ground floor with shower over bath. Upstairs are two bedrooms, the master offering a double bed and the second bedroom has two singles. Outside there is an outhouse storing washing machine/tumbler and sink. There is parking for 1 car and an open patio area with outdoor furniture and BBQ overlooking the village.
Taddington village is in the heart of the Peak District and it has a great pub serving fantastic food within walking distance of the property. You can head out on foot on endless walks or explore the local towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Chatsworth plus lots more!

Woodlands Barn is a bungalow offering excellent accommodation for up to four guests and one large dog or two small ones. The property is private and has an outstanding view across the village of Chinley and surrounding Peak District hills. Previously a stable, this property has undergone extensive renovations in 2023 and is light and finished to a very good standard. As you arrive at the long private drive, you will find a designated parking area for two vehicles; there is also a secure bike store and an EV charger available (at additional cost by arrangement with the owners). At the top of the driveway you will find a patio area at the front of the property with outdoor furniture and chiminea; it is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee whilst planning your exciting day ahead, or at the end of the day light the chiminea and enjoy a glass of your favourite wine.
Step into the bungalow and you are into the kitchen where there is a utility section offering washing machine, doggy cupboard plus an iron and ironing board. The kitchen has all the equipment and appliances you should need as well as a dining table with four chairs positioned perfectly to take in the views. The living room is comfortable with ample furniture, Smart TV, and an electric wood burner.
There is a kingsize bedroom with an en-suite shower room; this bed can be made into a twin upon request. The second bedroom is also kingsize and there is a separate family shower room. Views can be enjoyed from every room (please note that there is a signal mast on site, but this is positioned behind the property and can only be seen from the bottom of the driveway and the parking area).
Woodlands Barn is located in the village of Chinley, which has a lot to offer with two great pubs within walking distance as well as an Indian restaurant, convenience store, launderette, pharmacy, post office, fish and chip shop and two cafés. Train links take you into Sheffield or Manchester city centre, and very popular village of Edale is on this line. Locally there are some great walking or cycling routes as well so take your bikes on the train and cycle back. Immediate walks from the property is the adjacent Cracken Edge to Kinder Scout and South Head.
A short drive from the property is the Spa town of Buxton which has great shops, restaurants, Pooles Cavern and Buxton Opera House hosting shows weekly. Visit Castleton where you can explore the underground caves in a boat or visit Chatsworth House and Gardens or Lyme Park for a historic day out at these beautiful stately homes. There are ample of things to do and explore in this area making for a fun-filled Peak District holiday.

The surrounding area offers inspiring and varied scenery, with walking and cycling in the beautiful Hope Valley countryside, and stunning views across the Derwent Valley. Family attractions within easy reach such as the magnificent historic houses of Eyam Hall, located in the centre of the village, Chatsworth Estate, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle. Owl Cottage is a Derbyshire stone cottage with a cosy living room with low beamed ceiling and a feature exposed stone wall. The kitchen is light and airy and leads directly to the cottage-style garden at the rear of the cottage. You will find the kitchen/dining room is well equipped with all that you would need to cook a lovely meal, where you can eat at the large kitchen table with five chairs to enjoy your meals. There are two good sized double bedrooms upstairs; the front bedroom has a kingsize bed and fabulous views from the low window, the rear bedroom has a standard double bed. Downstairs is where you will find the bathroom, which has a large shower, toilet and small sink. The garden is fully enclosed and the patio is a private spot surrounded by flowers, perfect for enjoying sunny days and enjoying al fresco dining or just a morning cuppa.

The village of Crich is full of character and history, and boasts a number of shops including a wonderful bread shop/tearoom traditional bake and convenience store. There are two family and dog friendly pubs that serve food and three other "eateries". There are walks around the village and the Cromford canal and the trams at the museum that take you up the valley to some of the most beautiful views of the Derbyshire Dales. Matlock, 7 miles away, offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as attractions such as Gulliver’s Kingdom. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car that takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham - a great place for all the family with its show-caves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, while to the north is the market town of Bakewell, as well as Chatsworth House and Park and Haddon Hall, with Carsington Water offering fantastic watersports, not to be missed! A beautiful stone-built, detached cottage, renovated in 2020, with far-reaching countryside views, Barn View offers modern facilities along with original exposed beams. The ground floor consists of a living/dining room with stone-built fireplace, along with a separate well-equipped kitchen. On the first floor you will find two well-appointed bedrooms as well as a family bathroom complete with a spa bath. The cottage is situated on the owner’s working farm with cattle, ducks, geese, chickens, and horses, and is an ideal holiday location (stabling available).

A plethora of walks can be taken from the doorstep and coarse fishing can be found ½ mile away. Chatsworth House, Bolsover Castle, Hardwick Hall and the Heights of Abraham are just a selection of the many attractions within a 10-mile drive of the cottage. Bakewell is the ancient capital of the Peak District, and is just under a half an hour drive away, famous for its puddings. Shop 4 miles, pub 3 miles, restaurant 5 miles.

