Surrounded by farmland and with stunning views, this property is great for people who enjoy walking and there are plenty of lovely spots within the grounds for a picnic. Horseshoe Cottage is located 2 miles from the village of Sawley which has a great dining pub situated alongside the River Ribble. There are some lovely walks around the remains of Sawley Abbey, a Cistercian abbey which dates back to the 12th century. Whilst Sawley falls within the borough of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley, it was historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire so is ideally placed for exploring both of these beautiful counties. The village of Gisburn is 2½ miles away and Gisburn Forest which has some great mountain biking trails, is approximately 10 miles away.

The Ribble Valley district is famous for its unspoilt countryside, pretty villages, quaint market towns and a wealth of superb dining pubs and restaurants. There are also lots of farm shops and tea rooms making this a real foodie destination. The popular market towns of Clitheroe is just 7 miles and Skipton 13 miles, both of which have their own castle and offer a good range of shops, bars and restaurants, making them well worth a visit. Other places nearby include Bolton Abbey which nestles on the banks of the River Wharf and boasts miles of stunning walks within the grounds, the Forest of Bowland which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Grassington with its quaint shops and cobbled streets and the cathedral city and spa town of Harrogate. Should you wish to venture further afield, Lancaster, the Lake District and the Fylde Coast which includes popular coastal towns such as Blackpool and Lytham St Annes, can all be reached in under an hour by car. Just over an hour’s drive will take you into York and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. With so much to see and do, Horseshoe Cottage really is the perfect choice for those wanting everything close by whilst enjoying the peace and relaxation of the countryside. Hawett Farm is a beautifully unique, interior designed property offering a wonderful mix of rural character and charm. Set in two acres of grounds, the location is tranquil boasting far reaching countryside views to the sound of birdsong. Inside is incredibly spacious, encompassing three floors with the real heart of the home being the exquisite family kitchen. As you walk in, the vaulted ceiling and incredible views are simply impressive. The kitchen itself is a bespoke, handmade design and a central breakfast bar island, dining table and comfortable sofa in front of a wood burner have all been incorporated. There’s a separate huge living/dining area with open fire, and where you’ll find the television discreetly hidden behind an oak cabinet bookcase. For children (and adults!), the games room has a half-size snooker and pool table, together with a projector for films and music videos, yet another wood burner and a single bed. Lastly on the ground floor there’s a utility room and toilet.
Moving upstairs to the first floor you’ll find the family bathroom and three large bedrooms, each with stunning rural views to wake up to. The jungle mural bedroom is spectacular! Split and twist stairs take you to the second floor which is the luxurious master suite, with super kingsize bed and an en-suite with stand-alone tub, table-mounted twin wash basins and a walk-in rainfall shower. The television rises out of a wooden chest, and to add to the intrigue further, a full length mirror conceals the dressing room – it’s brilliant! Outside in the grounds, badminton and croquet is available to set up on the lawn. Finally there’s the opportunity to play with the tame goats, sheep and chickens, including the collection of eggs!
The village of Parbold is 1½ miles away and includes a train station with direct service to Manchester in just under an hour. Several good country pubs are within easy walking distance, and the Leeds to Liverpool canal runs through the village for waterside strolls and narrowboat/kayak hire. Fabulous walks and hikes are available direct from the door, and the beautiful sandy beach of Southport is a mere 30-minute drive.

Altham is a quiet village in the borough of Hyndburn in Lancashire. A village pub, local shops, petrol station and takeaways are all within a few miles. A popular and scenic area, Pendle Hill is within easy reach of the site, as is the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which offers ample opportunity for remote walking and cycling away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. An easy journey under one hour will take you to the city of Preston in one direction, and historic Skipton and the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the other. Pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
