Surrounded by rolling green fields in splendid isolation, West Yeo Farm is set over 76 acres. This medieval farm, mentioned in the Domesday book, enjoys uninterrupted countryside views across the valley to the village of Witheridge beyond. There are many interesting walks across the land and along the river nearby, and in the autumn, it is possible to help with the annual apple harvest and cider production. This part of Devon is an excellent touring base with easy access to lots of places of interest. Nearby you can explore the Two Moors Way, visit RHS Rosemoor, The Grand Western Canal, Knightshayes House or the breathtaking scenery at Exmoor National Park, a short drive away. There are plenty of National Trust properties in the area, as well as some fabulous villages and farm shops.
West Yeo Farm is just a couple of miles from Witheridge and a short drive from the market town of South Molton, known for its pannier market, quaint tea rooms and antiques shops. The Old Toll House is a modern, cosy, yet spacious holiday cottage set in the heart of the seaside village of Shaldon. Set over three floors, it sleeps up to eight guests in three bedrooms. As you enter the property through the front floor, you will find yourself in between the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with all you could need to rustle up a good meal, and the dining area next door benefits from a large dining table and additional fridge/freezer. A door from the kitchen leads into the spacious utility room, and another door leads onto the low maintenance and sunny rear courtyard garden. Upstairs on the first floor is the bright and airy living room, with its Smart TV and plenty of seating. There is also a separate toilet on this floor as well as a kingsize bedroom. The second floor is where the family bathroom is, as well as a further two bedrooms; one with a double bed and the other with two double beds, perfect as a children’s room or for individuals happy to share.
Being set in Shaldon itself, many properties are very difficult to park at and even manoeuvring through the lanes can be difficult at the best of times. However, the property is located just one road away from the town and an off-road parking space directly outside is a real added bonus. This is a great location for those looking to stay in Shaldon and enjoy the fantastic beach and nearby restaursnts or for exploring the nearby town of Teignmouth, the English Riviera (made up of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham) or even to travel slightly further afield to the well known Dartmouth and Salcombe. North Barn is a luxurious, detached barn conversion with four immaculate bedrooms, accommodating up to eight guests in total. Walk in from the private garden, straight into the hallway which leads to the homely, light and spacious open plan living space, which is attractively furnished with plenty of space for families or a group of friends. This beautiful holiday home benefits from lovely countryside walks close by on Dartmoor and Exmoor, and cyclists and walkers are well catered for in the area with the famous Tarka Trail within easy reach as well as The Granite Way. The Tarka Train Line is a great alternative to a day driving, catch this local line at Eggesford Junction and head up to the coast or to the cathedral city of Exeter.
Iddesleigh, Hatherleigh and Winkleigh are just a short drive away and offer shops and pubs. The village of Iddesleigh, which is a 5-minute drive away, is known as War Horse Country as this is where Michael Morpurgo wrote the novel ’War Horse’.
