At the southern end of the Peak District National Park you will be spoilt for things to fill your day. The nearby Dove and Manifold Valley provide a peaceful place to enjoy, whilst kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and cycling are all available at Carsington Water. For the thrill seekers amongst you, the renowned Alton Towers theme park is well worth a visit. Nearby you will discover many historic houses such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, and of course let’s not forget the market town of Bakewell, famous for its delicious pudding. The historical village of Wirksworth is only 3 miles away and is home to a well-established art and architecture trail, arts festival every September and has a range of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Just a 15 minute drive away is Carsington Water and the popular town of Ashbourne. Also close by is the Peak District town of Matlock, together with its neighbour, Matlock Bath, which are set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the river Derwent. Matlock offers a range of shops, pubs, and restaurants as well as a whole host of other exciting attractions. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car, which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham - a great place for all the family! South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst to the north lie the market town of Bakewell, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House - not to be missed! Close by Belper, situated in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site, is a town with a long and famous history dating back to the 13th century, when it was then called Beaurepaire (beautiful retreat), a name that still holds today. Now you’ll find it to be a spirited and bustling town, with attractions including the North Mill, Long Row and the River Gardens. There is a thriving local music and arts scene, and the town hosts an annual Arts festival every May as well as winter and summer food festivals and a monthly farmers’ market.

This fantastic Grade II listed farm house building is bursting with character. It is spacious and has social rooms to be enjoyed, plus extensive gardens with beautiful views down the valley. The ground floor of this home offers a typical farmhouse style kitchen with traditional Rayburn and dining table in the centre of the room, there is an electric/gas range cooker also available, plus everything else you should need to cook up a great meal for all. There is a dining room, a sitting room with a wood burner, a further living room with a TV and an extensive DVD selection, a utility with additional fridge and freezer space, washing machine and tumble dryer, plus hanging space to dry clothes. There are also two downstairs toilets, plus a double bedroom. On the first floor are the remainder of the bedrooms, one having an en-suite. The rooms are made up of a variety of sleeping arrangements to suit all the family, and there is a fantastic bathroom with free standing roll tap bath, large shower and ’his and her’ sinks.
Outside in the rear garden you have beautiful views down the valley, there is a patio area with furniture and a lawn. To the front of the property there is ample parking, a covered barbeque area with dining table plus further seating gathered around a firepit to enjoy the summer evenings.
Tissington has a lot to offer; it is the home of the well-dressing event, Tissington Hall, and the Tissington Trail is one of the best walking and cycling routes in the Peak District. Another fantastic walk from Tissington is to Dovedale, where the famous Dovedale stepping stones are. Alton Towers is a 25 minute drive which makes a great day out for all the family. This truly is a fantastic property to return back to after you have finished exploring for the day.

The Sheep Shack is in a great location on the side of Kinder Scout in the Peak District National Park. It makes an ideal base for walking, running, cycling and exploring the Peak District. Many walks and trails start from right outside the front door. The building is a converted barn and full of character but also benefits from a contemporary interior with high quality fittings and sustainable technologies such as ground source underfloor heating. As you enter the property you will be blown away by the open plan space and high ceilings with fantastic views from each window.
Step down onto the lower ground floor and you’ll find an open plan living space, with a well-equipped modern kitchen. There is a dining table with four chairs, a warming wood burner, Smart TV, and ample comfy seating. Patio doors take you out onto the enclosed back garden where outdoor furniture is positioned well to take in the amazing views. There is a small bedroom on the lower ground floor with single sized bunk beds, and a neatly tucked away washing machine should you need it. The ground floor wet room has separate bath, basin and open shower. The main double bedroom has en-suite facilities with a cubicle shower.
The Shack is also ideal for a romantic break. Visitors can enjoy peace and privacy whilst still being within easy reach of Hayfield village which has several pubs and cafes. After a long day out, you can amble down the lane to the pub or just kick back in front of the fire and relax.
The Sheep Shack benefits from sustainable technologies and has been built to BREAM specifications meaning low carbon consumption and very high levels of insulation. Solar heat is captured invisibly by a ground loop under the neighbouring field to supply hot water and underfloor heating.

Located in the thriving village of Tideswell, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, Acorn Cottage is a spacious, end-terraced property in an elevated position. It benefits from a beautiful raised garden complete with a heated summerhouse, just perfect for those summer evenings. A characterful and homely cottage with many original features and oak beams retained. Comfortable and furnished to a very good standard throughout, the living and dining areas have the added luxury of wood burners for warm, cosy winter evenings. The master bedroom benefits from an en-suite arrangement and the luxury of double doors opening directly onto the enclosed garden and sun-trapped patio, a perfect start to the day! Another of the four double bedrooms is located on the level ground floor and has an adjacent shower room, particularly popular for those requiring ease of access.

Famous for its magnificent, 14th-century church, known as ’The Cathedral of the Peak’, Tideswell is a large village set in the midst of glorious countryside. With its dog friendly reputation, it makes an excellent base with traditional pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, delicatessens, butchers, and even a local supermarket. Throughout the year events are held such as the Tideswell Food Festival in May, and Well Dressings and Wakes Week in late June to early July.

There are some stunning walks through Tideswell Dale, where there is a nature reserve that leads out onto the Monsal Trail, a popular Peak District walking and cycling trail. The Limestone Way also passes through, and with it heading south can take you all the way to Rocester on the Staffordshire border, or north to the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton and Mam Tor, which is around 7 miles away. The ever popular market town of Bakewell is home to the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth Estate and Haddon Hall, and can be reached in around 15 minutes, as can Buxton with its Pavilion Gardens and Opera House. For those thrill seekers, Matlock and its stunning cable car ride can be reached in around 30 minutes, and the UK’s biggest amusement park, Alton Towers, is around 45 minutes.
