Alderson Mews is a lovely, terraced cottage set within the village of North Frodingham in the East Riding of Yorkshire and just a short drive from the traditional seaside resort of Hornsea. Ideal for a couple to enjoy a romantic break away at any time of year.
Entering the cottage through the rear courtyard you are greeted by the large open plan living space which is neutrally decorated and flooded with natural light, offering a large comfortable sofa, wall mounted TV and a coal-effect electric fire to keep the room nice and snug during the chilly winter months. The well-equipped kitchen is to the opposite end with all the necessary appliances and a small dining area in which to enjoy delicious home cooked meals in the evenings. The double bedroom is well presented with a stunning feature wood wall and large built-in glass fronted wardrobes.
To the rear of the cottage is an enclosed courtyard offering the perfect place to enjoy an al-fresco breakfast or to simply enjoy an afternoon coffee and a good book. The nearby village of Brandesburton provides a choice of places to shop and a number of pubs serving real ales and some traditional Yorkshire fayre. A meandering stream trickles through the stunning landscaped gardens of this 150-year-old detached farmhouse. Nestling in the sleepy hamlet of Barmby Moor (there may be some noise from farm traffic) and set in its own grounds, the property also boasts an outdoor swimming pool heated by solar panels (temperature is dependent on weather) and outdoor 6-seater hot tub. Just under a mile away lies Allerthorpe Common which offers wonderful walks and picnic areas amidst thousands of well-kept acres of land. Scattered amongst the spectacular countryside are many picturesque villages and ancient market towns such as Pocklington, Howden and Driffield. Beverley, capital of the Wolds, is home to a beautiful Gothic minster, old buildings and a racecourse. Described as a jewel waiting to be discovered, the Yorkshire Wolds boast countless villages, ancient inns and historic houses. Burnby Hall Gardens, Burton Agnes Hall and Burton Constable are all close by. Three miles away in Barmby Moor, the Wolds Gliding Club offers trial flights all year round.
Just 4 miles away is the Buddhist Centre at the wonderful Georgian mansion of Kilnwick Percy Hall, which offers lessons and courses in meditation. Aircraft enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with the Real Aeroplane Museum (Selby, 25 miles) where a magnificent Hawker Hurricane and P-51 Mustang can be seen, and the Yorkshire Air Museum (Elvington, 5 miles) with a superb collection of pre- and post-WWII aircraft. The ancient walled city of York is only 12 miles away, and boasts plenty of attractions for all the family, including the Castle Museum, York Dungeons, National Railway Museum, York Racecourse and the famous Jorvik Viking Centre. The Garden Cottage stands detached in the beautiful grounds of Thorpe Hall. Built around 1790, part of the building used to be the old apple store, where the apples from the orchards on the estate would be collected by the gardeners and stored here. Lovingly restored, the owners have kept lots of the original features, and the dining room has limed oak furniture. It is a perfect ’chocolate box’ cottage. Downstairs has been designed with full disabled access throughout the ground floor - there is a twin bedroom with an en-suite wet room for the less mobile (with emergency alert). This is a perfect property for holidaymakers having a family mix of all ages: there are three bedrooms on the ground floor and two on the first floor. There is also disabled access to the garden. All the rooms are spacious and light, and with the extra living room, it is ideal for families to have their own space. The cottages are set amongst the beautiful country estate of Thorpe Hall, a magnificent retreat in the Yorkshire Wolds and situated in Rudston, near Bridlington. The Hall is a Grade II building which was built in the early 1700s and is still very much a working estate, and it forms an important part of the local community. The local village of Rudston is less than a mile away, where the churchyard contains the monolith from which the village gets its name (Rood Stane). The cottage is situated a mile from the village, where you will find a small shop along the way.
The nearest town is Bridlington just over 4 miles away, and from there you have access along the east coast from Whitby, Scarborough and Filey, right down to the resort of Hornsea. The area has lots of stately homes to visit, including Sewerby Hall, which is only a few minutes drive away, a fine example of an early Georgian residence and renowned for its gardens and a zoo. Castle Howard and Burton Agnes Hall are also just a short drive away. Flamborough Head and RSPB Bempton Cliffs are 15 minutes by car, and boast fantastic opportunities to observe puffins, gannets, dolphins and seals in their natural habitat. Along the coast at Scarborough, you have the Stephen Joseph Theatre which is known for its premieres of almost all of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays. It also boasts the largest open air theatre in Europe. During your stay, why not try some real country pursuits, such as coarse fishing or trying out some of the many bridleways across the estate; you are very close to Fraisthorpe where you can ride along the beach. Ladysmith is a fabulous detached former farmhouse, superbly located within open countryside with uninterrupted views, yet close to the seaside resort of Hornsea and just outside the village of Brandesburton. The Cart Shed (ref UKC999) has the open plan living space on the first floor and all three bedrooms are on the ground floor, all three have their own TV. All three properties have underfloor heating throughout the ground floor which provides a cosy feel.

There are great walks round the farm, as well as along the riverbank and throughout the area. This location is also popular with cyclists, so be sure to bring your bikes and enjoy this delightful setting in style. Beverley is only 2½ miles away and is well known for its racecourse, minster, many boutiques and coffee shops. The coast at Hornsea can be reached within 10 miles, where visitors will find many of its traditional amusements and its promenade.
