Extremely rare in its form it features the original dovecote tower which dates back to the 17th century with the original nesting boxes. Cosy up on the sofa, read a book and watch a film. For charging devices you will also find USB ports throughout the barn, so no need to panic if you forget your chargers! Why not take some time to chill upon a pew in the glass atrium, whilst basking in the sunlight. The glass walkway also leads to the boudoir quarter. Each bedroom has its very own feature bathroom and you will be spoilt for choice with roll-top baths and walk-in rainfall wet rooms to choose from.
Outside you have an abundance of space within your large private courtyard. It’s a great space to dine alfresco. Don your chefs hat and rustle up a country BBQ, relax upon a bench whilst sipping a cold refreshing drink or indulge in a personal training session or yoga for one to one or more (must be booked in advance). This listed 17th-century wing of a farmhouse has been refurbished in January 2020 with installation of a new kitchen, bathroom suite and central heating with radiators. It is furnished to a very good standard and retains many period features including low beamed ceilings, open fireplace and traditional cottage stairs. Now a commercial livery yard, the farm is in a rural position at the end of a country lane near Breadstone village, close to Berkeley Castle. It provides an ideal base for a holiday visiting Slimbridge, the world famous Badminton Horse Trials, Cheltenham Gold Cup, Cheltenham racecourse, Gloucester and the Cotswolds. Hidcote Gardens owned by the National Trust, is well worth a visit and is just 2 miles away. The Cotswold Way is within easy reach for walkers, ramblers and cyclists. Broadway is just over 6 miles away with pubs and restaurants and Broadway Tower where you can admire the views stretching far and wide over the countryside. Stratford-Upon-Avon is only 8 miles, where you can visit the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare’s birthplace, and take a river boat trip along the River Avon. Warwick Castle, Blenheim Palace and Clarkson’s Farm are within easy reach. Visit Cheltenham with its racecourse where they hold the famous annual Cheltenham Festival and literary festival. Fern Bank Cottage sits in the Forest of Dean with direct access to cycle routes and beautiful walks from the front door. Our cottage is an ideal place to explore this fabulous area.

The cottage is full of home-from-home comforts including a large kitchen leading into a spacious living room with a wood burner, Smart TV and bi-fold doors leading to a large, decked area with garden furniture. At the front of the cottage, you will find the snug, a cosy second sitting room with plenty of games and books to enjoy. Upstairs there are three large bedrooms, with the master having an en-suite shower room and a family-sized bathroom.

The local areas have fascinating history and heritage and cycling enthusiasts will find plenty of cycle trails. Bike hire is only 1 mile from the cottage. There are also two fantastic pubs within walking distance. Nearby our guests can enjoy Symonds Yat Rock, Puzzlewood, Clearwell Caves, Stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, Go Ape and many more activities. There is good fishing, RSPB reserves, riding, golf and tennis. The market towns of Ross-on-Wye, Chepstow and Monmouth are within easy driving distance from Fern Bank Cottage as we are just 5 miles from the beautiful Wye Valley.

Spend quality time together in The Street Cottage’s living room, beneath the rustic wooden beams which feature throughout the property, with the fire offering warmth into the room. Enjoy a home-cooked meal, when you’re not exploring the local delicacies of the area, in the kitchen/diner, which is a spacious spot with a farmhouse feel. On the first floor you can find an elegant double bedroom, and on the second-floor two more double bedrooms.
The cottage is nestled in the pretty village of Uley, a short drive from the bustling market town of Stroud in the Gloucestershire countryside. Set on the outside fringes of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are a number of trails for walking and cycling opportunities to get involved with such as the Laurie Lee Wildlife Way and Stroudwater Canal Walk. Close by is an art cafe, a local village shop, and a local pub serving delicious food, as well as the famous Uley Bury, a local village church, along the Cotswold walk way.
Make sure you visit the nearby town of Stroud for its award-winning farmer’s market, considered to be one of the most popular in the UK. The Stroud district is home to a range of historic houses, such as the 12th century Berkeley Castle, the Elizabethan manor house of Chavenage House, and the Grade listed Frampton Court.

Just a 30-minute country drive away is Stroud, this bustling town has a bohemian vibe with independent shops, eateries and markets. With all your yummy produce, why not pack up a picnic and head to Coaley Peak with its fabulous viewpoint looking out across the Severn Vale and out to Wales.