When sleep calls, a king size bed awaits with matching furniture to house your belongings, and you can enjoy the peaceful setting, television free. The courtyard patio offers alternative dining arrangements when the weather is warm and where you can soak in the sun on the outdoor furniture and enjoy dining al fresco, whilst watching the wildlife over the nearby lake.

Directly from the property you can enjoy stunning country walks in many different directions, including an ever popular hike up to the Lumsdale Falls making this the ideal base for those who enjoy the outdoors. Bring your bikes and enjoy the off road cycling tracks for those who like exploring on two wheels.

Matlock Bath is a well known resort on the River Derwent. Visit the popular Heights of Abraham cable cars, enjoy fish and chips, and numerous entertainments throughout the year. The Matlock Bath illuminations and firework display are especially popular in autumn bringing in the crowds and lighting up the sky. A little further afield, Chatsworth House and Bakewell provide a wonderful day out, exploring the local businesses that line the streets. The location and property really are second to none and the perfect place for a break at any time of the year.

Enjoying a prime position on the very fringe of the town of Matlock, this restored cottage lives up to its name with lovely views across the Derwent Valley. The interior combines sophisticated contemporary comfort and artistic style whilst retaining the proportions of the original Victorian building. There are many restaurants in Matlock, 1 mile, and some excellent takeaways. The Peak Rail Steam Train is 1 mile away. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are 5 miles away and the attractions of Heights of Abraham, Crich Tramway Museum, Carsington Lake and the High Peak Trail (with cycle hire) are all within easy reach. Bakewell is 8 miles, Buxton is 20 miles and Alton Towers is within an hour’s drive. Golf 2 miles. Riding 10 miles. Shop and pub 0.5 miles.

This delightful cottage can be found on the edge of the Peak District in the picturesque village of Cutthorpe, down a private country lane on the owner’s non-working farm of 2 acres. Green Farm is surrounded by fields, woodland, footpaths and bridleways with direct access to the Linacre Reservoirs and Holmebrook Country Park. Tawny Owl Barn is a beautifully converted stone barn, situated over two floors, retaining many original features. The ground floor lays claim to a cosy living room complete with a warming wood burner, leather sofas, exposed stone walls and wooden beams. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen/dining room, a great social space with a large dining table so you can have a home cooked meal with all the family, as well as a single bedroom with an oak sliding barn door. Head upstairs where you will find two en-suite bedrooms with varnished, natural wooden floors, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. Double glazed and centrally heated throughout, this barn is perfect for families and groups all year round.
Outside, there is a fully enclosed private garden with a patio table and chairs, a barbeque and views over open countryside. There is a gate giving access to the fully enclosed hot tub (which is available all year for an additional charge, payable locally). This also includes the supply of additional towels and dressing gowns. We have a one acre paddock to exercise your dog in. Up to two well behaved dogs.
Cutthorpe has two pubs within walking distance that are dog friendly and serve food. It has a pretty village green and benefits from panoramic views over Chesterfield with its famous crooked spire. The village is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park, yet is only 3 miles from The popular market town of Chesterfield. Its perfect location allows you to explore historic houses, walking, cycling and visiting the tourist towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Castleton, Buxton, Eyam and Hathersage. If its stately homes, castles and gardens you would like to visit, the magnificent Chatsworth House is only 10 minutes drive away; the grounds and house will provide a full day out. Within 30 minutes you can also visit Packwood house, Bolsover castle, Renishaw hall, Haddon hall and Hardwick hall.

For those that are more active, there are numerous options varying from local walks from your door, to more adventurous walks in the Peak District. Cyclists are also well catered for with a variety of road and off road tracks and trails. Additionally there is shooting, canoeing, horse riding, go ape, abseiling, climbing, fishing and golf all available nearby. Alternatively you can just relax and enjoy the tranquillity that Green Farm offers. The nearest shop is 2 miles, café 1½ miles, post office, doctors are all available locally.

Beautiful thick curtains dress windows, luxurious bedding adorns beds, and the cosy living room is set around a magnificent open fire, perfect to settle down next to after a day spent in the open countryside walking, cycling, pony trekking, rock climbing or even hang gliding.

Fascinating Eyam is most famous as the ‘Plague Village’ and to this day information boards are strategically placed around the village retelling the story, together with craft workshops, tea rooms and not forgetting the fabulous historical Eyam Hall. Centrally located, just 15 minutes north of the hugely popular tourist town of Bakewell and 15 minutes south of the Peaks most famous village Castleton, its position within the Peak District itself makes it an ideal base. Chatsworth Estate and the spa town of Buxton can be easily reached within 20 minutes and the larger towns and cities of Chesterfield and Sheffield with their many shops, restaurants and theatres are within half an hour. There is horse riding and golf locally.
